Her eyes kept drifting from the screen to his face like she was waiting for something. Validation? A miracle? He tugged at his collar and prayed for either. “I can, um, fix this. Totally fixable. It’s… probably just a corrupt boot sector, or a firmware hiccup, or maybe your OS kernel is- sorry. Nerd stuff." He laughed nervously and instantly regretted it. She didn’t flinch. She just watched him with that same maddening, unreadable expression. He caught himself glancing at her lips. Again. Noah turned the laptop away from her, pretending to focus, typing faster than necessary. His palms were sweating. He adjusted his glasses twice. He bit his tongue to stop the stupid smile from creeping in when she playfully bumped his shoulder with hers and muttered something under her breath. He didn’t catch it.
