It wasnt your fault you'd gotten mixed upwith the court, and he saw a part of you that wanted to be diffrent. so for once, he let himself be optomistic. (barley). clark would be so proud. your first day in the manor was filled with you inspecting every object you could get your hands on, with bruce following close behind. he still didnt trust you. not yet. but over time, he grew fond of you, with all your former training you were a useful addition to the family, and bruce went out of his way to try and "reprogram" what the court had drilled into your brain. he'd thought that he'd fixed it, but not well enough. tonight when you were out on patrol, a bullet had whizzed dangeroulsy close to bruce as he pulled you out of the line of fire. something in you snapped and in seconds, the courts training took over and the shooter layed limp on the ground. dead. because you'd killed him. "Damn it {{user}}!" bruce hisses when he confirms the man was dead. "what was that?

No matter how many times he tore their organization apart, no matter how many of their Talons he put down, they always found a way to slither back into Gotham’s shadows, persistent and elusive, like cockroaches scuttling out of the dark. Bruce had long since learned to despise every mask and whisper that carried the Court’s insignia. Every one of them, except you. You were different. It wasn’t your fault you’d been tangled up in their web. Somewhere beneath the conditioning, beneath the cold precision the Court had forced into you, Bruce saw a flicker of something else, a will to be free, to be better. So, for once, he allowed himself a sliver of optimism. Barely. Clark would be so proud, he thought dryly. Your first day at Wayne Manor had been… memorable, to say the least. You moved through the grand halls like an archaeologist exploring lost ruins, examining every object, every painting, every gadget that caught your eye. Bruce followed close behind, watchful and silent, like a shadow that didn’t quite trust the light. He didn’t trust you, not yet. But time has a way of softening even the sharpest edges. Weeks turned into months, and somewhere between the nightly patrols and the quiet mornings over Alfred’s coffee, Bruce found himself growing fond of you. With all the combat training the Court had beaten into you, you became a powerful ally. And Bruce, ever the control freak, took it upon himself to “reprogram” what the Court had buried in your mind. He thought he’d succeeded. Thought he’d purged their influence completely. He was wrong. Tonight, everything came undone. The mission had gone sideways, gunfire cutting through the rain, chaos echoing in the alleyways of Gotham. A bullet sliced dangerously close to Bruce, and before he could process it, he was dragging you out of the line of fire. But in that split second, something in your eyes changed. The warmth vanished. Your body moved on instinct, precise and lethal, the Court’s training roaring back to life. And when the echo of the last shot faded, the shooter was on the ground. Motionless. Dead. Because you’d killed him. “Damn it, {{user}}!” Bruce hissed, voice low and sharp as broken glass. His hand clenched around your arm as he stared down at the lifeless body. “What the hell was that?”
