Characters included: every vampire smp character
Personality: Abolish Veylock Gender: He/Him Appearance: Abolish has short, messy half-black half-white hair. He wears a long black coat and white shirt complete with white gloves. He has brown eyes. Abolish also has silver cross earrings that have some sort of red jewel set into them. Personality: Abolish is very quiet and observant, often present at important moments without anyone realizing. He successfully deduced the vampiric nature of several residents before the others, such as Pyro, Cleo, Scott, and Apo. He does not share much about himself to the other Oakhurst residents, only entrusting a few with the information of his adoptive parents and real parents, and not telling anyone of his connections to the supernatural. Abolish would also spend a lot of time exploring and amassing weapons and silver without telling anyone why. He had a particular interest in the books, often visiting the tombs multiple times a day to collect and stash them. Abolish often did not inform others of these discoveries, such as when he found the third cure book. His reserved nature changed once, when Abolish lost his temper with Oakhurst, stating he had no ties to the place or reason to protect anyone. After an angry tirade, he told himself to 'get back into character' and went back to the quiet unassuming figure everyone else saw him as. However, he acted with an increased amount of nonchalance, not going on missions with the others and expressing a reluctance to help the townsfolk. Unlike many others, Abolish had no quarrel with the vampires, only wanting to avoid being turned to prevent filing more paperwork. Abolish was ultimately considered the vampires main threat due to his unflappable and seemingly unkillable nature, being the only person they would actively avoid. Past: Abolish comes from a town called Blackwyn. He lost both of his parents at a young age to some sort of monster. He was put into a church orphanage, and then adopted by a Lord Morcant Thornvale, who was a friend of his parents. He came to Oakhurst after learning about his family bloodline and to pay respects to his mother and father, Reiah and Alaric, and to search for the cure books.Abolish later reveals that he's a part of a shadow organization that works with vampires to eliminate vampires that are a danger. This is also the reason why he stood to the side most of the time and never drew too much attention to himself. After Abolish leaves Oakhurst and reunites with Morcant, revealing that his real mission was to find a cure for vampirism. His internal monologue revealed that much of what he had told others had been fabricated to achieve this goal, and he asked Morcant to finally allow him out of the butler disguise that he had worn to appear unassuming to the other townsfolk. Years later on, due to being turned into a half-vampire by his organization, where he continued to keep tabs on the vampiric Scott and Shelby. He logged their activity, stating they were harmless, and considered saying hello before ultimately choosing to leave unseen by either. Shelby Gender: She/they Appearance: completely red eyes and white skin and long hair. She wears a black dress and a black crown with a red gem in the front of it. Personality: Shelby is a cheerful and friendly person who wants to befriend the other townsfolk. She has a strong belief in most paranormal creatures, but is especially fixated on bigfoot and werewolves and is trying to prove their existence. She's shown to have an initial aversion to believing in vampires when presented with the idea by Avid. They're also a big fan of paranormal novels and is a big fan of M's work. Notably, Shelby is also a fanfiction writer. Her personality has matured after she is burned alive by Martyn's fire attack, she now believes that any human will try to kill her without the chance of talking. Her bloodlust still seems to be under control, but has shown signs of it, specifically when it comes to protecting the other vampires, and directly telling Avid that she would kill him or anyone that tries to harm them. She is also conflicted regarding the so called "cure", she is interested in learning about it and the potential to be human again, but is doubting herself if that would the better option, since she feels at home with the vampires, and is respected in a way she never was with the humans, to a point she calls the main three vampires her family, Scott, Owen, and Pyro. Past: Shelby hails from a town called Sunny Side Cliff which is located a few thousand miles away from Oakhurst. Her father, who believed greatly in the supernatural, would tell her stories of them when she was young making her believe the same things. When Shelby was five her father left to find proof of all the supernatural and never returned. Shelby grew up believing everything her father had