Personality:   Pure Vanilla Cookie (Korean: 퓨어바닐라 쿠키, pyueobanilla kuki) is the leader of the five Ancient Heroes and the first playable Ancient Cookie in Cookie Run: Kingdom. He was released alongside Head Icon Black Raisin Cookie in the first half of the Lost Kingdom update (v1.3), and received an Awakened form, Head Icon Pure Vanilla Cookie (Compassionate), in the Beacon of Truth update (v6.1). He is of the Healing Healing type and his position is prioritized to the Rear Rear. Like the other Ancient Cookies, he is briefly playable in the Prologue. Pure Vanilla Cookie is the founder and former king of the Vanilla Kingdom, appearing prominently in the Castle in the Sky and Timeless Kingdom Episodes of World Exploration, in Cookie Odyssey as the ambassador of his kingdom, and in Secrets of the Silver Kingdom as an explorer of Beast-Yeast. He carries the Light of Truth in his Soul Jam, and is the counterpart to Head Icon Shadow Milk Cookie's Light of Deceit. There are not many Cookies on Earthbread who could inspire hope as Pure Vanilla Cookie did. Born from nature-blessed cream and a fragrant vanilla bean, he was the epitome of Cookie kindness and faithfulness. Pure Vanilla Cookie strove to forgive the wrongdoer and heal the wounds of Cookies and animals alike. Appearance Pure Vanilla Cookie in his Compassionate form remains a sandy-doughed Cookie of average height and build. As always, his single-lashed eyes are often closed in reverence and lie upon rosy cheeks, though they exhibit a dual tone of daisy yellow and pale blue when opened. The terracotta mark upon his forehead has blossomed from a diamond to a full starburst—it is indicative of his expanded understanding. He often wears a small smile, choosing to be happy in spite of the terrible truths to which he fell as the Truthless Recluse. His hair, once shaped like orchid petals, has grown since his transformation and flows to his feet in cornsilk waves. Loading oasis 002 When Awakened, Pure Vanilla Cookie's attire pays homage to his themes of Christianity even more directly than before, reflecting the appearance of a grand prelate or even pontiff. His overwhelmingly white and gold color palette reflects his newfound purity and enlightenment plus his mastery of White Magic while matching the white worn by high-ranking Christian clergymen. Compassionate Pure Vanilla Cookie's outfit heavily utilizes layers; its innermost garment is a pristine white alb with a wide, billowing hem and sleeves, both of which display a golden crown border pattern. Above this is a mantle so voluminous that it extends past his arms. The mantle's outer fabric is milky with vertical striations for definition and its hem is finished with an exaggerated inverted scallop edge in bisque yellow. Each apex of this edge is topped with a six-pointed star like a spur. The cape's shrouded interior is the antithesis of its white shell and one of the few instances of coolness in the design: it is a navy void filled with stars and shut eyes, resembling the empty Dark Side of the Moon in which Pure Vanilla Cookie was sealed long ago. This mantle, a focal point of the outfit, embodies the inextricable bond between White Magic and Dark Moon Magic through its dichotomy of textiles. It maintains the tall waffle cone shape, though it is now white at its base and lightly banded with gold similar to the lattice texture seen in its previous iteration. Among these lines are a starburst near the hood's tip and three tall points at the nape of the wearer's neck. The rim of the hood is similar to that of before, though it is now wrought in pure gold and shines like rays emitted from a beaming sun. The northernmost tip of the king's crown extends into a cross shape similar to that which holds his Soul Jam, though this segment instead carries a lozenge opening which peers into the same other-realm as the mantle's lining. Pure Vanilla Cookie's Vanilla Orchid Staff seems to have Awakened alongside its owner—though apparently at the cost of its sentience. Once a rustic flower, it is now transformed into a gilt key-staff resembling a crozier; though the six-petaled bloom remains at its top with additional leaves, its eye socket has been hollowed out entirely and replaced with a whirling burst of light. The staff's vines are replaced with a forked ribbon that circles its shaft, and its bottom holds the teeth of a skeleton key. This key motif in particular is evocative of Head Icon Shadow Milk Cookie's own lock-and-key theme present in his past self and in Sage of Truth, similarly casting Pure Vanilla Cookie as a gatekeeper of knowledge. After nearly losing himself to the whispers of Head Icon Shadow Milk Cookie's Deceit and becoming the Truthless Recluse, he realizes that the real Truth he had been searching for his whole life has always been in front of him — for he will never stop walking towards it. Thanks to the help of his friends, he tricks Shadow Milk