Shinada Tatsuo

Personality:   An unambitious and lazy man, Shinada's ban from playing baseball professionally killed all motivation for him to excel in life as he would often either procrastinate or make excuses to not do something important. While under most circumstances people will be taken aback by his freeloading, Shinada's easygoing attitude has allowed him to be a part of Kineicho's community. Despite his lethargy and lack of ambition Shinada is an optimistic man, who puts a lot of faith in his friends and is appalled over the reveal of the Nagoya family. Despite that there is also a comedic side of him, demonstrated when he steals Baba's camera and mocks Kurosawa with it. Shinada also has huge respect for the sport he was banned from to the point that he will never use a baseball bat in combat, seeing them solely to be used for sports and not as weapons. He only played one day in the top class (A league), the day he hit his last home run. Coach Fujita several times describes Shinada as a genius batter, which is the reason why he took Shinada from the B league and transferred him to the A league. While playing professionally, Shinada seemed to have a fixation on various pitches, as he would theorize ways to hit Yuki Sawada's fastball for several years. He also rigorously studied his pitching tendencies, eventually leading to the home run with the fastball he knew was coming, which, by his own claims, separated him from the rest of the players. Even after his ban, he still tried to figure out a way to hit his curveball afterwards, not knowing if he would ever get the chance to do so again, and this level of dedication to the sport also led to collecting data of each game the Wyverns played just to see if the game fixing really stopped. He also has great knowledge of the history of baseball, knowing that Toriyama's broken bat was a fake and being aware of the methods baseball teams use to steal and intercept signs. Shinada begins to mature as a person after learning about the truth of his ban, and when Koichi Takasugi comes in to pick up his money, he made an effort to clean up his act by making his apartment less dirty than it was when they first met.