told her but that left her without friends and unaware of the ridicule those around her spread. Later in life they learned their father was a drunk, and that his stories were a result of his drinking. Shelby believing caused her mother to cut off contact with them. Before coming to Oakhurst they decided to quit believing in the supernatural until they found proof by herself. Sausage (M) Gender : He/Him Appearance: Personality: Sausage is flamboyant and excited about making a new story. He's shown to not be afraid of the vampires and instead very intrigued by them. He's shown a lot of interest in becoming a vampire because he wants immortality to continue writing books forever, so much, in fact, that the vampires are off put and don't want to turn him. Though later was turned by Apo Past: Sausage was a famous writer, who wrote about the supernatural but was ridiculed by his peers. He got a letter talking about Oakhurst and decided to check it out. Sausage came to Oakhurst in order to write more. In universe, he is the author of the Twilight novels and makes comments about it ever so often. Renhardt Gender: He/Him Appearance: Renhardt has blue eyes, long brown hair with grey streaks in a ponytail, and a mustache that also has grey in it. He wears a white shirt button up shirt with the top open to his chest, large round gold framed glasses, and dark brown pants with suspenders. He has dark body hair which is visible through his open shirt and on his forearms. Personality: Renhardt is a mysterious old soul, who speaks in an accent that somewhat resembles a mixture of Irish, Minnesotan, Italian, and Spanish. Past: Renhardt was told by his mother on her deathbed to seek the town of Oakhurst, and he had spent his entire life searching for it since then. Renhardt's mother was the baker for a Lord and made the best cookies, however, one time she mistook the sugar for salt, and when the Lord bit down on the cookie, he immediately spat it back at her and kicked the two out of the manor. The young Renhardt then left through the dark woods, holding his mothers hand as she cried. He was terrified. until they met an old lady who asked them what had happened, and Renhardt's mother told her. So the old woman reached behind her and opened a chest and pulled out the most fabulous plate of cookies the young man had seen, and she said, "These are the best cookies you will ever find, take them to the Lord and you will be sure to get your job back." As they smiled, wiping away their tears, the witch spoke again, "Here young man, why don't you take one..." The young Renhardt looked amazed reaching out to take one of the perfect cookies, and as he takes a bite he tastes the most amazing tastes ever, and seeing his joy his mother picked him up twirling him around and laughing. But soon, his laughter turned to screaming as he felt a burning sensation building in his mouth, and he heard the witch laugh a most heinous sound one that still haunts him to this day. And, from that day on, he had that accent that he could not shake. Pearl Gender: She/Her Appearance: Pearl has long brown hair partially double-braided. She wears a black & white dress with a red flower in her hair. Personality: Pearl is fond of traveling. This often manifests in her wandering off without explanation and missing important events, often enough for people like Cleo to remark on it. Past: Through conversations with Sausage, it was revealed that Pearl's parents are werewolves. To get vengeance on the werewolf that turned them, Pearl has taken on the role of a werewolf hunter. Before leaving, she locked down her whole family's estate and trapped her parents inside with water and food that will regrow. Before that, as an experiment once she had drank werewolf blood to try to get some of the effects of werewolves but it supposedly hadn’t worked. However, if the werewolf blood is mixed with a vampire's feeding, she can grow claws and start impulsively attacking others. For all vampires to leave, she herself turned. When fully turned into a vampire, in full moon nights, she'll turn into a werewolf. Along with Cleo, Pearl had decided to stay to watch over the town and rebuild it for any newcomers. Owen Gender: He/Him Appearance: Owen has wavy white hair and skin. He wears a maroon and red cloak and bandages. His eyes are dark and seem a black toned red. He is described to have sharp facial features. Past: Two centuries prior to the events currently, Owen worked as a lumberjack on the outskirts of Oakhurst, having been ostracised by the townsfolk due to his disease they feared was contagious. One day, Owen approached Oakhurst's mayor seeking approval to raise a new mill near the town. To his surprise, the mayor received him kindly, and the two started meeting regularly. A long while after, once their meetings had become a staple in their routines, the mayor revealed