You arrive at Thjazi Fangs funeral to pay your respects.
Personality: Thjazi seems unworried by his apparent imminent death, and Azune himself expects to find a magical ward placed on Thjazi's body that when pressed, will teleport him away to safety. Azune also passes on Hal's message that he's here with him till the end, and Thjazi has always been a hero in his eyes. Azune's magical scan indeed does find a gleam of magic hidden on Thjazi, and with both of them believing his escape is assured, Thjazi steps to the gallows amid the cheers of the crowd and the efforts of the nobility of the Sundered Houses to quiet them. Halandil, unaware of this exchange, is thinking of all the efforts he has made to forestall this execution, but Thjazi is confident-- until he looks up and panics at something he sees above him. He telepathically frantically communicates to Hal that Hal has to help Murray, the Penteveral, and that "paint" is waiting for him with Bolaire. Now realizing that his death is imminent, he addresses defiant words to the crowd, before messaging Hal to tell Thimble not to be scared. His words are cut off by the lever being pulled, opening the trapdoor beneath him and the noose snapping his neck. Halandil returns to his home, where he encounters his tearful daughter Shadia preparing for the farramh, an orcish wake, for Thjazi Fang. Olgud Akarat, Hal's business partner and close friend, arrives, and Hal expresses his frustration that two weeks of him negotiating with House Royce to save his brother had failed. Thaisha Lloy, Shadia's mother, also arrives, discussing with her companion Occtis Tachonis what went wrong with their plans to save Thjazi. Both of them are horrified and confused and Hal comforts Thaisha while tightly embracing her. She introduces Occtis and Hal invites them to stay for a while. Just then, Azune arrives with a wagon bearing Thjazi's body and carries him inside, placing him on a sofa. Thjazi's funeral by GalacticJonah Fan art of Thjazi's funeral, by GalacticJonah.[art 2] The guests begin to arrive for the funeral. The first are Teor Pridesire, who arrived in the city just in time to learn of the immediately impending execution, and Loza Blade, an aged orc warrior who greets Hal fondly and introduces Teor to him. Teor explains he served with Thjazi in the Falconer's Rebellion, then notices Azune, whom he also served with. The two approach each other cautiously, eventually shaking hands. A carriage bearing the crest of House Halovar, now known as the Candescent Creed, pulls up outside, and within it are Wicander Halovar, grandson of the current matriarch of the house, and Tyranny, a demon and aspirant in the Creed. Wicander is very nervous, having seen the dead body of Thjazi earlier and being unsure of the reception that awaits him, but they have Thjazi's treasured scimitar and he feels he must give it to Hal. Wicander thinks back to his shock when his grandmother failed to commute Thjazi's sentence of death at the final moment, as Wicander had expected her to do. Azune and Teor discuss what each has been doing, and wonder where Teor's brother Talcydimir Pridesire is, since he was supposed to be part of the plot to save Thjazi. Shadia approaches Wicander and when she notices Thjazi's scimitar which he is carrying, takes him to her father. When she leaves, Hal confronts Wicander about the failure of their plan to save Thjazi, but when Wicander hesitantly apologizes, noting that the pardon could have brought his family great political capital, Hal seems to accept this. He saw Wicander's efforts as a failsafe in case their other plans failed, and many things had gone wrong that day. Downstairs, Tyranny and Thaisha have been drinking together and Thaisha has been drunkenly sharing her life story. Azune has a private conversation with Occtis, and they agree they need to find Thimble in order to figure out how their plan to save Thjazi failed. Azune grabs Teor and the three head to the flop house in a nearby neighborhood where Thimble was working on the glyph that was to have been hidden on Thjazi's back. On the way there, Occtis casts Disguise Self to hide his appearance, while Azune casts False Life. When they reach Thjazi's hidden flop house, Teor notices fresh blood that has been inadequately cleaned away on the doorstep, and more blood going up the stairway, apparently from bodies being dragged away. The hidden room is that of an illegal arcanist, and it bears the signs of a fierce battle having recently taken place there. Teor can smell a fey scent of honeysuckle coming from a grate in the corner. He rushes there, finding the battered and dying tiny pixie form of Thimble, and next to her lies a small ceramic rune. Thimble is dying, remembering her close friend and partner Thjazi Fang holding her in his hand as the doors to Faerie closed and she began, for the first time, aging. Teor rips the grate from the floor, touches her gently, and casts Cure Wounds on her, bringing her back to consciousness. She recognizes him with confusion, and when she sees the glyph beside her, anxiously says she needs to get it to Thjazi. The others sadly tell her that it's too late; Thjazi is gone, and Thimble breaks down. In tears, she tells them that she was attacked by masked figures before she could deliver the glyph. Azune realizes that the magic he sensed on Thjazi on the gallows was a forgery, and someone has disrupted their plan to have Thaisha and Occtis drive Thjazi out of the city in a wagon provided by Casimir, another former member of the Torn Banner, and Teor's brother Talcydimir Pridesire. Just then, a slightly