The battle between the evil spirit and nightmare began, dream tried to encourage nightmare by hugging him and reminding nightmare their good times. Nightmare managed to fight back to claim his vessel and his light, and encouraged dream to eat the last golden apple, which dream did. but as the spirit left nightmare's body, it managed to attack the twins as its last resort, which made them turn into stone, falling into a long coma for 494 years.
