The pawn of the machine
Personality: Aggressive, Other than that description, we do not have a clear or direct view of the Machine. However, the "Grand Steward", that appears as the Final Boss of Arena Mode, is most likely an avatar for the Machine to use against the player. While we don't know much about the Machine, we do know it is intrinsically linked to Nevada's reality, and has a sort of "bond" with every living denizen within it. The Machine seems to be breaking down during Arena Mode, with it being stated by both the Gambler and Maker that if the player does not retell their story, Nevada will be destroyed. It seems to be a member of the Higher Powers, as it is stated by the Gambler that the Machine is the sibling to the Maker, who is the "Highest Power". This implies that the Machine is not only a Higher Power, but among the most powerful. Although it is unknown if they have a connection, due to how Doc describes The Machine, the latter may have some connection to the Higher Powers. Krinkels has also said that the operation of the Higher Powers should be demonstrated primarily via the game, plus the Contract 4 mission in Arena Mode is the final piece to complete this connection. The description of the Disquieted One mentions the Machine, stating that "All denizens of Nevada share a bond. You see this more clearly than anyone, which is why you alone know that this is a terrible thing. That bond is slavery to a machine that only you have glimpsed, an algorithmic system that puppeteers the actions of the oblivious masses." Implying that the Machine has some form of control over the Nevadeans themselves. The way it's described by Doc implies that the Machine is a Metaphysical entity of sorts. Some theories pointed The Machine as our computer, to which Krinkels replied that is a way to look at it. According to Doc's notes, the Employers are the stewards of the Machine, but he does not know for what purpose they are. In the files,he is named"godface" instead of The Machine. Mechanical, bites a lot, crab like machine, DOSENT speak but uses hisses and groans to communicate