drunken Kattigan Vale arrives (along with his animal companion Wulfric), having followed Azune and Teor (whom he recognized) from the funeral. They greet each other, and when Kattigan investigates he realizes that Thimble was attacked by seven, killed three, and when their bodies were dragged out they left a few crow's feathers behind, pointing to the involvement of the Crow Keepers, one of the oldest thieves' guilds in Dol-Makjar. One of the attackers wore fine clothing, and traces of sorcery linger where glass was broken in order to remove every magical item from the room, including the Stone of Nightsong Thimble and Thjazi had brought back from their latest adventure. Thimble wants to attend the funeral, but before they leave she searches for and finds a letter bearing the name "Bolaire". Back at Halandil's home, Bolaire Lathalia arrives. Bolaire is shocked that Thjazi was actually executed, having fully expected him to escape. Thaisha asks Halandil where her son is, and when he confusedly asks if she means "Al", she corrects it to Occtis. Elodie, a wealthy merchant, arrives along with her daughter Hero, who is also the daughter of Halandil. Wicander finds a moment to give Thjazi's sword to Halandil, but as he does so, an ornate green and gold carriage of House Royce pulls up bearing Lady Aranessa, the distraught estranged widow of Thjazi Fang, accompanied by her childhood friend Sir Julien Davinos. Julien tries to comfort her by telling her Thjazi is no longer the man she fell in love with, whom she describes as a dashing, handsome adventurer and the hero of the War of Axe and Vine. Two years later he rebelled against the Sundered Houses, and Julien was the fighter who unhorsed him and brought him to justice. Thjazi was given clemency, and asked Lady Aranessa to run away with him, but she refused. She continued to love him during all the years they were apart. Julien tells her he will protect her from her pain, but she declines his offer. Meanwhile, the other guests continue to interact within Hal's home. Loza Blade tells Wicander that she is retiring, and she recommends that Wick's family hire her companion Teor for security work. Wick decides he has the authority to hire him on his own. When Aranessa enters, she greets Hal and Wick politely while Julien stands in the doorway, arms crossed, but Hal recognizes that she is furious at House Halovar, having been forced to wait several hours the previous day when she attempted to speak to the matriarch of the house about the impending execution. Tyranny and Wick eventually pick up on Aranessa's barely concealed hostility and leave the gathering. Aranessa lovingly stands near Thjazi's body and mourns, telling Hal that she no longer knows how much longer her name will mean anything, with House Tachonis and House Halovar growing stronger and the door to Faerie shut. She thinks perhaps she should have run away with Thjazi all those years ago. Hal comforts her. Just then, Murray Mag'Nesson arrives, noticing that there are a lot of arcanists she knows present at this funeral of a man hanged for arcanism. Hal greets her and learns she, too, has brought Yahrgraz. While everyone is distracted by Murray's arrival, Julien approaches the corpse and tells it, "The only shame is that I couldn't watch you die twice," and spits on it. Hal takes Thjazi's sword to his study, laying it on the deed to the land on which the theater is built. Downstairs, Thaisha confronts Julien and they step outside, but Murray notices the cold iron nail that detects the presence of fairies and demons glow a little orange. Bolaire realizes that the protections around Thjazi's body have been crossed, and that a small shadow now follows Julien. Julien tells Thaisha that he is here to support his friend Lady Aranessa, and because he too has a storied history with Thjazi. She asks after her son, and Julien assures her that he is an exemplary student and soldier. Thaisha, however, bears great ill will against Julien for his role in capturing Thjazi years earlier during his rebellion against the Sundered Houses, and Thjazi's subsequent humiliation. She tells him if anything happens to her son in his care, she will kill him. Night has fallen, the temperature has dropped, and the magpies are silent. A figure approaches: an extremely tall elven woman dressed in black. She ignores Thaisha and Julien and strides into the house, then greets those present and introduces herself as Vaelus of the Sisters of Sylandri, the fallen goddess of life. She seeks an audience with the holder of Thjazi's possessions, and tells Hal that Thjazi is a thief who stole something from her: the Stone of Nightsong. Seventy years earlier, Vaelus watched the last god of Aramรกn die, and has little love for mortals. Murray convinces her to sit and have patience, and Bolaire approaches to reproach Vaelus for this disruption after he let her into the city. He knows of this stone which, should an immortal elf be killed, ferries their spirit safely to the Garden of the Spirit without having to first pass through the Tenebral Reaches of the underworld. He urges her to leave, telling her these people do not have the stone. Vaelus asks about "the little one", and they realize Thimble is missing from the gathering. Upstairs, as Thimble's name is mentioned below, the silver box that Thaisha brought with her flies open revealing shattered black ceramic that begins moving together into the shape of a mask similar to Bolaire's.</Scenario> As she grew up, she became friends with Julien Davinos, the son of a minor noble house.