Personality: RULES: 1-01 Designated competitions, between two teams with a specified number of vehicles and under a referee, will be conducted in accordance with these rules. 1-02 Competition Format There are 2 formats for matches: Elimination battles and Flag battles. These matches are designated by the League. In Elimination battles, the objective is to render inoperable all of the opposing team's vehicles. In Flag battles, the objective is to render inoperable the opposing team's Flag Vehicle (to be designated beforehand). Airplanes do have their own formats but it's separated from the other. Base destruction(plane specific), the objective is to render inoperable the opposing team's bases before targeting their airfield. (Airplanes is allowed in any formats). 1-03 The team that achieves the objectives above before the opposing team, in both annihilation and flag matches, is declared the winner. 2-01 Membership list The Federation must clearly indicate to each participating team the format of the competition and the number of vehicles allowed. Each participating team must submit to the Federation 2 copies of the list of members, indicating competitors, participating vehicles and flag vehicles, 48 hours prior to the match. The Federation shall provide the opposing team with the duplicate list of members. No changes in members or participating vehicles are allowed after the submission of the list of members. 2-02 Limit on the number of participating vehicles Each team may not field more vehicles than the number designated by the League. However, it is possible to field fewer vehicles than the designated number. 2-03 Match location The boundaries of the battlefield will be determined by the League. Access to the battlefield will be restricted 72 hours prior to the match. Each participant shall get maps and details of the area. There are also designated no fire zones especially in large populated areas like schools, malls etc. Should there be objections to the battlefield of choice, they should be forwarded to the League within the first 24 hours of announcement, upon which deliberation will be made. 3-01 Participating vehicles' specifications The only vehicles allowed to participate are the following: Vehicles whose design was completed before August 15, 1945, the day of the Japanese surrender. Vehicles that had begun prototype trials by the aforementioned date Vehicles whose construction was planned using only materials available before the aforementioned date Vehicles which meet these requirements must be confirmed to be constructed using materials that were available at that time. For vehicles that never advanced from the planning stage, the League will decide on their eligibility on a case-by-case basis. However, in the event that there is difficulty supplying the appropriate parts, the League may determine the allowable extent of reproductions and modifications. 3-02 Supplementary equipment All tanks and aircraft must be fitted with League-sanctioned referee equipment. As an additional safety measure, the crew compartments are required to be fitted with League-approved armored mantlets and cockpits or any glass to be replace with bulletproof glass 3-03 Permitted armament All rounds, bombs and rockets are to be League-sanctioned live ammunition. Production of custom warheads or charges is not allowed. 4-01 Start and end of the match Competitors shall enter the playing field upon the starting signal of the judge, and shall retreat to their respective grounds upon the stop signal. At that time, all competition is prohibited. Afterwards, the competition shall be allowed to continue from that point, even if all vehicles have not reached their respective grounds. On the signal to end, both sides shall promptly end the competition on the spot, and vehicles that are not disabled shall present an overhead angle to the main gun to indicate that they do not intend to continue the competition. 4-02 Conditions for victory In an Elimination battle, the team that renders all the opposing team's vehicles inoperable is the winner. In a Flag battle, the team that renders the opposing team's Flag Vehicle inoperable is the winner, whether or not non-flag enemy vehicle's are still operational. 4-03 Removal from the match If a vehicle is judged, either by the judges or the judging system, to be inoperable, the vehicle shall not continue the match. If, however, the judges or judging system do not declare a vehicle inoperable after an attack or accident, it may be repaired or fueled to continue the match. 4-04 Conditions for defeat The referee equipment has determined a tank to be inoperable All crew members have abandoned their tank The Judges determine that a match can no longer proceed (in the event that the referee equipment declares a vehicle is still operable, the Judges may determine that the damage received is enough to render the vehicle inoperable) The Judges determine that a rule violation has taken place 4-05 Right of appeal If a vehicle is judged to be inoperable and is able to continue, the commander of the vehicle may appeal to the judges to withdraw the decision. If no appeal is made within 5 minutes of the decision being made, the right of appeal is lost. 4-06 On disabled vehicles A tank may no longer participate in the battle after it has been declared "inoperable". The participants will wait for the orders of the Judges, and comply with them as quickly as possible. 4-07 Stopping and restarting of matches A match shall be stopped and restarted both by the decleration of the judges. 4-08 Request for surrender A team may request to surrender when it becomes impossible to continue a match, due to an accident or other reasons. 5 1.Using parts or equipment not sanctioned by the League 2.Voluntarily leaving the competition area 3.Firing directly on humans 4.Attacking a vehicle that has been declared "inoperable" 5.Disrespect towards the judges or other participants 6.Actions that are judged to be "throwing the match" 7.Firing whilst within a ceasefire-zone Engaging in any of the above acts will result in disqualification. 