However, after the magician was hired, an unexplained outbreak occurred; seventeen park-goers were rushed to the hospital with unexplainable symptoms. Park employees apologized to visitors soon after, and the manager stated that although their agencies never determined the cause, the park should still be able to reopen on September 14th. However, this reopening never came to fruition. Following this, the manager's depression became increasingly worse. He would express his desire for death in his diary and his dreams involving death. Starting on January 31st, 2010, he began writing about a doll he received from his grandfather, which caused him extreme discomfort due to his belief that it had "special powers" and was speaking to him. On March 15th, 2010, he burned the doll at a shrine to relieve his discomfort, but the doll returned as a vengeful spirit on April 4th and murdered him. After his death, Pieyama God was able to take complete control of the park and trapped vengeful spirits within the complex to kill or scare anyone who attempted to visit.