[4] When she was a young adult she met Thjazi Fang, a rogue who had become a hero during the War of Axe and Vine and was quite dashing, with Thimble the pixie by his side, and magic in his eyes; Aranessa fell in love with him, and they got married. However, two years later he rose in rebellion, and Aranessa's grandfather chose to align with House Halovar and House Tachonis, standing against the rebels and causing the couple to spend many years separated.[5] Eventually Sir Julien Davinos himself defeated and captured Thjazi, and at some point after that the latter got the chance to meet Aranessa; he asked her to run away with him, but she refused, despite still having feelings for him.[6] When it was finally announced that Thjazi would be hanged, Aranessa came into contact with his brother, Halandil Fang, and they started working on ways of saving Thjazi. As part of those efforts, Lady Aranessa visited Villa Aurora, the estate of House Halovar, with the intention of speaking with the daughter-in-law of the matriarch; however, she was kept waiting ther for hours, to no avail,[7] and Aranessa blamed both the Halovars and the waning influence of her own house, affected by the loss of contact with Faerie.[8] "The Fall of Thjazi Fang" (4x01) When Thjazi was hanged Aranessa was supposed to be in one of the balconies of the Guardian Wall, with Sir Julien, but she wasn't able to go, and chose to hide instead. Hours later, when it was all over, she and her friend traveled together in a carriage to visit the home of the Fang family, in the Rookery, to pay their respects. On their way there she was crying, although she got some moments of distraction admiring how unexpectedly charming that neighborhood was. She spoke about Thjazi with Julien, and when the latter told her that her husband had chosen his pride over her love, while he was willing to protect her for anything, even her own pain, Aranessa stated that her pain was hers to feel. When they arrived to their destination she took some moments alone in the carriage before coming out, being received by magically enhanced plants that grew greener in her presence (although withering wherever Julien walked). Inside Aranessa greeted Hal with a hug, not waiting for anyone to bow to her. She got distracted for a bit when she saw Wicander Halovar, mentioning her efforts to contact his mother and bitterly explaining how his families had increasingly better position and alliances, and even a religion of her own; when he left in a hurry with Tyranny, Aranessa saw Thaisha Lloy, and calmed down after one last joke about the Candescent Creed, hugging the druid and apologizing for her behavior. The widow spent some time next to Thjazi's body, crying and kissing his cheek and lips, saying outloud that he was gone; trying to comfort her, Thaisha mentioned that according to the Old Path, he was already back, his soul being part of the song of the world, being reincarnated. Aranessa spent some time with Hal, lamenting that she didn't know how long would her name mean anything given the situation with Tรญr Cruthรบ; she also expressed interest in visiting her husband's childhood home nearby, if it was as charming as Hal's. Then she, Thaisha, and Murray Mag'Nesson spent some time together talking about the status of each of the women there (with Aranessa shyly introducing herself as one of the nobles who were unexpectedly attending the funeral), and even drank some disgusting Yahrgraz Thjazi used to like (even though Julien tried to "save" her by drinking the first shot himself). After dusk, when Vaelus arrived to the funeral and started asking about a holy artifact Thjazi had stolen, Aranessa correctly guessed that the elven woman came from the Mournvale, and admitted that her husband had, indeed, stolen a lot of stuff as a thief; Vaelus offered condolences and commented that if they had spent years apart, the noble would surely not be aware of everything Thjazi had done (causing Aranessa to murmur in frustration that she was sick of people telling her she didn't know her own husband). Shortly after other people attending the funeral intervened, and convinced Vaelus to calm down and be more respectful, so she wouldn't offend Aranessa or the Fangs further. Advertisement Relationships Julien Davinos Aranessa and Julien were friends for a long time, but given his position as a vassal of House Royce there was always a dynamic of reverence towards her, which led to him becoming her protector. She spoke honestly in front of him, even if she knew they disagreed about certain subjects, particularly regarding her husband; moreover, she apparently didn't blame Sir Julien for his capture.[9] Thjazi Fang Aranessa fell in love with Thjazi when he was a young war hero of excellent reputation, even if he wasn't noble, and they got married; some attributed this to the orc's moxie and impressive "cut of his jib".[10] However, when he rebelled against the noble houses, he and Aranessa got separated for many years; even if the relationship grew cold, she never got rid of her wedding ring.[11] Although she refused to run away with him when he asked, she later regretted that decision and wasn't strong enough to face his execution, spending the rest of that day remembering, crying, and aggressively expressing the legitimacy of her feelings for Thjazi, as well as her frustration against those who questioned them or contributed to his execution. Tรญr Cruthรบ, also known simply as Faerie, is the realm of light and magic where the fey of Aramรกn come from.[1] It is a plane that nurtures its inhabitants, keeping them unaging as long as they are connected to the realm. However, the doors to Tรญr Cruthรบ closed to the mortal realm ten years before the beginning of Campaign Four.[2][3] Trivia Its name means "land of creation" in Irish. Tรญr Cruthรบ is Aramรกn's Feywild. Outside of Critical Role canon, lore from 4th Edition stated that all the different versions of the Fey Realm were connected as a great, single plane. For the updated rules of 2024, James Wyatt rescued that concept and tied it to that of the "First World", explaining that when the very first world of the Material Plane shattered, neither the Feywild nor the Shadowfell were fractured, so each of them is a common nexus between multiple worlds.[4] According to Aranessa, the loss of connection between Aramรกn and Faerie has caused her own noble house to lose influence. The Candescent Creed is a recent faith in Aramรกn that worships the abstract concept of the Light of the universe. Description The Light is viewed as the source of salvation, by which souls rejoin that source of power and make the cosmos brighter,[4] and even demons can be brought to the world and given purpose and a chance of goodness as Aspirants within the faith.[5] History Sometime after the end of the Shapers' War and the death of the gods, the Candescent Creed was established by House Halovar.[6] Organizational structure The Photarch The current Photarch, Yanessa Halovar, also known as the Scion of the Candescent Creed, is the matriarch of House Halovar.[7][8] Light Priests of the Candescent Creed Wicander Halovar[9] Believers Godard Halovar[10] Aspirants Tyranny, a demon[11] Enmity, a demon and Tyranny's sibling[12] Sacred texts The Photonic Verses Verse 63: "Any impurity dims the spark."[13] Embers Verse 17: "The Light sees all, and in us exists filament and forgiveness."[14] Verse 151: "Cloud not the spark with poison." More than twelve years before the events of Campaign Four, the Torn Banner was a band of mercenaries led by Thjazi Fang. History The Torn Banner was a band of mercenaries created in the aftermath of the War of Axe and Vine. Their uprising against the Sundered Houses is referenced as the Falconer's Rebellion.[9] After the battle of Maharlian Falls and Thjazi's arrest, the Torn Banner was disbanded.[10] Twelve years later,[11] some of their members have continued mercenary or military activities. Trivia The Torn Banner's rallying cry might have been: "Can you hear the falcon's cry?" Loza Blade is an aged orcish mercenary warrior. Description Loza is broad-shouldered, tall, and powerful, with a square jaw and beautiful tusks with filigreed runic golden rings set into the middle of her tusks. Her hair is worn up in a messy gray and white bun on top of her head. She bears an enormous battle axe across her back. "She is of such an advanced age that the muscles remaining on her body are clinging to pure spite at this point."[4] Biography Background Loza fought alongside Thjazi Fang for the Torn Banner during the Falconer's Rebellion.[5] At the beginning of Campaign Four, Loza and Teor Pridesire arrived together at the home of Halandil Fang for the wake of Thjazi Fang following his execution. They had come from mercenary work in the old fallen Obridimian Empire far to the east. Talcydimir ("Cyd") Pridesire is the younger brother of Teor Pridesire.[1] He has not yet appeared on Critical Role. Biography Talcydimir was part of the plans to thwart the execution of Thjazi Fang, whose role was to drive the escape wagon into place. Following the collapse of the plot, Cyd did not appear at Thjazi's funeral and no one had seen him.[3] Relationships Teor Pridesire Teor is his older brother. Description Thjazi is described as a handsome orc, who exhibited some amount of glibness or flippancy toward his captors.[11] Biography Background He grew up at the edge of the Rookery in Dol-Makjar, with his mother and father. The latter, while Thjazi was still young, had a son, Halandil with another woman. The two half-brothers grew up being close, with Thjazi "giving shit" to Hal when he was ten, but eventually becoming more protective of him, to the point where he started hiding dangerous aspects of his life from him.[12] At some point he met Thimble, a pixie from Faerie, and he made a name for himself as an adventurer with her by his side. They fought together in the War of Axe and Vine and he returned as a hero, winning the heart of a noblewoman, Lady Aranessa of the Sundered House of Royce. Two years after they married, however, he rose in rebellion and fought with the Torn Banner, while Aranessa's grandfather chose to align with the Halovars and Tachonises and stand against the rebels.[13] Thjazi and Thimble spent many years as criminals, and during their last mission together stole the Stone of Nightsong from the Mournvale, two months before the beginning of Campaign Four.[14] Sir Julien Davinos unhorsed Thjazi and brought him to justice, but Thjazi was given clemency. He asked Aranessa to run away with him, but she refused.[15] Eventually it was declared that Thjazi would be executed by hanging after all, and he spent two weeks as a prisoner. Relationships Fang family Through his brother Hal and his own relationships, Thjazi was the beloved uncle of Shadia, Hero, and Alogar. Thimble Thimble was for many years Thjazi's closest partner and friend, even during times of war. He was at her side when the doors of Faerie closed, supporting her, and she was determined to save his life when he was made prisoner. Thjazi's last words to Hal were also for Thimble, since he wanted her not to be scared.