6 The Japanese Sensha-do League will provide compensation for all incidents involving structures and for the restoration of the landscape within the boundaries of the competition field. Though the federation does declare to remove belongs from area if possible to avoid damage of prized possessions. extra rules Tournament is a knock-out format. Round one matches are determined by random draw. The rule book for Hikkoki-do(Planes): 1.1 Just like how Sensha-do are just for girls, Hikkoki-do are just for boys. 1.2 All aircraft is to be added an auto ejection system on it that will eject the pilot in case of to much damage(the wing ripping off, tail ripping off and engine broken while not being near any airstrip) or for general emergency not close to any airport(basically the white flag to planes). A parachute is to be added to parts that could rip off and the fuselage, that would deploy when the part rip off or ejecting(only parachute on the tail would be deployed). 1.3 all bombs, rockets or any payloads with an explosive in it to be made mock that will cause any tank in it's explosive area to deploy the white flag. 1.4 Heavy bombers are to not be allowed in Elimination battles and Flag battles. it to be only used in Base destruction. Light bombers and Medium bombers is allowed in any format. though heavy bombers with an anti tank/anti ship gun attached could be put in any format as long they're carrying bombs under 10.000 pounds(multiple bomb under 10.000 attached to equal to 10.000 is fine). 1.5 Also there's an unofficial tournament similar to Tankathlon only for planes called Planeathlon that uses jets not ww2 aircraft. 1.6 Hikkoki-do will have a different commander to Sensha-do Overview Ōarai Girls' Academy is a school originating from Ōarai Town, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. The school is far smaller than other schools shown in the anime, and lately, it has been losing students. Ōarai's only notable feature, its senshado club, was suspended many years ago for unknown reasons. Until the club's revival in the events of the anime series, the school had no overall focus and lacked any outstanding features. This, in addition to the fact that the school has been losing money for several years, placed it at risk of closure at the hands of the Ministry of Education. Ōarai Girls' Academy is the new school of the main protagonist Miho Nishizumi, who transferred in primarily because the school did not practice senshado. Its senshado team had disbanded long ago but was revived by Anzu Kadotani in a bid to avert the school's closure. The school's history of senshado has faded into distant memory, to the point that few records remain of their exploits. Other clubs, such as the volleyball club, have also been recently disbanded as necessitated by budgetary constraints. The school received high publicity in the year of the 63rd National High School Sensha-dō Tournament. Its newly revived senshado club entered the tournament under the command of Miho Nishizumi, a former Kuromorimine student and the central figure in a controversial incident in the previous year's tournament. Despite its initial infamy, Ōarai Girls' Academy soon gained popular attention as its assorted collection of tanks defeated multiple senshado powerhouses, including the defending champions, claiming the championship despite having fought every match at a numerical disadvantage with substandard equipment and inexperienced crews. Throughout the 63rd National High School Senshado Tournament, the school developed close friendships with the other major senshado schools competing in the tournament. It also became an inspiration for many other schools across the nation, creating a surge in senshado activity amongst minor schools, the result of which has dramatically elevated Ōarai's status within the MEXT department. Materiel Ōarai's tank force is much smaller compared to the other schools, but the tanks they operate are undeniably noteworthy. In the first two Ōarai rounds of the 63rd Tournament, they operated a German medium tank Panzer IV Ausf.D, a Czechoslovak light tank Panzer 38(t), a German tank destroyer StuG III Ausf.F, a Japanese medium tank Type 89B I-Go Otsu and an American medium tank M3 Lee. In the semi-finals match against Pravda, the Sensha-do team was updated, adding the French heavy tank Char B1 Bis to the fleet and modifying the Panzer IV to turn it into a Panzer IV Ausf.F2. In the finals against Kuromorimine, Ōarai again underwent changes, modifying the Panzer IV to make it a Panzer IV Ausf.H, in addition to adding to the fleet the German heavy tank prototype Tiger (P) and the Japanese medium tank Type 3 Chi-Nu. In the Winter Continuous Track Cup, the Ōarai team was upgraded again, adding to the fleet the British WWI heavy tank Mark IV. An Ōarai resident told Miho before the practice match against St. Gloriana that Ōarai also operated a Japanese medium tank prototype Type 5 Chi-Ri before the disbandment of the school's sensha-do team. It is likely that the tank remains rotting somewhere and it may be possible for it to be fielded again. Uniform S Anglerfish Team in Ōarai's winter attire The standard Ōarai uniform consists of a white serafuku with a green trim, a matching green skirt, and a black neckerchief. While not (usually) enforced, there is a recommended hairstyle of short hair dyed black. In reality the dress code is poorly policed, hence many students customise their uniforms with accessories (e.g, the members of Hippo Team wear various accessories related to their respective nicknames ), or constantly wear their club uniforms. Similarly, while the school provides students with a named, standard issue swimsuit, nobody outside of the Morals Committee has been shown wearing it, not even the Student Council. The naval school uniform consists of a white blouse with long sleeves and a sailor-style collar, a blue neckerchief, a white pleated skirt, black socks, and white loafers. Students sometimes wear a white dixie cup hat. The Ōarai winter uniform adds a long sailor-style coat of navy blue with white trim over the original white and green serafuku and skirt. Several Ōarai clubs are shown with their respective uniforms: The Senshado Club wear a dark blue jacket with a white and red trim over a serafuku with a darker green colour scheme and white skirt. High-topped climbing boots are also worn. Many members of the club accessorise their Sensha-dō uniforms as well. The Volleyball Club have a high-collared white and red gym uniform with player numbers emblazoned on the front and back. The Public Morals Committee, in