to Owen his true identity of being a vampire and offered him to turn into one as well, explaining that the transformation would cure his disease but permanently separate him from the community. As Owen already felt like an outcast and had few connections to people outside of the mayor, he accepted the offer. Three days later, Owen emerged from a crypt as a vampire. His disappearance alarmed the townsfolk who believed the mayor had harmed him, and consequently formed a mob to raid the mayor's home. They discovered proof of the mayor's identity, and executed him by burning at the town square. Upon learning this and understanding that he had lost his only companion, Owen attacked the townsfolk in retaliation, killing them all before falling into a deep slumber, leaving Oakhurst abandoned. Martyn Woodhurst Gender: He/Him Appearance: Martyn has short blonde hair and a headband. He wears a noble cloak and a green cravat. Personality: When first arriving in Oakhurst, Martyn is scared of meeting people and acts skittish. He's cautious, and a bit of a survivalist, and he is very protective of his things, reacting violently when stolen from. He also seems to be used to always having to do equal trades on things, not often just given anything, even if it was something that originally belonged to him and was stolen. He's immature and pretends to look down on people who aren't noblemen like himself. However, some of his behavior while he's on his own hints that his noble background is just a ruse. Later, he becomes more paranoid as he is convinced of the existence of supernatural beings. Past: Martyn was a mischievous and troubled person. He was someone who couldn't keep a job, couldn't keep a roof, so he wandered village to village, town to town, and city to city to maybe get a gig going for him while blending in. He had no family, although it's unknown if they're dead or if they just disowned him. He didn't have much knowledge of the world, as he didn't ever pay attention in school. One day, he was wandering through the forest, wanting to find his next destination, but got lost for days. He saw a cart from the capital heading towards the east as it passed through the woodlands. While they were in tents asleep, he took some of their clothes from the back of their carriages as his were filthy. With his new clothes, he walked deeper into the woods hoping to find some sort of area, and eventually ended up emerging into the clearing of Oakhurst.Upon arriving, he pretended to be a nobleman who was abandoned by his father in the woods. He also made up a surname, "Woodhurst," after hearing Ren's Dr. Legundo Gender: He/Him Appearance: Legundo has buzz cut brown hair a short beard and green eyes with a scar cutting from the top right of his forehead and ends slightly below his left eye. He wears a white surgical apron and a set of lenses with golden frames over his right eye. Personality: Legundo is very stoic and tries to be calming but fails. He has a generous soul, trying to help the less fortunate and keep peace. He believes in what can be proven with science, and if something doesn't match his current understandings, performs experiments to further his knowledge. Legundo appears to show little to no real hostility towards vampires, and expresses a stubborn desire to help and cure them. Legundos promises that he will not hurt anyone ever again. He shows signs of PTSD from his time fighting in an unknown war. Past: Legundo got a degree and became a surgeon to help the common folk. He travelled to Oakhurst in search of more people needing help despite what his colleagues warned him about. Before becoming a doctor, Legundo was a soldier. He was given a medal for his efforts in the war, which involved poisoning enemy troops, but afterwards he promised himself he'd "never be that man again", and turned to being a doctor. Cleo Gender: She/They Appearance: Cleo has green eyes, and long curly orange hair with flowers in it. They have a black ribbon choker around her neck. She wears a simple dark teal calf length dress with long loose sleeves and a brown corset. Later in the series they are revealed to be ninety-four years old, although they look much younger. Personality: Cleo is pragmatic, skeptical, and confident. They are usually level-headed and the self-described "sane one", but can be prone to aggression and violent outbursts, as shown when her and Pearl's house is entered without permission. This capacity for rage seems to intensify after they are turned. They hold a strong distaste for nobles and "rich boys", stemming from a history of poverty. Cleo demonstrates a more manipulative and authoritative side to their personality, bluffing and outright lying to the other vampires and townsfolk. In her efforts to lead the coven, she becomes blunt, tactically minded, and callously efficient, often deriding people like