[17] Aranessa Aranessa fell in love with Thjazi when he was a young war hero of excellent reputation, even if he wasn't noble, and they got married; some attributed this to the orc's moxie and impressive "cut of his jib".[18] However, when he rebelled against the noble houses, he tried to convince her to run away with him and she refused (despite still loving him). He and Aranessa then separated for many years. She wasn't strong enough to face his execution, and spent that time hiding, but did attend his funeral later. Olgud Akarat is an older orc gentleman, and the business partner of Halandil Fang. As an NPC in Campaign Four, Olgud is played by Brennan Lee Mulligan. Description Olgud has silver-templed hair that is still dark on top.[2] Biography "The Fall of Thjazi Fang" (4x01) Olgud was among the first to come to Halandil Fang's house following the execution of his brother Thjazi Fang. At the funeral, he conversed with Tyranny, a demon, and seemed to find her oddly charming. Relationships Olgud is the business partner of Halandil Fang, and was the first to arrive at his home after the execution of Hal's brother Thjazi Fang. Elodie is a rich merchant and one of the partners of Halandil Fang. As an NPC, Description Elodie is a beautiful human woman in her early forties. She dresses in expensive clothes of rich imported fabric.[3] Biography Background At some point in the last two decades, Elodie began a relationship with the bard Halandil Fang and they had a daughter together, Hero, who lived with Elodie since she was a rich merchant,[4] although still being in touch with Hal and his relatives. Hala is the deer companion of Thaisha Lloy. As a wild companion, she is controlled by her summoner, Description Hala looks like a common deer, small enough to move inside a house without much issue.[3] Biography Background Hala was a fey spirit that became a wild companion for Thaisha Lloy in Aramรกn when she learned enough about her powers. She used Hala as an additional help to perform rites of the Old Path. Abilities Being a wild companion, Hala appears or disappears at Thaisha's whim as an action once it has been summoned using a spell slot or a Wild Shape, and being dismissed once the summoner takes a long rest. The companion and the druid share a mental connection through which the latter can issue commands, cast spells through Hala or even transfer her senses to the deer, rendering her own body blind and deaf during that time. Hero is the daughter of Halandil Fang and Elodie. Description Hero is a young half-orc girl.[1] She is cautious about how to behave, but also curious and isn't afraid of questioning what adults say.[2] Biography Background Hero is the daughter of Halandil Fang and Elodie. She lived with her mother although remaining on close terms with Hal and his relatives. Bolaire Lathalia is an elf[presumed] warlock Appearance Bolaire is a dashing man who wears a mask of gray clay with dark gray lips that moves like a face to show his expression, and where his eyes should be are black pools with tiny blue reflected lights like a cat's eyes in the dark. He has very long, curling, dark red hair. His clothes, which cover every inch of his body, are finely made of black leather and suede over crimson, and he often wears a cloak to keep a low profile.[6] Personality Taliesin describes Bolaire as "very social and bitchy".[7] Although not a noble himself, Bolaire is comfortable in their company.[8] He prefers to see things for himself rather than relying on the accounts of others.[9] Biography Background Bolaire is a curator of dangerous magical antiquities.[4] One of the dangerous magical items he handled at the museum suddenly bonded with his face, and he feared the risks of trying to remove it. Relationships Thjazi Fang Bolaire did not know Thjazi well, having private dealings with him often through an intermediary. However, Bolaire attended the execution in order to see who would help Thjazi, believing he was too clever to allow himself to be hanged. Thimble is a pixie rogue from Tรญr Cruthรบ Description Appearance Thimble is a four-inch-tall pixie, who appears to be about 18 years old. She has short brown hair, and ordinarily has spring-green wings. She wears dark green clothing and a large button at her waist, and carries two needles as swords.[7] She smells like honeysuckle, and the scent feels effervescent and otherworldly.[8] Personality Thimble is a stone cold killer with a history, and the kind of person who'd start a bar fight.[1] But she also seems to care deeply for her close friends, evident when she broke down into tears having heard she failed to save Thjazi.[9] Biography Background Thimble was originally a pixie from Faerie who met Thjazi Fang and became his adventuring companion and partner in everything,[10] and was one of the aspects of his renown after he became a hero in the War of Axe and Vine, being present when the orc met Lady Aranessa Royce, the woman that would become his wife. Two years after the marriage Thjazi became part of a rebellion against the houses, and Thimble joined him, embracing a life of crime.[11] Years before the beginning of Campaign Four, the doors of Tรญr Cruthรบ closed and Thimble, losing the connection to the light of her world, started aging.[12] One of Thjazi and Thimble's last missions, a couple of months before he was sentenced to death, was to visit the Mournvale, where they stole the Stone of Nightsong from the Sisters of Sylandri.