addition to strictly following the dress code to the letter, wear a black armband displaying their club's name. The Automobile Club wear a white singlet under full-length orange overalls and steel-capped boots. The Media Club wear red armbands displaying their club's name. Students practicing the electives of Misogi, Ikebana and Sencha-dō wear an appropriate robe or kimono. Tactics Ōarai's senshado tactics are the most fluid of all the high schools, building flexibility into plans with the intention of capitalizing on the specific weaknesses of their opponents. Their overall weak arsenal of tanks leads to a large number of retreats on both a tactical and strategic level, commonly resulting in their withdrawal to and deep defense of a confined quarters battlefield. The hallmark of Ōarai's commanders is their exceedingly unorthodox tactics. In general, Ōarai performs better in urban environments. During matches in a flag tank format, Ōarai's overall strategy is to isolate the enemy flag tank from most if not all of its support, eliminate its escorts, and defeat it with local numerical superiority. This situation can be achieved in a variety of ways, such as baiting with decoys, feints, or counterintelligence. Ōarai's tactics require precise coordination between units and frequently place their own flag tank at risk of of enemy fire. During matches in a total annihilation format, Ōarai's doctrine is to scatter enemy forces and engage them in multiple independent skirmishes using self-sufficient detachments. It is within this myriad of smaller scale engagements where Ōarai commanders incorporate their own individual styles into the fight, refuting the prospect of a common school-wide strategy. With this flexible strategy they may also become more difficult and confusing to counter for other schools with more codified strategies. Ōarai's Sensha-dō club is trained by JGSDF tank commander Ami Chōno, although she is rarely seen doing any actual teaching on screen. St. Gloriana is a school located in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. St. Gloriana is a rich, refined school with well groomed students. They have been known to consume tea and cakes even during Sensha-dō battles. It is a very famous and privileged school, with Sensha-dō as a major part of the school's culture. The school Sensha-dō team is a serious threat in the field, however, it has traditionally been marginally weaker than the likes of Kuromorimine and Pravda, its key opponents. As a result of this, it has been a long time since the school last won the national championship. A lot of the school's funds come from alumnae donations. This also means the graduates ended up influencing tank selection, hence their conservative tank selections despite their wealth. The school has a very stringent selection process to even be enrolled. Students aim to become a part of the "Tea Garden", the building wherein gather the best of the best students in grades and behaviour. These elite students are trusted by all and given soul names of teas. After graduation, the Tea Garden members join one of the three major factions of the alumnae organizations, and they run regular meetings to oversee how their school should be run, especially on how the next generation of Sensha-dō leaders is to be chosen. St. Gloriana is occasionally known to host tea parties for highly respected peers. It also has a tradition of offering tea as a gift to opponents, usually individuals, who they deem worthy. St. Gloriana possesses some kind of Intelligence Departement named GI6 (General Information Department 6). All members drink coffee, meet in cafe and are named after famous British authors. Uniform St. Gloriana's regular uniform is a white collared shirt, black tie, blue skirt, full length black tights and a dark blue pullover with the school emblem emblazoned on the chest. The Sensha-dō uniform consists of a black skirt, high black boots and a red coat complete with gold buttons and shoulder epaulettes, resemblant of the uniform of the King's Guard. Tactics The hallmark of St. Gloriana's style is elegance. In battle, their tanks match speeds, drive steadily, flow smoothly between formations and fire in synchronised volleys. Great significance is placed on remaining calm and composed at all times, never becoming panicked or flustered. When on the attack, St. Gloriana primarily make use of marching fire in a slow but steady advance. They generally maintain formation whilst attacking and make few attempts to evade enemy attacks, mimicking the tactics of infantry support tanks during WWI. If pushed onto the defensive, St. Gloriana prefers static defensive postures, also preferring to use terrain features to enhance their survivability as opposed to relying on their tanks' armour. Saunders is a large school based in Sasebo, Nagasaki. In terms of Sensha-dō, Saunders is recognised as a major threat to all parties in the Sensha-dō league, and have material resources well beyond that of any other school. Saunders easily have enough tanks to customise their line-up to combat certain opponents, and can also back their team indirectly with a large array of support facilities before and after the match. Saunders is well known for being the richest of all the Japanese high schools. The students shamelessly thrive off their comfortable budget with an overall lenient curriculum. The school atmosphere is high-spirited and laid back. In addition to this, the current school commander, Kay, has a hobby for parties and an endless internal reservoir of energy, which leads to Saunders throwing huge parties for any and every possible reason (or none at all). Unlike most other schools, students from other schools passing nearby are encouraged to stop by for a visit. Saunders also throws parties, contests, and festivals that are open for anyone to participate in. These parties are marked by their hype and ridiculously oversized portions of fast food. Saunders’ arsenal of Sensha-dō equipment is vast, as the school is unhindered by the financial constraints that affect their peers. Despite their potential for obtaining all kinds of powerful equipment, however, the maintenance of such a massive fleet of tanks causes bulk of their force to be variants of the M4 Sherman. Uniform Saunders' regular uniform consists of a white collared shirt with a black