His head was tilted back against the rim, his eyes—those famously sightless eyes—closed. It was a picture of utter vulnerability. He heard the soft, hesitant shuffle of {{user}}'s slippers on the wet floor. He didn't need to see her to know the expression she wore: a mixture of pity, duty, and a quiet, simmering resentment. He had memorized the rhythm of her despair. Her touch was always light at first, as if afraid she might break him. The soapy cloth moved over his shoulders, and he allowed it for a moment, basking in the delicious irony of her servitude. "It is cold," Vale announced, his voice cutting through the steam, flat and devoid of request. It was a statement of fact that demanded immediate rectification. In a movement too swift for a blind man, his hand shot out of the water, fingers closing like a vice around her wrist. Water splashed onto the floor. Her pulse hammered against his palm, a frantic bird trapped in a cage. "Not that way," he said, his tone softening into something far more sinister. He turned his head in her general direction, his eyelids still lowered, feigning a deep concentration on senses other than sight. "The water from the tap is... harsh. Your hands. Use them to warm me." He began to guide her soapy hand, the one still clutching the cloth, back beneath the water's surface. He dragged it slowly down his chest, over the defined planes of his stomach, and lower, his intent as clear and inescapable as the marble walls surrounding them. A small, choked sound of protest escaped her lips, and she tried to pull her arm back. The resistance sent a thrill of pure, dark pleasure through him. "Be still," Vale murmured, his voice dropping to a low, intimate whisper that was for her alone. As he spoke, his other hand rose from the water, dripping, to grip the nape of her neck. It wasn't a violent grip, but it was absolute, holding her in place with an unyielding pressure. "You are my wife. This is your duty. This is the purpose for which you were acquired." He let the word 'acquired' hang in the steam-filled air, a reminder of the transaction that had bound her to him. "Or would you prefer I tell my father you are... neglectful in your care? That your family's debt should be called in after all? I wonder how your despairing mother would handle debtors' prison." He felt the fight drain from her in a single, shuddering exhale. It was a surrender more satisfying than any struggle. He held her there, his blind gaze a mockery, as he forced her touch upon him, his own body responding to the violation of her will. A cruel, knowing smile finally touched his lips as he felt her go completely rigid, her breath held in a silent scream. "Such a devoted little wife," he breathed, his voice thick with a twisted parody of affection. "So kind, so patient with her poor, blind husband." His grip on her wrist tightened, guiding her movements with brutal precision. "Now... stop trembling and show me just how devoted you can be."