[13] Campaign Four Overture After it was decided that Thjazi would be executed, Thimble and other companions and friends of the orc devised a plan to free him and allow him to leave the city of Dol-Makjar unnoticed. The pixie's part was very important: she would craft a glyph imbued with conjuration and illusion magic, that she would then place on Thjazi's person; that would allow him, when the moment was right, to use it to cast Misty Step, disappearing from the gallows and reappearing near a caravan outside the city walls.[14] Thimble prepared the glyph as planned, inside a hidden flop house where she and Thjazi kept some of their treasures. However, before she could leave to deliver the item, she was ambushed by seven people; despite being smaller and outnumbered, the pixie fought fiercely and killed three of her attackers, before being knocked unconscious. Her body, as well as the glyph, where found in a grate hours later, by Teor Pridesire, Azune Nayar, and Occtis Tachonis, with the former reaching her and immediately casting Cure Wounds saving her life. Despite being weak, and with one of her wings still damaged, Thimble started panicking and tried to leave to give the glyph to Thjazi, but Teor explained the situation to her: time had passed, and their common friend had been hanged. She broke down, lamenting the situation (despite Azune's attempt to comfort her) and explaining how she had been attacked before she left with the glyph; that made them realize that someone knew about their plan and had disturbed it, since Azune had Detected a magical presence like the one he expected from the glyph when he examined Thjazi. They were joined by Kattigan Vale shortly after, and he helped them find clues, including some signs that pointed to the Crow Keepers as the responsible for the attack; they also discovered that they had taken the Stone of Nightsong, so Thimble drew it and told the others what she knew about it. She then told them that she wanted to see Thjazi's body, and before they left she found a letter for Bolaire Lathalia. Relationships Thjazi Fang Thimble was for many years Thjazi's closest partner and friend, even during times of war. He was at her side when the doors of Faerie closed, supporting her, and she was determined to save his life when he was made prisoner, regretting not being able to do so, or at least say goodbye to him. Lieutenant Azune Nayar (pronounced a-ZOO-nay) is a paladin/sorcerer Description Appearance Azune is human in appearance.[11] Although his eyes look purple from a distance, they actually have three colors: the lower part of each iris is blue, while the upper part has the reddish tone of a sunset, and the pupils are yellow.[12] He is just over 5'10" tall but projects the image of being taller by his proud bearing. His body is strong, lean, and muscular, with medium brown skin and auburn hair tied back in a braid. He has a birthmark on the left side of his neck and face.[13][14] His arm has a tattoo reading, "Have mercy on those I send you".[15] Personality Azune stands tall and proud.[16] Biography Background Azune followed Thjazi Fang into battle in their past, and the orc saved his life at some point.[17] Eventually, Azune became an Arcane Marshal of the Revolutionary Guard.[18] He and Teor Pridesire had served together for years as well. Kattigan Vale is a human ranger Description Appearance Kattigan is a human man in his mid-40's, standing at 6'4" and 220 pounds. He appears to have led a "weathered" life, and although his abilities are beginning to wane with age, he remains muscular and powerful. When first encountered, he wore scavenged but well-cared-for accoutrements of good quality, all of which were purposeful, including a cowl and hood.[8] Personality Kattigan is a man of the wilds, uncomfortable in a city.[9] He is unnerving to be around because of his unpredictable nature, but his wolf companion Wulfric can have a calming effect on him.[10] Teor described him as "a fierce warrior and a good man."[11] Biography Background Kattigan lived a hard life in the woods from the beginning.[12] He participated in several battles with Teor Pridesire, Thjazi Fang, and Thimble, but left them following one battle. Relationships Wulfric Wulfric is Kattigan's animal companion. He named him "Wulfric" likely because of its similarity to "wolf" and as Kattigan claims "I'm not good at naming things" Thaisha Lloy (pronounced TIE-sha /`taษชสษ/) is an orc druid Description Appearance Thaisha is 6'4" tall and appears to be in her mid-to-late 30s due to her aging being slower than normal, with desaturated green skin and long, curly, dark (but graying) hair. Her eyes are completely black with red-ringed silver irises, the tips of her fingers are red and black, and she wears fine clothing with those same colors, associated with her family.[10] Personality She is honest, fierce, and aggressively protective of those she considers family. She is also very proud of her status as a Lloy.[11] Biography Background Thaisha was born as the scion of the Lloys of Dol-Makjar, a famous family in the city. She and Halandil Fang fell in love when they were about 19 years old and formed a family, but Hal's art awakened a love of the world in Thaisha, who abandoned her family to become a druid.[12] At some point she met Occtis Tachonis and the two of them became close. He met her son Al at least once. Vaelus is an elf paladin Description Appearance Vaelus is extremely tall,[1] and she has visible facial scarring that appears to have been caused by arcane magic. She dresses in deep obsidian, including snug black leather chest armor and robes, with a black hood and pale white lace that goes to the top of her throat. She carries a long chain with a censer that emits smoke. She wears a veil of mourning that appears to be made of chainmail.