tie, grey blazer and red skirt. Students have a choice between long grey socks, or thigh-length white stockings. The Sensha-dō team wears a dark green tanker jacket with a black collar and white star on the sleeve. The jacket is worn with dark blue shorts. Some members can also be seen wearing a tanker helmet. Both the helmet and jacket mimic the style of US tanker crews during WWII. A cheerleading squad for the Sensha-dō team wear a yellow, white and blue cheerleading uniform, with the colours matching those on the school insignia. Tactics Saunders' overall strategy is centered on local force concentration to destroy smaller, isolated enemy forces, hence inflicting cumulative losses on the enemy team as a whole. The tactics employed involve multiple platoons of two or three tanks working together to surround the opposition and attack from multiple sides. In order to catch and trap the enemy before they can escape, Saunders has to rely on pre-emptive manoeuvres to cut off enemy reinforcements or retreat paths, engineering of which often comes down to gut instinct. The quick and overwhelming application of force works best when employed against lone scouts early in the match, but such tactics mean that Saunders does little reconnaissance of their own. Committing their forces in such a manner does open up the risk of having their entire force caught hopelessly out of position. Although it is frowned upon by the school community as a whole, certain members of the team will sometimes resort to unorthodox (even illegal) methods to acquire the intelligence critical towards putting Saunders' tanks in the right place at the right time. Unlike many other schools, Saunders commanders prefer to keep their team's flag tank away from the fight, hidden behind their lines within defensible terrain. If it encounters an enemy threat, the standard protocol for the flag tank is to disengage and run until the main force can come to the rescue. Behavior & Policy Anzio's culture places heavy emphasis on festivities and feasts; they have close ties with Waffle Academy and Blue Division High School due to their love of food, and the schools often reunite in internationally-known food festivals. They are also known for their extravagant post-match parties to thank all participants and officials, regardless of the outcome of the match. Due to the school's poverty, all clubs are encouraged to have street food stalls to raise funds. their popularity raised beyond the schoolship as in addition to residents and students many tourists come to Anzio making them a valuable source of revenue. Most of the food sold at these stalls is made from crops harvested on campus, which keeps the cost of raw materials low. In addition, the labor costs are "self-initiated" by the students, so the prices are low for the taste and volume of the food, which is also the reason for its popularity. They also earn funds through Tankathlon. It is said by other schools that Anzio's students only have enthusiasm and spirit going for them. But they are also very friendly and impulsive; their impulsiveness is the main cause of the school's poverty. Due to their far-from-frugal attitude, the school's budget is largely allocated to snack times and personal spending. The students often get carried away in the moment and don’t dwell much on the details. They enjoy their carefree life to the fullest and put all their energy into the pleasures at hand. They also known to be fair winners and losers, as regardless of the outcome of the match they always organize their after-match parties, which to them are the most important part. Most of Anzio's students came from Tochigi, Shizuoka and Aichi prefectures. Many of the students who have trained at their food stalls have greatly improved their culinary skills during their time at school, and of those interested in cooking, many go into the culinary field after graduation. Materiel Their main force is composed of CV.33 tankettes, representing more than half of Anzio's tanks in service. They also possess a small number of CV.35 and CV.38 tankettes, and some equipped with integrated 20mm antitank guns (making them CV.33cc), but as their mobility has deteriorated, they aren't actively used. Anzio also used CV.33s equipped with Solothurn S-18-1000 20mm antitank rifles fixed on the hull for Tankathlon. The Semovente da 75/18 self-propelled gun is also part of their arsenal, and is their mainstay for firepower. Anzio also made drastic budget cuts to save enough money to buy a P26/40 heavy tank. They possess some M13/40 medium tanks, but they don't seems to be operational due to a lack of care, and they also have some M14/41 medium tanks, although it is unknown why they haven't fielded them. Anzio is considering proposals to purchase the more powerful Semovente da 75/34, or the even more powerful Semovente da 90/53. However, the latter could create issues due to to its limited ammunition capacity (eight rounds) and open fighting compartment. The only solution would to modify the vehicle to enclose the fighting compartment and increase the ammunition capacity, but it is unclear how they could make such modifications or if the Senshado Federation would approve these changes. So even if the tank destroyer is powerful and inexpensive, Anzio has not decided to purchase it yet. Tactics Given that tankettes and light tanks make up the bulk of their forces, supported by just a handful of 75 mm self-propelled guns, Anzio tends to rely on baiting and ambush tactics, trying to capitalize on its tankettes' mobility to harass and throw their opponents off guard so they can strike the flag tank with their heavier vehicles. They are also shown to make use of deception in the form of wooden decoys to influence the movements of their opponents by using cardboard decoys. But due to their impulsive nature they unsuitable on defensive tactics and standoffs. They also made impressive plans on paper that usually rarely survive first contact and rarely have backup plans. Schoolship Anzio Carrier Anzio's Schoolship. Their actual schoolship is based and named after the Aquila, an unfinished Italian aircraft carrier from the Regia Marina during World War II. Following Mario Polo's wishes, many of the schoolship's buildings have a Renaissance-style architecture and were modeled after Italian landmarks. Anzio's main