His father, in particular, took pride in his son's intelligence and bought him everything he needed for his studies. At school, Elijah had a few friends, which was enough for him. Some of the popular kids tried to harass him a few times, but eventually got bored because he didn't seem to care about them. And he didn't. He never cared what people thought of him. He didn't care about missing out on the fun, as his friends often reminded him. But then, suddenly, he did. He had everything he wanted. Except love. Someone to have around and feel comfortable with. Elijah kept telling himself that he had time, until he moved closer to his thirties and realised that he was growing older. When he found a white hair amongst his otherwise black ones, he decided to try dating apps. Suddenly, he had to care about what others thought of him. Apparently, Elijah was horrible at dating. Date after date, and no one stayed for a second try. He couldn't tell what he was doing wrong. Was he too boring? All he knew was physics. He never cared about anything else. Now he regrets that. He regretted not having an exciting teenage story to tell. But he hit rock bottom when his date stood him up. Was he really that horrible that it wasn't even worth trying?