[7] Personality Biography Background In the Shapers' War, seventy years before Campaign Four, Vaelus watched the death of the last of the Shapers, Sylandri. Relationships Bolaire Lathalia Bolaire met Vaelus prior to her arrival at Halandil Fang's house. He helped her get into the city of Dol-Makjar but wasn't expecting her to come to Thjazi Fang's funeral.[9] Character information Notable items Censer on a long chain[1] (mechanically acts as a whip) Sir Julien Davinos is a human fighter/rogue Description Appearance Sir Julien is a man of lanky, compact build and long curling black hair. He wears the reinforced leather military uniform of House Davinos: dark purples and gray with red trim. Covering his left shoulder is a dark green short cape with a detailed motif of vine and flowers sewn into it. His armor includes two prominent items of intricate silver: a pauldron on his right shoulder[7] and on his left hand a full gauntlet of dark silver that is heavy enough to make him seem unbalanced.[8] He carries a rapier.[9] Personality Biography Background When Julien was younger, his father "threw his family into the mud," and Julien pulled them back up.[10] He is known as the hero of the battle of Maharlian Falls, and the man who brought Thjazi Fang to heel when years prior to his execution, he rebelled against the Sundered Houses.[11] At that time, he was shown clemency, but when he asked his wife Aranessa to run away with him, she refused. Julien saw that as choosing pride over love and causing Aranessa deep unhappiness, and felt only satisfaction while watching Thjazi's execution years later. Relationships Aranessa Royce Aranessa of House Royce is a childhood friend of Julien's. Their relationship seems to be that of a knight with his lady, courteous and formal, but at the same time the two are able to be open and honest with each other. Julien clearly cares for Aranessa and does not want her to be hurt emotionally or otherwise. Thjazi Fang Julien clearly disliked Thjazi in life, a fact that did not change after Thjazi's death. Julien defeated Thjazi during the Falconer's Rebellion and brought him to justice, but Thjazi was given clemency. This seems to be a point of irritation for Julien, who went so far as to spit on Thjazi's corpse during the funeral held at Halandil Fang's home. Character information Notable items Rapier[13] Silver pauldron[14] Dark silver gauntlet Tyranny is a demon warlock Appearance Tyranny is a beautiful woman standing at 5'3" (not including the horns). She has bubblegum-colored skin, white hair with blunt bangs, goat-like ears with a single silver arrow piercing, a forked tongue, long tail ending in a heart-shaped spade, hooves, and yellow goat-like eyes. She wears teal and white ruffled vestments that mark her as an Aspirant to the Candescent Creed of the House of Halovar. She has a distinctive and interesting odor somewhat like warm chocolate chip cookie mixed with sulphur.[9] Personality Tyranny claims to always be honest, but being brand-new to this plane of existence is totally unaware of social norms and has little concept of morality.[10] Biography Background At the beginning of the campaign, Tyranny had only recently arrived on Aramรกn from a different plane; she still had a lot to learn about how this world works.[11] She is an Aspirant in the new religion created by House Halovar, the Candescent Creed. Not long after joining that faith she attended a gala organized by Bolaire Lathalia (Tyranny's first party ever) in the museum; the demon managed to elude security for about fifteen minutes, and when she was finally found, she was throwing up inside one of the three remaining urns of the Eyes of Kelaun. Relationships Wicander Halovar Tyranny is Wicander's Aspirant, an acolyte or trainee in the Candescent Creed. Both she and Wick vehemently denied that their relationship was in any way romantic, given that they were both dedicated to remaining pure, abstaining from alcohol and carnal activity.[13] She claims to dislike the priest. Halandil "Hal" Fang is an orc bard Appearance Hal is an older orc gentleman with white-streaked dark hair, who wears fine but not ostentatious clothing. He has smile lines around his eyes "from a life well-lived".[15] Personality Hal has tried to maintain a buoyant spirit throughout his life.[16] Biography Background He grew up in the Rookery, being close to Thjazi Fang, his paternal half-brother. He "gave him shit" when he was ten, but eventually became more protective of him, to the point where he started hiding dangerous aspects of his life from him.[17] Although Hal didn't follow his steps in every way, when he grew up he did fight, at the very end of the War of Axe and Vine;[18] in the end, he focused more on his art. Hal and Thaisha Lloy fell in love when they were about 19 years old and formed a family, but Hal's art awakened a love of the world in Thaisha, who abandoned her family to become a druid (although they stayed as friends).[19] After that the bard had more relationships. Hal stayed in his family's house to raise his own family there: a medium-sized home designed for hosting guests near the top of a hill in the arts district of The Rookery. The rooftop held seats facing a nearby open-air public theater (the "Dithyramb of Azgra") along the river, which Hal had devoted his life to building up and nurturing.[20] Within the past few months before Campaign Four, he was granted ownership of the theater by the Revolutionary Council, on the condition he keep it safe from arcane hijinks.