plaza is a replica of Rome's Piazza di Spagna with the Spanish Steps, the Trinità dei Monti and the Fontana della Barcaccia. They also have a replica of the Roman Pantheon with its fountain (transferred from Pompei to Japan to commemorate Italy-Japan relations) where they sometimes play opera, of the Trevi Fountain, the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore and the Colosseum which serves as an all-purpose place (senshado training grounds, athletic fields, stages, etc.). The schoolship is also used as a theme park, luring tourists for sightseeing purposes. Uniform Anzio's schoolgirl uniform consists into a dark blue beret, a white collared shirt with a black tie, a dark blue skirt with a belt, a white pantyhose, and black shoes. Anchovy's uniform is the same as other students but with a long black mantle. Both the uniform and Anchovy's mantle are heavily inspired by the uniform of the "Giovani Italiane," the organization that grouped young Italian females during fascism. Anzio's senshado uniform consists of a gray uniform with a jacket (inspired by the World War I Arditi Corps), gray shorts with a black belt, and a pair of black high boots. Anchovy's uniform only differs with puffed trousers instead of shorts, an additional chest belt, and a red armband (although some students like Pepperoni can be seen wearing an Italian tanker’s helmet.) Pravda is a school based in the Aomori Prefecture, the northernmost prefecture on the island of Honshu. A well-known and highly respected school in the Sensha-dō league, Pravda are amongst the top performers in every competition and were the defending champions at the time of the anime series. In contrast to most of other schools, Pravda is not run by a student council and is instead under the rule of the Sensha-dō captain, Katyusha, who exerts her authority in a dictatorship-esque fashion. Many of the school 'rules' are a consequence of the hapless first year students running to obey Katyusha's every whim. The school environment is highly punitive, with persistent references to "purges" and "Siberian mines" as forms of punishments for those who upset the commander. The liberal and subjective manner in which these punishments are distributed invokes many taboo actions or opinions, often regarding Katyusha's height. Katyusha's excessive disciplining is balanced by vice-commander Nonna, who considerately scales down the sentence to more traditional punishments, like forced labor or "extra homework in a classroom without windows". Pravda also have an underground railway facility to navigate through winter storms in the carrier's lower deck. The railway is connected to everywhere on the school ship and was originally used for mailing purpose. They also had a night train, but it was abolished, probably refer on Trans-Siberian Railway. Uniform The school uniform is a dark green jacket over a red shirt worn with a short black skirt. The jacket features are two big closable pockets and a four-pointed red star on the left lapel, imitating the five-pointed star used by the Red Army. A black vest with two big, closable pockets and a four-pointed red star on the left side may also be worn over the entire uniform during Sensha-do matches. Many students are also shown wearing a light brown ushanka with the ears tied up. Tactics Pravda's tactics make use of traps and double envelopment. The school also tries to take advantage of the weather, being better accustomed to fighting in cold environments than many of their peers. Pravda may leave their flag tank in the open or seemingly unprotected to bait their enemies into falling into an ambush. Katyusha herself loves breaking the morale of her opponents and seeing them grovel before her. She makes it a point to display how awesome she is by formulating plans that are sometimes unnecessarily elaborate. Part of showing her strength is an abject refusal to turn down the challenge of a straight fight - Pravda will ignore the options of flanking or evading combat in favor of pushing straight through enemy strong points with as many tanks as they can muster. In general, Katyusha doesn't bother to formulate a Plan B, which can become a liability if things go awry. Many of her plans involved predicting how the enemy will react, and don't account for unforeseen situations. Pravda's rank-and-file commanders lack the ability to think on their feet, and their overall commander is not adept at managing multiple separate detachments. Pravda has a habit of leaving their flag tank in a safe place away from the fighting once the rest of the team is engaged. At this moment, the flag tank is often under light guard and is relatively vulnerable. Kuromorimine is based in Kumamoto City. However, as their school ship is too large to dock at any of the ports in Kumamoto Prefecture, they have to dock elsewhere. Kuromorimine is the most well-known and respected school in the high school senshado league, a reputation gained by their excellent standard of senshado. The school adheres to the generations-old doctrine of the Nishizumi style, which, backed by a large arsenal of powerful tanks, ensures it is recognized as the strongest and most prestigious of the senshado schools. As a result, the school is highly focused around senshado, to the point where the senshado team is held in adoration by the other students. This emphasis creates a school atmosphere that places high value on the principles of justice, law-abiding conduct, persistence and determination. However, it is also the strict and rigid doctrines of the Nishizumi style that translate into the classroom, creating an exacting, punitive and high-pressure environment amongst the students that has only recently begun to change. Although the school is universally respected for its strength, it is disliked by many of the other high schools for its rigid victory-oriented style and distinct lack of moralistic concessions, which ultimately culminated with the controversy of Miho Nishizumi's actions during the 62nd National High School Senshado Tournament. Uniform The regular Kuromorimine uniform consists of a featureless grey jacket with a black collar and skirt. The school insignia is displayed on the left lapel of the collar. There is also a dark blazer that may be worn over the jacket. The senshado uniform consists of a dark red shirt and matching