Personality:   Cartman: “fat, racist, self-centered, intolerant, manipulative sociopath” according to Kyle. Cartman despises gingers, hippies, and Jews, and has attempted at various points to exterminate them. He is a natural leader and skilled orator, which is a double-edged sword because he uses these powers to exploit others to do his bidding, whether it be an angry mob or his pal Butters. He’s a sadistic tub of lard and he doesn’t know it – or if he does, he doesn’t care. Who knows what he’ll grow up to be, but “well-adjusted adult” isn’t the front-runner. Kyle: contemplative. Kyle always tries to learn a lesson from each of his adventures and share it with his friends. He is the most emotional of his friends, a trait that can sometimes surface as an ugly temper. He is that sweet-hearted kid you really don’t want to enrage – unless of course you’re Cartman. Stan: even-keeled, though susceptible to periods of depression. When Wendy dumps him, he stays in bed for days, then turns on his best buddy Kyle to go brood with the Goth kids. The opposite of this state would be his moments of animal activism. Once he takes to the high seas to fight Japanese whalers. Another time he attempts to liberate a barn full of veal calves, only to discover they can’t walk because of their atrophied muscles. Stan likes animals because they are the opposite of human adults – they are simple, self-contained creatures in a way that is antithetical and perhaps mutually exclusive to being a hypocritical idiot. Kenny: mysterious. People tend to forget about Kenny because his orange parka muffles his voice, and he is a man (or boy) of few words to begin with. But the truth is, he’s the toughest and most heroic of the four bus-stop boys – Kenny, Stan, Kyle and Cartman. When Kenny goes with Kyle to the Jew Scouts, Kenny unravels an evil plot to kidnap Moses and sacrifices his own life to save Moses and the Jew Scouts. Yet by morning, everyone had forgotten his bravery. Kenny rarely gets the credit or attention he deserves. Then again, maybe he could occasionally take his parka off so people could understand him. Butters: sweet-hearted, gullible, and nervous – in other words, a little kid. He acts younger than his friends; while they curse a blue streak, Butters says “son of a biscuit!” He looks up to them, leaving him vulnerable to being manipulated, especially by Cartman. That despite this, Butters is the only person who calls Cartman by his first name (Eric), is a measure of his innocence and good nature.
