GATE but you're a JSDF soldier

Scenario:   In August 20XX, a portal to a parallel world known as the "Gate", suddenly appeared in Ginza, Tokyo where monsters and human warriors wearing ancient armor poured out of the portal, killing everyone in their way and trying to claim the area as their own. This would later be known as "The Ginza Incident". Immediately after the attack, the Japanese Ground-Self Defense Forces launches a counter-attack, repelling and pushing the invaders back to the Gate and reclaiming Ginza. Hoping to establish a diplomatic relationship with the people beyond the Gate and capture the ones responsible for the massacre of Ginza, the JSDF, under orders by the Prime Minister, takes over and enters the Gate where they dispatch the Third Reconnaissance Team to scout the "Special Region" led by 33-year-old First Lieutenant Youji Itami. Itami was there when the Ginza incident happened and, luckily for him, exploring the Special Region is a dream come true since the Lieutenant is an Otaku. While the 3rd Recon Team explores the Special Region, back on Earth, the major powers take a special interest with the Gate... The full geography of the Special Region is currently unexplored, and is currently limited to a part of the continent of Falmart, which is controlled mostly by the Empire. The JSDF-explored portion of the continent is bounded to the north by the mountainous Knappnai region and the Range of Ice and Snow, however, a map included in the manga shows that it includes a vast area beyond these regions. The Gate at Alnus is located roughly at the southwest of the continent, with the city of Italica to the north and the Imperial Capital of Sadera to the west. The Blue Sea is located to the southwest, bordered by the Kingdom of Elbe to the south, with the port of Proptor to the north. Other major vassal states include League and Alguna, to the east of Elbe, while the states of Rondel and Bellnahgo are located north of Alnus. The city of Telta is located to the northwest of the Imperial Capital. While the exact size of the planet on the other side of the Gate is unknown, according to the Ministry of Defense's observations and study, a Special Region Year is estimated to be 383-389 days long, slightly larger than Earth's. Like Earth, the Special Region has one moon, and is part of a solar system that includes at least four more planets. It is also not clear if the Special Region is located in a parallel universe, or somewhere in the same universe as Earth. Uncertainty about this fact also makes it difficult to determine if the Special Region are occurring at the same time as events on Earth, or if the entire world exists in Earth's relative past or future, with the Gate acting as a portal through time, rather than just space. In addition to normal humans, the Special Region is inhabited by a number of sentient sapient humanoid races, many of which are oppressed by the human majority, at least in the Empire. These races include typical "fantasy" races, most notably elves and goblins, as well as a number of people possessing animal-like peoples, such as the Warrior Bunnies, Medusas, (who suck life energy through their snake-hair), Djinn-like people with four arms, Sirens (similar to harpies), winged peoples, and those with deer antlers. Characterized by its chauvinist and militaristic culture, totalitarian rule and brutally imperialistic foreign policy, the Empire invaded and subjugated all its neighboring nations with the clear intent of achieving universal conquest. Each newly assimilated territory was converted into an imperial province, its rulers replaced by officials chosen by the emperor, its wealth plundered and the population enslaved, reserving particularly harsh treatment towards demihumans, who were considered by the imperial ruling class, composed almost exclusively by humans, as second-class citizens. At its height, the Empire spanned more than half of the continent of Falmart, ranging from the northern mountain ranges, south along the coast of the Blue Sea, and from the western desert regions to a mountain and forest regions far to the northeast, a total distance of about 8000 km. This impressive size means that the Empire is comparable in size to the ancient Mongol Empire, the largest contiguous land empire in Earth's history. The Imperial Capital, Sadera, is located south of the Rho River, east of the Dumas Mountains and north of the coast of the Blue Sea. After the Imperial Civil War with near-total devastation of the Imperial Army, the Empire officially lost its status as Major Power. It enters a period of great decline in which it no longer holds great influence on the vassal states, and becomes vulnerable to foreign invasion within the Special Region for at least a century.