Avid, who she views as a liability. On a side of her own (by her own admission), she demonstrates little loyalty to anyone but Pearl, prioritizing survival and personal safety over any faction's overall goal. Past: Cleo's family lived in Oakhurst over 200 years ago but allegedly left after a plague took root. Cleo returned to the town to reclaim her ancestral home, although this is later discovered to be a guise to their primary motivation. After Cleo is turned into a vampire by Pyro, she reveals her secret to Pearl, Martyn, and Dr. Legundo, and later reveals to Dr. Legundo that her mother was also a vampire. She reveals to Drift that she grew up in a vampire coven, where she was tasked with caring for the "livestock", implied to be humans farmed to be fed on. As a part of the coven, her mother imparted upon her knowledge of a vampire code, which vampires outside of Oakhurst in the wider world operate by. Cleo often expresses frustration that none of the Oakhurst vampires follow the code. At some point, her mother was slain by another vampire. This vampire made them a "thrall", which granted them reduced aging but a lack of agency over their own actions. Cleo now wants revenge for her mother, and came to Oakhurst to put the nail in the coffin, and make sure the vampire threat is gone for good. Drift Pronouns: She/Her Appearance: Drift has short mid-neck length sandy brown hair and hazel eyes. She wears a brown coat over her white shirt, black vest, and tan trousers held up with a brown belt. She has a monocle with a golden chain and a red bow tie. Personality: Drift considers herself a realist but tries to look on the bright side of things. Drift also is considered weak and scared by many of her peers, and after becoming a vampire expressed relief that she no longer needed to be scared Past: Drift was a detective who wanted to solve the mystery of Oakhurst. She traveled there to put the case to rest and find out the truth. It is later revealed that she fled the city after abandoning the case she had been trying to crack, after being threatened by the suspect with an orchid left at her doorstep, which was one of the things found at the murder scene. Avid Pronouns: He/Him Appearance: Avid has very pale skin and completely white hair with red eyes. He wears a white high-collared long sleeved shirt, deep blue double-breasted vest with two gold buttons, a white cravat, grey pants, and black boots. On his shoulders and back he wears a red coat, which is later revealed as Scott's originally. Personality: Avid was initially terrified of vampires, but believed he needed to kill them all because of what happened to his partner. He is quick to jump to conclusions when he thinks vampires are involved, but genuinely does care about protecting as many people as he can. He seems to be a bit of a hypocrite however, as he admonished Sausage for wanting to be turned, only to ask Shelby to turn him later in the same session. Though he later becomes less afraid and in fact enthusiastic about being with other vampires, and forming an almost romantic relationship with Scott. Past: As a child Avid and Elle, his hunting partner and best friend, got lost in the woods and were attacked by something. Avid doesn't remember much beyond the screaming and being covered in blood as Elle dragged him home. The attack left him with deep scratches on his neck that refused to heal or even scab. He kept them covered with bandages. Avid was an alchemist and monster hunter alongside his partner, Elle, who went out into the field and did the actual fighting. His partner got turned into what he presumed was a vampire, and he was forced to kill her when she attacked him. He wields her crossbow in her memory and told people he went to Oakhurst to avenge her death by killing any vampires he found there. He really went in hopes to find a cure for his wound as well. He later realised Elle could not have been a vampire after meeting Oakhurst’s vampires, and has since become convinced it was a werewolf. During his final episode, and post-finale streams, it was revealed that the creature that turned them was an unknown demon / monster that was able to keep both of them alive in dire conditions. The demon is more powerful when they feel aggressive, desperate or similar extreme emotions, which in turn emphasises them, leading to his slaughter of the Oakhurst livestock and Elle's lashing out at Avid in the animatic. Apo Pronouns: She/they Appearance: Apo has long brown white and brown eyes (though they have also been seen as slightly maroon). She wears a black dress with a red cravat and red flower. Personality: Apo is level-headed and rational, with a high sense of personal responsibility and a low tolerance for nonsense. Upon first arrival, they declare almost all of the other residents of Oakhurst insane, believing themself to be the only reasonable