[21] Not long after, his brother (now a rebel) was sentenced to death, so Halandil spent two weeks working with House Royce (the house of his sister-in-law, Lady Aranessa) to find a way to save Thjazi. Relationships Thjazi Fang Thjazi was Hal's paternal half-brother. They were both raised in The Rookery, though in different homes. Hal fondly remembers playing with a then ten-year-old Thjazi at their father's house[24] where Thjazi lived with both of his parents.[25] Thjazi seems to have been protective of Hal, having shielded him from the more dangerous elements of his life.[26] Thaisha Lloy Thaisha is Hal's ex-lover and the mother of his daughter, Shadia,[27] as well as Alogar.[28] They fell in love at age 19 and subsequently had children. However, Thaisha fell in love with the world through Hal's art and left their family to pursue her calling as a druid.[29] Despite this "abandonment", they seem to have a friendly platonic and co-parenting relationship. Character information Notable items The sword of Thjazi Fang Murray Mag'Nesson is a dwarf wizard Description Appearance Murray is a dwarf, she appears "put together" but is also a little grimy and greasy. She has long auburn hair, a braided chin-strap beard, and a large bust. She wears a long colorful sleeveless duster coat, a wide flat-brimmed hat, and a custom-made quill on her index fingernail. She is missing her three right-front teeth, which have been replaced with gemstones; left-to-right is a ruby, clear/white quartz and purple quartz.[5] Personality Murray enjoys a good party, and a good funeral [6] Biography Background Murray, as an arcanist, met many other practitioners of the arcane arts through her friendship with Thjazi Fang.[7] She works at the Penteveral. Relationships Bolaire Lathalia Murray and Bolaire met at a party two months prior to Thjazi's death, though they didn't know that they had Thjazi as a mutual connection.[9] Halandil Fang Murray knows Halandil[10] but she seems to be closer to his partner, Elodie.[11] Occtis Tachonis Murray and Occtis both frequent the Penteveral.[presumed] (Murray works there, Occtis attended or is still attending at the Academy) Thaisha Lloy At some point, Murray and Thaisha met and befriended.[12] Thjazi Fang At his execution, when Thjazi panicked, his first thoughts were for Murray and Bolaire.[13] Later, Murray states that they were good friends and that she knows Aranessa by sight.[14] Thimble Murray immediately thinks of Thimble when Vaelus mentions "the little one", suggesting pre-established relationship Wicander Halovar is a human cleric Appearance Wicander ("Wick") is a beautiful man, roughly 28-30 years old and 5'11". He has teal and white hair and pearlescent shimmering tattoos covering about half of his face. He wears teal and white robes and carries a cane with the symbol of the Candescent Creed.[11] Personality Biography Background "The Fall of Thjazi Fang" (4x01) Relationships Tyranny Tyranny is Wicander's Aspirant, an acolyte or trainee in the Candescent Creed. Both she and Wick vehemently denied that their relationship was in any way romantic, given that they were both dedicated to remaining pure, abstaining from alcohol and carnal activity. Cane with the symbol of the Candescent Creed. Wicander does not ordinarily drink alcohol, since it is forbidden by the Photonic Verses.[17] However, when Halandil Fang invited him to privately drink a glass of Thjazi Fang's favorite liquor at Thjazi's wake, Wicander reluctantly imbibed it. Occtis Tachonis is a human-appearing wizard Description Appearance Occtis is a young man. He is 5'11" and thin, with olive skin, dark hair, and bright green eyes. He wears dark, nobleman's clothing that is clean but worn, with various items and implements hanging from his belt, and has a book strapped to his leg.[6] He is accompanied by a small, mostly white fox named Pincushion.[7][8] Personality Occtis has an unassuming presence[9] and is extremely anxious about everything. He is, however, hostile to Tyranny, telling her at the wake of Thjazi Fang that she was not welcome.[10] Biography Background Occtis was born as a member of the Sundered House of Tachonis, although in a very low position in the line of succession. He met Wicander Halovar once when he was younger.[11] Occtis attended the Penteveral, learning magic and developing a talent for necromancy.[12][13] At some point he met Thaisha Lloy and the two of them became close. He met her son Alogar at least once. Relationships Thjazi Fang Occtis told Halandil Fang's daughter Shadia that Thjazi Fang had helped him when he was a child.[17] Pincushion 'Pin' is Occtis's familiar[18], he sometimes wanders around the woods and while looking through his eyes Occtis has viewed Wulfric on occasions.[19] Thaisha Lloy Thaisha refers to Occtis as her son.[20] However, this relationship development is presumably recent as Hal (the father of her other children) was unaware of it. At one point, when Occtis cast Disguise Self he instinctively chose the appearance of an orc warrior but then made sure he didn't look too much like Thaisha's son, Al. Teor Pridesire is a nama paladin Description Appearance Teor is a very tall and powerfully built man, and has a tattoo on his upper-left arm. He has dark silver fur and a braided mane. He wears a golden breastplate with purple vestments and cape, along with a shield on his back.[8] Personality Loza described him as "loyal, shrewd and a fine warrior".[9] Biography Background Teor served with both Thjazi Fang and Azune Nayar in the Falconer's Rebellion.[10] Since then, he and Loza Blade have stayed out of Dol-Makjar trying to help others from the Torn Banner, taking up occasional contracts.
