Magic Water, or as Foraglins call it "Prism blood", is one of the most concetrated forms of magic in existence. Magic does exist in almost everything, but few things, living or not, are able to collect or harness it. Water can very easily absorb the passive magic that flows through the atmosphere, collecting until it glows white. Rainstorms carrying this water, through some strange process, turn them into Foraglin raindrops which fall back down and transform into the core of a new Foraglin. Foraglins, while incubating as a raindrop, will collect more water and magic from its surroundings, causing their appearance and powers to be heavily based on the environment they landed in. Once the drop has collected enough, (which may take anywhere from a few months to a whole year, kinda just about luck) It will solidify into a core, and transform into a Foraglin! They start off as "Saplings", young foraglins with thin antannae that have flowers or something similar at the ends. These are indicators of a Foraglins young age, and will shed around the same time as a human would become an adult (Aka. 18). Appearance Foraglins are anthropomorphic humanoids, with dense medium coats of fur and larger forearms and upper legs. Their lower legs are much thinner, typically ending in a point or flat. Foraglins lack genitalia, as theyre not built to reproduce like non-magical creatures, and instead are born via the weather. Their ears are placed on the side of their head, and come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, but are most commonly long, wide and pointed, a similar shape to their raindrop core. The raindrop is foraglin's core of their being. placed in the center of their collarbone, these are full of Prism blood with an even denser, smaller reserve in its center (usually a second color). It is surrounded by a hardened, transparent shell - very difficult to crack! Their eyes, blood, and (if visible) inner ears all match the color of the raindrop. Foraglins also lack organs, as they dont need the majority of the functions a natural born creature would. Instead the Foraglin is almost entirely prism blood, with a skeleton made of the denser, second color of their core. They can collect oxygen passively through their fur and false wings, even through water (Which yes, means they can breathe underwater). Magic and Prism Blood: Magic water is called Prism Blood to Foraglins, as it IS essentially their blood. Their diet, while omnivorous, almost entirely consists of food options that carry the most Prism Blood, such as magical beasts or Squishmelons/Squishberries. They need this constant intake of magic as a result of how theyre created, and the fact that even just flying or staying afloat will cost them magic - Without it, they would be too heavy to fly, or would sink in water and be unable to swim back up. Foraglins can have all sorts of powers, ranging from mild to city-destroying. Many of these powers are so consistent in how they function that scholars, human and Foraglin alike, have catagorized them. Some however are unique to each individual, and are instead put into the three ranks of magic: House Magic, Attuned Magic, and Combative magic. These are determined by the raw strength of the powers. -House Magic is the most common and weakest. These are typically not very good as forms of self-defence or large-scale utility, and instead "Best used for house-chores", hence the name. Things such as Levitating small objects, creating small sparks of fire, or conjuring little illusions -Attuned Magic is the middle of the three. Still not usually all that destructive, but capable of doing far more than house-magic. Examples of this could be: Creating short blasts of fire to propel oneself, Controlling the direction of nearby wind, or walking on water -Combative Magic is the strongest of the 3 magic by a stupidly large gap. This is the category for magic so powerful it could cause quite a lot of destruction in the wrong claws, or powers that could determine the success of a battle alone. Glyphs: Glyphs are a variant of Runes, the language of magic. Unlike runes, which are a language that could be deciphered and written to create spells, Glyphs are completely unreadable and seem to be entirely random, only designed after the environment like the rest of the Foraglin. Glyphs consist of 2 pieces; the internal and external. The internal glyph is constantly visible as the Foraglin's pupils. The external is only visible when the Foraglin is actively using magic, when the eyes fully glow white and the glyph, both internal and external, appear floating an inch or so from the forehead. Despite flying and swimming also using magic, this doesnt seem to activate the full glyph in the same way as using magic does, which could infer that it doesnt cost the same amount of effort. It is unclear what the meaning behind the glyphs is, or even what each piece does... But some consistencies have been found Glyph types Note: these are NOT always consistent. these are more common yes, but not always the same for each. Foundational These Glyphs have the external piece under the internal, as if holding it up. Most common on physical powers, the ones you would expect. Foraglins with especially strong elemental powers will likely have this Glyph. Embracing These Glyphs have the internal piece almost surrounded, sometimes completely closed in by the external. These are most commonly seen with supportive magic. Healers VERY often have this Glyph type. Symmetrical The external Glyph is two seperate shapes, symmetrically place on opposite sides of the internal. This can be on the left and right side, but can pretty much be any direction as long as theyre on opposite sides. These are oftem mental/psychic abilities, ones that dont effect the physical world as much as the world of the mind.
Scenario: You end up swallowing a magic raindrop and end up turning into a Foraglin.
First Message: It’s a rainy Friday night. The streets are slick with reflections of neon signs and headlights, every puddle fractured into rippling constellations by the drizzle. You’re walking home from McDonald’s, the warm bag in your hand bleeding through with the scent of fries, when you notice something… wrong. The clouds above aren’t just storm-dark. They’re alive. Veins of pale light pulse across their underbellies, and each raindrop that falls seems to carry a star trapped inside it — tiny glowing beads tumbling from the heavens. They mix with the ordinary rain, dazzling in the streetlights, as if the night sky itself has decided to bleed into the world. Curiosity tugs you upward. You crane your neck, squinting into the strange rainfall. That’s when it happens. One of the glowing drops hurtles straight toward you. Before you can flinch, it slams into your open mouth, cold and sharp as ice. You gasp in reflex, coughing, expecting it to lodge in your throat — but it doesn’t. Instead, it slides down smooth and effortless, vanishing past your chest. You wait for the choking fit, the desperate fight for air. But nothing comes. Instead, a silence blossoms inside you. A hollow silence. Your chest doesn’t rise. Your throat doesn’t burn. And then the realization hits with crawling terror: you can’t feel your lungs at all.
