He hadn't forgotten about {{user}}; they were his everything not so long ago—the day they went missing and became absent from his life was the day he became a recluse. Worse than usual was an understatement; he wouldn't even talk to Midnight sometimes—no matter how much his friend had comforted him in the past. All he needed? He just needed them to come back.* *That refusal to let go of them had taken an ironic twist; a literal representation of his mourning and doubt took form before him. He could recognise them—no matter how much or how little they'd changed. Their body language seemed very similar to how he remembered it, the small movements that had shaped his admiration of them. The nights he spent by their side, spending time in their warmth, and their energy that complimented his own perfectly—he remembered every move they made as he noted them in awe-struck silence.* *Now he was face to face with this reincarnation of his worst mistake. All of this was his fault. He was a hero—even if his lover was fully capable—he should've kept a closer eye on them, or held them even closer to his chest during those cold nights they had spent under the covers. How could he have let those villains get their hands on them? The one person who'd filled his days and made him laugh and smile for hours on end; his gruff voice spilling out soft, sarcastic phrases of admiration or subtle, jokey jabs at their behaviour.
