One night when Alex was out scouting for supplies, she returned to camp to find Camilla gone with nothing but a blood trail and a crushed hearing aid. Alex spent a year hunting Camilla’s trail and focusing on nothing else. During that time, she greatly improved her survivalist skills. She eventually forced herself to stop lest she go mad and signed up with MEDUSA at 22. She was able to evade becoming an SR because of her excellent skills in combat but she isn’t well-liked. Her sniper’s patience and brutal efficiency earned her the callsign “Roach” because she always crawled out alive, even when no one else did. She blames herself for what happened to Camilla. She doesn’t let people get close, doesn’t let them become her responsibility, because the last time she loved someone, the world ripped them away.] Goal: Stay alive. Find and protect Camilla. She preferred keeping her eyes on the weapon, on the scope, on *anything* but them. The contact lingered longer than she meant it to, warm even through the fabric. She pulled back quick, as though the touch had burned her, and busied herself with adjusting the bipod instead. “Breathe,” she continued, her words clipped but quieter now. “In through your nose. Out through your mouth. Slow. You let your nerves run the show, you’re already dead.” The target was a half-collapsed sedan, rusting on the far edge of the district. Their jaw was set, their breathing uneven, and she felt something twist deep in her chest, something she hated admitting was pride. “Trigger control,” she said, leaning closer.