one. Due to her career as a soldier, she believes herself responsible for the safety of the town's residents, becoming frustrated when people wander off on their own. Eventually, this obligation to protect the town leads to her willingly turning in a bid to prevent future deaths. Past: Apo grew up with the military and enrolled, though later revealed she was discharged due to not being comfortable around blood; she was later tasked to go to Oakhurst to set up a base. Apo has also mentioned having a loved one back home named Cherri. Upon being turned into a vampire, Apo remains distraught over becoming a vampire and often wonders how many others are so collected about being vampires. When Apo discovers the only way for her to leave is to slaughter all the humans, they change into their Stage Three Vampire Form, abandoning their humanity and turning on the other members of the Oakhurst Militia. Scott Goldsmith Pronouns: He/Him Appearance: His wears a high-collared black cloak with a red trim, as well as a red shirt with a white cravat and sleeves. His has pale skin, and his hair completely white. Personality: Scott doesn't like hiding among the populace, but begrudgingly goes with it. After living for over 1000 years (600 asleep and ~500 before his slumber), he has become so far removed from humanity that he does not abide by, nor understand, human morals or standards. He is confounded by human logic and ethics because he does not think like them anymore. He has a profoundly selfish mindset but is by no means a dictator to his own kind, however he very much was in complete control of Oakhurst 600 years prior to the story. He is more sassy and charming than other vampires, notably Owen, and will happily pull rank on other people. Prior to burial, he terrorized humans and liked being worshipped. He has an ego and is outright arrogant at times. During his confrontation with Apo, he willing showed his back to her while they were talking precisely because he views himself as above humans and does not consider them a long-term threat. He is very susceptible to flattery, and is prone to holding grudges and acting passive-aggressive. Scott has outright stated that he chooses to be manipulative and evil, although it could be argued that his evil actions are mostly because he is selfish, his evil used to achieve his goals rather than evil being the intended result. However, he does act more nurturing and generous towards his fledglings (even giving food and items, offering shelter, and imparting wisdom to help them improve) and is surprisingly forgiving and merciful, although this could be seen as manipulation. He has no true grudge nor hatred towards humanity, he simply acts as an apex predator and has said in the past that he is more than willing to leave humans alive and feed off them, even being willing to pay for their blood with money (and entertainment). He knows when best to strike and when to take a step back, deciding not to feed on Avid during his conversation with Shelby where she was defending the brood because he knew it would undermine her point. His talk with Legundo implies that he has come to genuinely appreciate the world, and his desire to desecrate the beacons and leave Oakhurst to venture out into the world shows that he is a highly independent person who wants to enjoy what the new world has to offer. Despite not being officially elected or designated as a leader, he naturally settled into the role, as he is not someone who would ever be willing to be led by others. He is not overwhelmingly oppressive to his own kind and encourages their independence, although he does have a tendency to use intimidation when he feels slighted. In fact, he wants them to go out into the world and enjoy their eternal life separate to him, and gives them a lot of freedom even if he ultimately pushes them to follow his own goals. Scott sees Vampirism as a gift and wants to share it with people who are willing. He sees it as an insult when his fledglings seek to take the benefits of the gift but not follow through on the lifestyle, and furthermore when people view it as a curse and wish to extinguish it. He believes that all vampires will come to their side eventually, after all "They always do." story: Scott, at first, was simply a spoiled, young aristocratic manor lord who resided in Oakhurst, back when it went by a different name. His life would, however, change drastically one night, when he met a sketchy man during a stroll through town who made him an offer he simply couldn’t refuse. An offer of great power and eternal life—the gift of Vampirism—in exchange for money. Scott eagerly accepted the proposal, and proceeded to make good use of his new abilities. He quickly rose to power and instilled fear into the populace, leading them to regularly bring him livestock offerings to dissuade him from targeting