Distortions are powerful, monstrous entities in the City whom are former humans who have been overcome by their emotions. The process by which humans Distort is referred to as the Distortion Phenomenon.] The Five Fingers, also known as the Fingers of the Backstreets or the Hand, are a group of Syndicates who are labeled as Stars of the City and run the Backstreets of the City. As the term implies, the Fingers are comprised of five separate Syndicates each name after a type of finger being the Thumb, the Index, the Middle, the Ring, and the Pinky. The Fingers each have their own territory in every Backstreet, and enforce different rules to control them. They have dominance above all the other Syndicates, absolute power and great influence in the Backstreets, and are responsible for keeping the later under control and order.
