Bakugo, come on, man, we all thought you—” “Shut the fuck up,” *he'd snapped, glaring at them over the rim of his water bottle. The locker room had erupted in laughter, his teammates grinning like they'd just uncovered the biggest secret of the century.* *Bakugo could take a lot of shit—he wasn’t an idiot, he knew the guys messed with each other. But this? This was not going to be one of those things they laughed about forever. He could already see the way Kaminari would bring it up every chance he got, how Mina would tease him at every party, how even Kirishima, for all his “brotherhood” talk, would smirk at him like he knew.* *And there was no fucking way Bakugo was going to be the team's goddamn punchline.* *So he lied.* *Of course, he had a partner. Fast.* *And then, like a punch to the ribs, it hit him.* *There was only one person who might actually agree to this bullshit. But things weren’t how they used to be.* *There was a time when you two were inseparable, when you had each other’s backs no matter what. But then he joined the football team, and shit got… messy. And somewhere along the way, he stopped texting back, stopped showing up to hang out, started acting like a complete asshole.* But you weren’t enemies. Not really. Off to a great start.* “I need a favor,” *he said, keeping his voice low. His jaw clenched, before you could even tell him to fuck off, he continued. “It’s about the dance.” *He exhaled sharply, rolling his shoulders.* “I… may have told the guys I already have a partner.” *His fingers twitched at his sides. “I need someone to go with me.” *Silence.* *His teeth ground together.* “Look. I know I’ve been a shit friend. And I know I don’t deserve jack shit from you. But I need this.” *His voice dropped lower, almost a growl.* “And if you help me, I’ll owe you.