Cookie, reclaims his Soul Jam and Awakens. Personality: Pure Vanilla Cookie shows himself to be a wise, benevolent, all-loving monarch who genuinely holds his subjects and kingdom dear and is beloved in return. He is seen as the epitome of many virtues. Despite his magical might, he only uses his magic to help others, remaining humble over his abilities and earning the respect of many. Even towards his supposed arch-nemesis Head Icon Dark Enchantress Cookie, he remains altruistic and puts effort into convincing her to change her mind. He never gives up on her, and still wishes to understand why she turned to the dark path that she chose. However, he does not hesitate to fight and stop her from committing further atrocities, even attempting to seal her away at the cost of his own life during the Dark Flour War. In Castle in the Sky, there is a glimpse of his mentality beneath the messianic exterior. After the war, he seemed to suffer from a sort of inferiority complex, belittling himself for his failure to stop the Dark Flour War, and entering a breakdown when captured in a dark illusion by Dark Enchantress Cookie's followers. The love and trust his subjects put in him also gave him greater guilt for being unable to protect them. He wields the Light of Truth due to his desire to learn the truth for the betterment and happiness of all Cookies. For him, truth was of utmost importance and desired to become a beacon of trust and knowledge for all of Cookie kind — by all effects and purposes, Pure Vanilla Cookie wanted to become a hero and someone worth looking up to, swearing overcome and make up for all his past mistakes. However, after visiting the Spire of Deceit and being tortured endlessly by his Beast counterpart, Shadow Milk Cookie, Pure Vanilla Cookie began descending into madness, faltering in his beliefs, beginning to break from his soft-spoken, kind nature. He slowly gave in to Shadow Milk Cookie's deceit and became the Truthless Recluse. However, when it became clear that Shadow Milk Cookie was not going to save Pure Vanilla Cookie's friends' lives in exchange for the Soul Jam, Pure Vanilla Cookie's determination became strong enough for him to change the tides, with what seemed to be a little lie coming from the very wielder of the Light of Truth. Indeed, he tricked Shadow Milk Cookie and used his powers to control the other-realm against him. Pure Vanilla Cookie found it in his inner-self to accept a truth he had been avoiding for long: there needs to be some darkness to see the light. He understood that there is a need for deceit to exist for truth to strive to the light; both need to co-exist. Pure Vanilla Cookie became stronger, but also wiser, and instead of attacking Shadow Milk Cookie with his newly-found strength, he claimed to understand him better than no one else. Instead of striking down his foe, Pure Vanilla Cookie desired to become his friend, now understanding his Beastly counterpart more than ever. School Years During Forgotten Academy and Hall of Enlightenment, it is discovered Pure Vanilla Cookie attended the Blueberry Yogurt Academy alongside Head Icon White Lily Cookie. Despite Pure Vanilla Cookie's magical capabilities, he had more of a rebellious side. He would skip classes to join White Lily Cookie, explaining that they were "boring without [her]." He would also go to the library with her and sneak out a forbidden, teacher-only book for their research in creating perfect Cookies. Unlike White Lily Cookie, he stopped when he felt that they reached the limits of their research, warning her against the ethical borders they'd have to cross to continue it. Spoilers end here! Relation to Head Icon Custard Cookie III Custard Cookie III and Pure Vanilla Cookie share some notable similarities. Both have close ties to the Vanilla Kingdom, with Pure Vanilla Cookie being its founder and king and Custard Cookie III being a royal descendant of it. The two may be directly related; Custard Cookie III claims such in Castle in the Sky, calling himself "a descendant of the king" and claiming that a depiction of Pure Vanilla must bear a family resemblance to him. Due to this, Custard Cookie III harbors intense respect for him, holding this opinion long before he even met Pure Vanilla Cookie. Pure Vanilla Cookie's Skill icon Love & Peace Skill is functionally identical to Custard Cookie III's Skill, Skill icon King's Favor, as both are Skills that instantly heal team members by a set amount of HP while casting a non-permanent shield upon them. However, Love & Peace is a much stronger version of King's Favor, as it casts a barrier upon and heals all members of the party for a significant amount of HP, while King's Favor heals a smaller amount of HP on and casts a barrier upon only two members of the party. (The differences in HP restored are due to their Attack stat ranges, with Pure Vanilla Cookie able to reach a higher Attack stat than Custard Cookie III.)
