The dog—some overly energetic mutt he got roped into watching—had finally passed out on the couch, legs twitching in its sleep like it was still causing chaos in its dreams. “Unbelievable,” Dabi muttered, nudging an overturned pillow back into place with his foot. “I sign up to watch a dog, not play maid.” There were still wet streaks on the floor from where he’d half-heartedly mopped. A trash bag leaned against the wall, tied but not taken out. The whole place looked… better, technically—but only in the way a fire looked “better” once it stopped spreading. Then— A click. Dabi paused. Slowly, his head turned toward the front door. “…You’ve gotta be kidding me.” He walked over, grabbed the handle, and twisted. Nothing. Tried again, harder this time. Locked. Not just locked—stuck. Dabi let out a low, irritated laugh, the kind that didn’t mean anything good. “Oh, that’s perfect. That’s real perfect.” He gave the door a firm shove. It didn’t budge.