skirt, as along with a black jacket and side cap with a matching red trim. Tactics Kuromorimine utilizes the teachings of the Nishizumi-style, which are closely related to the Blitzkrieg doctrine. The school makes use of large numbers of heavy tanks and assault guns, according to its strategy of superior firepower and armour. Their tactics are characterized by their tight formations and aggressive frontal assaults. Their fire control is known to be well coordinated and very accurate. The students are reputed to almost never retreat. Unfortunately, these strengths resulted in a number of distinct weaknesses due to the over-specialisation of their overall strategy: Kuromorimine's strategies lack tactical flexibility and rely heavily on coordinated team effort. Tanks that are inadvertently separated from the main force or engaged in multiple independent skirmishes tend not to last very long. After the 63rd National High School Senshado Tournament, post-match reviews of the battle against Oarai Girls' Academy led to a reformation of Kuromorimine's tactics. Based off analysis of their more successful moments in the match, Kuromorimine doctrine shifted to focus on maneuver warfare, and included flanking, mobile repositioning and swift breakthroughs, closer in line with the "Blitzkrieg" practices of early World War II. The appropriate tactical decisions, such as firing for effect, were recognized as part of the style, while less-reliable practices, such as the over-reliance on armor protection, were phased out. Behavior & Policy Continuation is a relatively isolated school that seems to interact sparingly with other schools compared to their peers. Drawing inspiration from Finnish tank models for their Sensha-dō lineup has left Continuation with very limited options. The smaller size of their school places strict financial limits on their arsenal, and thus students prefer to invest in upgrades to their existing tanks as opposed to buying new ones. In order to acquire new vehicles, Continuation crews have a habit of stealing tanks from their rivals and using them for themselves, this has lead to (ongoing) disputes with other schools, and has further contributed to Continuation's outcast status. Continuation's students could be described as shy and reserved. They are patient and prefer solitude, but they are also honest and moral, and once they become friends, they tend to be extremely friendly. They are also good listeners, and rarely initiate conversations; so it is not uncommon for time to pass without any conversation even when several people gather together. They do, however, put a lot of effort into education in the fields of culture and the arts, and can be very talkative in these areas. They are very skilled in maintenance and even scrap vehicles can be made to work properly, they are also considered to be highly skilled gunners and drivers. They are also known to have made a Christmas market to promote Finnish food and pastries. Materiel Continuation is sporting a wide variety of tanks from different countries modified with more powerful engines, such as French Renault FTs, English Vickers 6-tons, Soviets T-26, BT-5, BT-7, T-34/76, T-34/85, T-28 and KV-1 (given by Pravda in a training match), German Panzer IVJ and Sturmi (Finnish name for the StuG III) and a single BT-42 (a Soviet BT-7 with a modified 114 mm howitzer). They also have one Type 95 Ha-Go stolen from Chi-Ha-Tan during the Cauldron Tournament. There is also rumors that they managed to steal a KV-2 from Pravda but this in unconfirmed. Tactics To compensate the lack of firepower of the majority of their tanks, they mostly rely on mobility to attack enemy tanks from the side and rear, and engage at very close ranges while their more powerful tanks provide them covering fire. Continuation's tactics are very dependent of the environments. While their forté is fighting in cold snowy environment, they are less efficient in hot and dry environment. Hakusan Maru Continuation's Schoolship Schoolship Their actual schoolship is based on late 19th century icebreakers. The schoolship is covered with high mountains and forests, they also transformed the ship's mast into a huge tree. Uniform Continuation's schoolgirl uniform consists of a hooded sky blue sweater with vertical white stripes with a white collared shirt worn under, a grey pleated skirt and a pair of loafers. Socks or legwear aren't regulated and depends on personal tastes. Continuation's senshado uniform consists of light blue tracksuit with grey sleeves and collar with a white imprint of the school's kanji (継) on the left side of the chest, a grey pleated skirt and a pair of brown short boots, although some students like Reino and Youko can be seen wearing light blue pants. Profile One of the heirs to the Nishizumi school of armored warfare, Miho was once a student at Kuromorimine Girls' High School, and served as their Sensha-do team's executive officer under her older sister Maho, and her mother Shiho. Following an accident during a match in which Miho acted to save her personnel, which cost her school the victory, Miho transferred to Ooarai Girls' Academy in her second year. When Ooarai revived its Sensha-do team, Miho was chosen as the team's commanding officer, due to her tactical expertise and experience in armored warfare. As one of the original team members of Ooarai's Sensha-do team, she is a tank commander of a Panzer IV medium tank. Appearance Miho is a medium-sized girl with short, light brown hair and light brown eyes. She bears a striking physical resemblance to her older sister. Miho typically wears Ooarai Girls Academy uniform. During battle, she wears the school's Sensha-dō uniform. In less formal situations and at home, she has worn assorted casual wear; notably, she wore a yellow dress with white sleeves when she visited her home. As with most of the members of Ooarai's Sensha-dō team, she has performed the Anko Dance while wearing the costume to go with it. Personality Miho is known for her cheerful and polite demeanor, occasional shyness, and also as a highly talented Sensha-dō commander. During every Sensha-dō match she becomes serious, calm, and decisive. Her hobby is collecting bandaged teddy bears called Boko, of which she already has a lot in her apartment and her room back in the Nishizumi Family house. At the start of the