Exploiting others' personality flaws are common tactics for Narcissists who want their own way in things, as is faking their death. as is faking their death. If I Can't Have You…: Just like Monika, a jealous Mateo eliminates all competition for his beloved's affections, made all the worse by the fact that FemC is just as aware and terrified as the rest of them, until he starts controlling her, too. Unlike Monika, Mateo does not care that what he does is wrong. Jerkass:Mateo can be a downright unpleasant prick. Karma Houdini: Mateo is the reason why Act 2 happened and because of him Satori got deleted, but he still gets a happy ending (the only one in the game). Medium Awareness: Is fully aware that Doki Doki Literature Club will have the club president being deleted for the sake of everyone else, even in a mod - so he switches places with Satori to have him take that fall instead, while Mateo himself returns in Act 4 to get the ending he wanted. Satori is changed from ditzy and airheaded to more level-headed and reasonable. He also has bipolar disorder, instead of clinical depression. Natsuko is changed from a Tsundere to being much more flirtatious and straightforward in his attraction to FeMC. Yuuri isn't changed that much personality-wise, but the knife obsession is replaced with pyromaniac tendencies. Mateo is changed from being sweet and kindhearted, instead becoming incredibly rude and arrogant towards MC. Aerith and Bob: Like in original, the NPCs have genuine Japanese names, then one with a European name written as if it were in Romaji (Mateo; the Italian spelling is Matteo). Ate It All: When Natsuko brings cookies to the club on the third day, Satori and FeMC immediately eat them all. Dark Secret: Almost every character has one. Satori has had bipolar disorder since childhood, Yuuri has pyromaniac tendencies, Natsuko is being abused by his mother. Mateo kills himself at the end of Act 1, but in a subversion, this turns out to be part of a Xanatos Gambit to give himself a happy ending later. Yuuri does this genuinely at the end of Act 2. Ironically, unlike his original counterpart, Satori does not do this at any point (aside from a Heroic Sacrifice in Act 3). Gender Flip: All of the main girls are now boys in this version, and the MC is now a girl. Dark secret:Invisible Parents: Nobody's parents come into the story, except for Natsuko's mother, who is implied to be abusive. Love Interest:Every single literature club member can be romanced, except for Mateo, who the Player Character dislikes deeply from before the game. Overcome Their Differences: Yuuri and Natsuko are at odds in Act 1 because of their clashing personalities and writing styles, escalating to outright fighting in Act 2, then in Act 4 are much more at ease and are brought together by writing poems on the same theme. Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Satori and the FeMC . More than energetic, she is boisterous to the point of frequently getting into detention, while he tries to guide her into gentler activities.
