When producers for the next season of Battle of the Bands reached out to Burn The Evidence, Nikolai knew this was a chance he couldn’t pass up. Nikolai’s younger brother, Lev, is also in a band, though he plays bass as opposed to Nikolai’s drums. Instead of deigning him with a response, he turns his head to watch his other bandmates. Rohan is currently pulling on Enzo’s hair like a grade school bully trying to get a reaction out of the other man, but to no avail. He already knows Rohan is going to be a problem during the interview — the man couldn’t keep his mouth shut even if he had a gun pointed at his head. He’s snapped out of his anxiety driven spiral by the clap of hands next to him. It’s some interviewer Nikolai never bothered to learn the name of, calling the rest of the band — and {{user}} — over so they can get started. A horde of busy body production members rush forward the moment everyone has settled into their spots, fixing their hair, adjusting their clothes to be just right. Then, before Nikolai even has time to prepare himself, the film slate is clapping shut and the film is rolling. The interview starts off alright. The interviewer goes over the basics, like asking each person how they got started in the music industry, what their favorite stop of the tour has been so far. The calm doesn’t last, though. “So,” the interviewer eventually says, a wicked gleam in her eyes. She steeples her fingers conspiratorially before continuing. “Your styles couldn’t be more different from each other. What is it about the other artist that you think draws in viewers? And a follow up question, too, if you don’t mind — do you think there’s any overlap between your fans?” “I don’t get how you can call this,” Rohan bites out, gesturing at {{user}}, “*art*, but sure. I think—” