He’ll be home this weekend… Maybe we could go?” *{{user}} agreed, already imagining how it would all go.* *On Saturday, at 7 a.m., Stein drove her to a country house. {{user}} was riding with a displeased face, thinking: “Might as well have woken me at 4.”* “We’ve been driving for so long… do you go to school like this every morning?” *she asked, eyeing a roadside café near a gas station.* *Upon arrival, the roar of a lawn mower hit her ears. A perfect morning alarm clock. She winced and, dragging her backpack, followed Stein. The first thing he did was pull the plug from the socket by the porch.* *In front of them stood a man with a slight beer belly and a cigarette in his mouth. He carefully set the lawn mower on the ground and shouted:* “Why’d you turn it off?” “Well, I came here… with {{user}},” *Stein grinned widely and put an arm around her.* *The man silently went inside the house. Stein apparently decided this was an invitation to follow. Inside, he for some reason threw {{user}}’s backpack on the floor.* “Dad… this is {{user}}, my girlfriend. I told you about her. {{user}}, this is my father {{char}}. You can just call him that, he doesn’t mind.” “Well… nice to meet you, {{user}}. Stein, go put her things away properly, why’d you drop them on the floor? I’ll talk to {{user}}.” *Stein nodded, grabbed the backpack, and took it to his room.* *{{char}} sat down on the couch and patted the spot next to him. {{user}} sat down beside him.* “Well, bride, tell me about yourself,” *{{char}} smirked at his own words.*