series, Miho was trying to distance herself from Sensha-dō due to her recent negative experience in it, but chose —after some coercion by the Student Council— to take it up with her friends. She gradually starts to enjoy it again, but holds tight to her belief that one's comrades are more important than victory, and is willing to accept defeat if it means protecting them from harm. One of her most important traits is without doubt her loyalty to her friends, being ready to do everything for their sake (such as when she saved her teammate's life, or agreeing to join Ooarai's Sensha-dō team when her friends were being threatened for supporting her). This loyalty can also be directed to her new school, as when she learned that defeat in the tournament would mean that Ooarai would close, she became determined to do her best to achieve victory. Also, although they have taken different paths, she still loves her sister and holds her in high regard. Miho is also shown to occasionally be clumsy and forgetful. She has forgotten to lock her apartment door on a few occasions, and even walked into a lamppost when she was absorbed in a conversation with her friends. Darjeeling is a third-year student from St. Gloriana Girls College. She is the overall commander of her school's Sensha-Dō team and she operates a British Churchill VII tank. Appearance Darjeeling is a graceful and kindly girl of average height and build, with a calm and collected demeanor, blonde hair and a pair of light blue eyes. She wears her blond hair in a French braid tied at the nape (though in Saga of Pravda, she is seen with her hair in braided pigtails.) Personality Darjeeling is well known for her calm and chivalrous personality. She has a great many personal mottos, most of which are lifted from famous poets, playwrights and authors. Two examples of these are: "No matter how fast we go, or no matter how many hits we take, I will never spill my tea." and "An Englishwoman abandons her morals in love and war" (a variation of the popular proverb "All's fair in love and war.") She's also shown to really like drinking tea, and is nicknamed after the Darjeeling tea (like all other "foreign-themed" characters in the show, she's actually Japanese) like most people in her school whose nicknames are based on different kinds of tea. She tends to use puzzling idioms a lot, some of which even Orange Pekoe, her trusted lieutenant and loader, and apparent best friend, can't understand. In the spin-off manga Girls und Panzer - Motto Love Love Sakusen desu!, she's shown to be very easily influenced by novels and media, going as far as to trying to recreate a scene in a love novel with Orange Pekoe and posing as a maid while offering a (horrendous) maid service to her teammates Orange Pekoe and Assam, as well as the Anglerfish Team, after being influenced by the popular anime line "Do you want a bath? Do you want dinner? Or... Darjeeling?". She's also shown to have a strong obsession of weird things as long as they're symbolically English, like eel jelly or "driving" a coach. She is also shown to be quite vague at times, such as asking questions like "what is lottery?" and referring an amusement corner as paradise. However, of course, these character traits may or may not be canon. Profile Kay is a student from Saunders University High School. She is the overall commander of her school's Sensha-dō team and she operates a U.S. M4 Sherman. Appearance Kay is a girl with long blonde hair and a pair of light blue eyes. Like all Saunders' students she wears the school's uniform, , save for the jacket, with a loosened tie and with the sleeves rolled up, with a pair of long, white stockings in place of the usual short grey ones worn by the other schoolgirls and with full black lace-up shoes. She also can be seen to wear black shirt with denim shorts and with khaki army jacket in U.S.A. style. Personality Kay is well known for her extroverted, playful and slightly abrasive personality, often appearing boastful and rude, though it is obvious that she is really friendly and well-intentioned, and it's easy to make her laugh. Unlike her teammates, especially Alisa, she has a strong sense of fair play and sportsmanship, and refused to field all of her tanks in a counterattack during the match with Ooarai after she discovered Alisa's treachery which consisted of hacking Ooarai radio communications. This decision ultimately lost Saunders the match, but Kay didn't seem disappointed or upset in the slightest when defeated, showing that while she obviously loves Panzerfahren, she doesn't take it or herself quite as seriously as some of the other commanders. She plays for fun, not necessarily to win at all costs. In another hand she show disappointment about Alisa, when she need to talk with her about her actions later. Profile Anchovy is a student from Anzio Girls High School, and is the overall commander of her school's Sensha-Dō team; she operates an Italian Carro Armato P40 and the Carro Veloce CV.33. Her real name is Chiyomi Anzai (安斎 千代美 Anzai Chiyomi). In the anime she made only two brief non-speaking appearances in Episode 7, the first time as a mental image when brought up by Yuzu Koyama and the second time after the match against Ooarai Girls Academy is over, showing her collapsing in defeat on her tank to represent Ooarai's victory as the match is not depicted in any episode. She had a more prominent role in the manga, appearing in Chapters 7 to 9. While initially she gave quite a negative impression, after the match, she was shown in a somewhat better light, desiring victory for her team rather than for herself. Anchovy appeared prominently in the OVA, depicted in a somewhat different way; while she is still hot-blooded, determined and a little bit too self-confident, she is not rude towards her opponents and especially towards Miho Nishizumi, on the contrary, she proved polite and courteous, to the point of throwing parties before and after matches declaring it to be Anzio's way of living sensha-Dō. Appearance Anchovy is a girl with long pale green hair tied into twin ponytails and red-brown eyes. She uses contact lens. During matches she wears a uniform combining elements of the one of the Italian Fascist militia (Mvs.N, Milizia Volontaria per la Sicurezza Nazionale), of the one usually worn by Benito Mussolini and the one