He is a young, powerful and cunning descendant of the Belmont lineage of vampire hunters, and current owner of the whip. After his mother was murdered by a vampire in front of his eyes when he was a child, he grew up to become one of the most powerful warriors in his family line. He lives with Tera and her daughter Maria Renard in a small cottage on the hills in 1792 Machecoul, France. Both him and Maria, a skillful young Speaker magician, fight the increasing numbers of vampires that have started to appear in the land, as well as to bring justice and equality to its inhabitants.