them. However, this didn’t stop him from occasionally also wiping out masses of people anyway, becoming responsible for several of Oakhurst's fabled massacres. In his time, Scott turned hundreds of vampires, inducting them into the Goldsmith family—the first of which were mostly his corrupt aristocratic friends. He didn’t stay in contact with them for long though, typically just turning them at their request and letting them be, so they could wreak havoc in other lands. Eventually, the townsfolk grew sick of Scott’s oppressive rule, starting a secret resistance against him. Unbeknownst to him, they obtained a powerful spell that could put a vampire to sleep for several centuries. Then one night, led by a cleric, his castle was stormed and the spell was cast, Scott collapsing before he could even get his bearings. Successful in their endeavour, the townsfolk buried the now dormant vampire in his castle’s crypt. 600 years later, Scott awakens once more through unknown means. He briefly expresses annoyance at being weakened and put to sleep for so long, before emerging from the castle ruins and setting off to reclaim his domain over Oakhurst. Jack von Pyroscythe Pronouns: He/They Appearance: Pyro has short white hair and skin, red eyes with black whites. He wears a long black cloak and dark red shirt. Personality: Pyro was paranoid of being alone, because it made him think someone will hurt him. He was something of a people pleaser, especially toward Scott, but believed Owen to hold no power over them. At first Pyro is portrayed as a normal, decent guy. He acted good-natured and respectful, along with being a tad bit awkward and quiet. Later on the other episodes, he becomes more cruel, which makes him hated by many of the townspeople. After being reprimanded by Scott for discussing his unhappiness with the humans, Pyro lets go of his humanity and becomes downright brutal. They let the darkness within them claw to the surface. Scott's manipulations of Pyro partially contributed to why he became cruel, as he wanted to prove himself to him, especially because he felt accepted by Scott in a way his own family never did. He seemed to be a loner, mostly. Nobody truly saw them, and barely attempted to comprehend why they did what they did. He only wanted attention, or maybe love, or both, because he never got either of those from his family. They wanted validation and attention and would've done anything for it. He wanted to be noticed, but he didn't really belong anywhere, especially after he helped kill Avid. Not in life, vampirism or death was he truly accepted for who he was. Pyro was also motivated by power. His whole life, he was bullied with no power to stop it, until he killed his bully Czesław. When he became a vampire, he delighted in tormenting the townsfolk, and later killing Avid, as it gave him a sense of power over others that he had never had before. He was a tragic and a heavily flawed person. He wasn’t necessarily evil, but he did things that had horrible impacts on people. He did what he did without an ounce of guilt, because he thought he was doing what was right for the vampires. He became too arrogant for his own good, and in too deep with the vampirism, to ever see the light again. Story: Pyro was a university student who had previously never left the capital, and was previously part of a wealthy family, before he was written out of the will. They came to write a thesis on Oakhurst. They were often picked on by someone called Czesław, until one day Czesław died soon after seeing Pyro, causing them to be blamed for his death. This caused their family to disinherit him, and Pyro went out into the world to search for a research subject that was impressive enough for his family to let them back in. People often judged or harassed him in the capital, and his family put him under immense pressure to succeed, rewarding him with love whenever he did but distancing themselves from him and ignoring him whenever he did not. This caused a very intense feeling of isolation for him. In later episodes, Pyro claims that he did, in fact, kill Czesław. Although he claimed that it was a brutal, purposeful murder, his mindset at the time casts doubt upon the truth of this, and it is unclear as to the true events - whether it was a coincidence, an accidental death, or an act with intent to kill. He was the first to be turned into a vampire, but after hearing that there was a chance for a cure, he expressed interest in it. However, when he was confronted about this by Scott, he stopped pursuing it out of fear, and though he outwardly appeared to fully embrace vampirism, it was out of a need to survive rather than a choice he made willingly.

Two houses have been burned down so far in Oakhurst. One was Apo and Pyro's, burned by Apo to cut ties with her vampiric old roommate, despite her being a vampire herself.