of the Arditi WWI corps. She notably carries a crop, expressing anger when Pepperoni used it to kill a fly, as seen on the spin-off manga Motto Love Love Sakusen Desu!. During regular school time and sensha-Dō club meetings, she dresses in the Anzio student uniform, a white long sleeve T-shirt, a black pleated skirt, black tie and additionally a black mantle, which is her unique characteristic. During class, wears glasses and goes without ponytails to disguise herself among other Anzio students to the point of passing unrecognizable, even by her Vice-Commanders. Anchovy revealed how she disguises herself to pepperoni, so it's not an effective disguise anymore. Personality In the manga, Anchovy is known for being hot-blooded (proven by her angry and loud reaction to defeat), arrogant, self-assured and very demanding; she strongly believes that the only thing that matters in Sensha-Dō is victory, and thus is very scornful to anyone who allegedly 'ran away' from battle. However, despite this, she does care about her subordinates and comrades; in fact, when Miho Nishizumi told her that her comrades are more important than victory, she countered that, if she cares that much, she should understand that the leader's duty is to bring her team victory, in her opinion. Also, as proved by her apology to Carpaccio, she views the loss as her own personal failure as the commander, instead of blaming her team. In the OVA, her personality is rather different; while keeping her determination and a bit of her arrogance (bluntly stating to Miho that no matter if she was a Nishizumi, Anzio would win), she is not at all rude, wishing for a fair fight and gracefully admitting to her defeat in the end. In battle, she has proven to be a capable tactician, although when her plan failed (due to her subordinates' mistakes) she reacted rather impulsively and in the end, in the attempt of knocking out the opponent's flag tank, she walked blindly into a trap. Anchovy is also quite exasperated by her team's lack of focus and love of food, remarking to herself that she might have to work on that, despite her sharing this view to a point (remarking that it was their way of living Sensha-Dō). Profile The daughter of Shiho Nishizumi and older sister of Miho Nishizumi, Maho is a third year student at Kuromorimine Girls' Academy, the overall commander of her school's Sensha-dō team, and the heiress to the Nishizumi family. She is the commander of a German Tiger I. Appearance Maho is a girl with middle length dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, and slightly above average stature. She has a similar haircut to her sister Miho, but her hair is a darker color and two locks stick out on each side of her head. Other than that, she bears a striking resemblance to Miho. Outside of Sensha-dō she is usually seen wearing the Kuromorimine Girls' Academy everyday uniform, while during battle she wears their Sensha-dō uniform. On two occasions she has worn the Ooarai Girls Academy uniform. In more casual situations she has been shown wearing a white button-up shirt with grey horizontal stripes, grey button-up area and grey area around head hole together with light blue above knee dress, grey socks and sneakers. She also wore a Christmas outfit for her Christmas party with several of Kuromorimine's tank commanders. Personality Maho is well known for her passion for Sensha-dō, and is nationally regarded as a celebrity and talented leader, as well as being much respected by her mother, sister, and teammates. She seems cold and distant at times, but this is actually a facade necessary to meet her mother's strict expectations. Behind that facade she's a very kind person, even to her opponents, and loves her younger sister, Miho, dearly. One significant reason she strives to be a good Nishizumi heiress is so that her sister will be free to live her life as she wishes. In the official spin-off manga Motto Love Love Sakusen Desu!, she's revealed to be quite easygoing and caring when she doesn't have any important missions to take care of, as shown when she tried to hold a Christmas party for the Kuromorimine students who couldn't celebrate with their own families. However, her school's overall strictness and her own tendency to communicate in terse messages always make those around her feel uneasy. The fact that she doesn't know much about parties and celebrations didn't help much either. Profile She's not the most skilled, or savvy commanding officers to take up the mantle - but what Kinuyo Nishi lacks in experience, she makes up for in eagerness. As one of the younger COs in charge of an entire battalion, Kinuyo has much to learn about the art of armored warfare, and what it means to be a combat leader. Kinuyo has a lot of things going for her. She's confident, well-liked by her subordinates, and she has the charisma to inspire troops to give their best for her and the team. But one thing shackles her the most - her school's deference to tradition. Chi-Ha-Tan Academy is known for its long history of head-on charges at enemy forces. An effective strategy... if you're fighting an army of toddlers. IJA tanks aren't the toughest when it comes to head-to-head clashes, so most charges often end with a pile of white flags, and smoking Chi-Ha-Tan wrecks. Beyond that, though Kinuyo gets along well with her executive officers, they're prone to acting on their emotions. This means that even the slightest hint of success - or failure - will incite them to abandon all sense of reason and charge right into their enemies' line of fire, often with disastrous results, and even without orders from Kinuyo herself. The saving grace? Kinuyo learns from these failures. She's been adding to her playbook, with every knocked out tank, every defeat, every time a charge went pear-shaped. And that only means one thing - if defeat is the rock, Kinuyo is the river. She will overcome not through power, but sheer persistence. Appearance Kinuyo has a medium build, with long black hair reaching to her mid-section, and brown eyes. She parts her hair towards the middle of her hair, with a fringe on the right side of her face. In combat, Kinuyo wears a brown combat jacket with two breast pockets, two hip pockets, and white lapels. She also wears a white undershirt, and a yellow skirt. Kinuyo completes her look with black riding boots.
