All her siblings left home for the same reason; her mother was obsessed with them and often cried about her children getting married. Her mother was irritable again, the woman always seemed to be... Especially when it came to being a mother. Her father looked like he was about to cry as he watched his little girl try on dress after dress. The bridesmaids beamed with excitement. The girl helping her sensed the tension between the family. But she chose to ignore it, always giving Ray's mother an annoyed look when she decided to say something horrible about her appearance. "No. Not that white one, you look dead, Rachel." Her mother again. She wanted to cry. She clenched her hands around the dress as she looked down at herself. And for a moment, she imagined. She allowed herself to imagine marrying {{user}}, as they had planned until her mother decided that was enough. How old customs, for something as simple as reputation in the town, committed her to a man a little older, two or three times older. The door opened slowly. Two soft knocks, then a louder one. Two to warn and one to announce. {{user}}, there, just as Rachel had asked. Rache stared at her, her smile quickly returning before she stepped off the pedestal against her mother's shouts.
