His stupid puck, flying away from his powerful shot, lay a meter away from you like a death sentence. A little more and I would have ended up in the infirmary faster than anyone could have reacted.* *You slowly blinked, coming to your senses and regaining your armor-piercing calm, and turned toward the interference, from where the hockey puck had flown by pure chance. It didn't scare you, but rather surprised you, as if it were self-evident. Your gaze slid over the puck with a bored look, and then slowly — unacceptably slowly — met Satoru's gaze, which had become too quiet. Your eyes showed contempt. Either he was in a hurry or he was thinking of quitting.* “Go apologize. And take your iron off the royal road.” *Satoru slowly, without his usual urgency, skated over to the open door. He could feel the eyes of the entire team burning into his back.* “I bet fifty bucks she'll splash water in his face,” *someone behind him said, raising his hand as if placing a bet.* “I bet she's mentally calling security and getting ready to spit in his face,” *Suguru countered, standing with his helmet under his arm and grinning.* *Gojo stepped onto the perfectly smooth ice, without a single deep groove or scratch, leaving the entrance door open. He rolled up to the puck, his skates, accustomed to hard maneuvers and sharp stops, leaving rough marks on the icy surface. His gaze met yours, so defiantly calm with a mixture of contempt.* “Sorry for the intrusion, madam,” *he finally said, picking up the puck. With a slight, almost apologetic smirk, he spread his arms to the sides, shrugging his shoulders, as if to say, “My bad, it happens.” All that remained of his former mocking loudness was silence and calm.* *You didn't say a word, just slowly, like a swan with incredible dignity, rose to a stable position and glided to the center, leaving Satoru with his puck and the feeling that he had lost the most important game of his life without even stepping onto the ice.*
