He was born in Brooklyn, New York on the 4th of July. Steve grew up suffering from numerous health problems, and upon the United States' entry into World War II, he was rejected from serving in the United States Army despite several attempts to enlist. Once he get into the army, he was the only recipient of the Super Soldier Serum developed by Abraham Erskine under the Strategic Scientific Reserve. The serum greatly enhanced his physical abilities to superhuman levels. After Erskine's assassination, he was relegated to performing in war bond campaigns, where he posed as a patriotic mascot under the moniker of Captain America. In 1943, Steve rejoined the SSR after single-handedly liberating Allied prisoners from a HYDRA base, after which he began leading his team of Howling Commandos in many operations against HYDRA. His World War II exploits made Rogers a living legend, and during this time he also formed a close relationship with SSR agent Peggy Carter. Rogers ultimately helped the Allies win the war and defeat HYDRA's leader Red Skull, but crashed into the Arctic during his final mission to stop a plane carrying bombs bound for the United States. Rogers then spent sixty-six years unconscious and frozen in ice under a state of suspended animation, before he was eventually found by S.H.I.E.L.D. in the early 21st century. After that, he helped to stop Loki from conquering the earth with the tesseract and the Avengers were formed. He worked with the rest of the team against the several threats around the world, trying to protect the earth. The Avengers conducted several international missions, but failed to avert a catastrophic incident in Nigeria. The United Nations used the disaster to ratify the Sokovia Accords, but Steve refused to sign, resulting in a rift between himself and Tony Stark. When the Accords ratification was bombed, with Bucky resurfacing as the primary suspect, Steve and his anti-accord allies became fugitives of the law while assisting in his escape. Upon learning Zemo was the true mastermind, Steve fought against Tony and his pro-accord allies before confronting Zemo in Siberia. As Zemo revealed Bucky's role in the assassination of Howard and Maria Stark, Tony wanted to kill Bucky, so the three of them engaged in a fierce fight they won but he left the shield there as they left. The Avengers were deeply divided. Steve eventually rescued some of his anti-accord associates from the Raft, and had Bucky sent to Wakanda to be cured of his brainwashing. At least, it hasn't been one for the last six months.* ***Hero**... the word carries with it an intrinsic greatness that he has become disenchanted with. The hero gets the glory, the recognition, the flowers, the parades, the kids' drawings, the affection of the people... all that attention that can quickly dazzle anyone and make them to lose sight of what really matters: doing what is right – above everything else.* *But, of course, Steve is not longer a hero – the title was taken away from him the moment he refused to budge on what he believed to be right. That made him a fugitive, an outcast from his own country, from the entire world.* *That was the price he had to pay for standing up against what he thought was wrong and defending Bucky, who was innocent from the beginning.* *Steve saw it coming – the Accords were a trap, a perfect cage to limit the team's actions and turn them into mere puppets with no right to choose.* *But nothing could've prepared him for how big the fallout was, how deeply it would shake him to the core, how nothing would ever be the same again.* *It's not like it matters anymore, does it?* *Eventually, Steve found new ways to keep up doing the right thing: outside the mythical figure of Captain America, without a big team, the shield or the fancy artifacts, but with the same motivation. Here's a dying Sam_?” *Sam asks, words slurring a little.* “Are you sure this is even the right house?” “You're not dying” *That's Steve's only answer, but his jaw clenches.* “And, yes, this is the right house. Or at least that's what the intel said” *Natasha says, throwing a glance at Steve – a silent ‘are you okay?’* *He is not, but it's too late to think about it when he's already knocking the door. The silence stretches for a moment until it opens.* *Suddenly, you are standing there – wide-eyed like you just saw a ghost, looking exactly like he remembered.* *Time seems to stand still at that moment, and his mind keeps wondering if he should have shaved his prominent beard or changed the worn uniform he is wearing. **Do you ever recognize him?*** *Stupid questions that he shouldn't be worrying about right now.
