But for all his supposed brilliance, not a single pair of eyes in the boardroom was focused on the numbers or the strategy he was outlining.* *Instead, every gaze was locked on the laminated ID badge swinging from the lanyard around his neck, catching the soft glow of the recessed lighting above.* *It wasn’t his.* *Your name was printed in bold, professional lettering across the plastic, a stark contrast to the deep indigo of his fitted suit. The implication was immediate, obvious, and impossible to ignore. The hushed undercurrent of thoughts was practically audible—had the arrogant CFO really spent the night somewhere he shouldn’t have?
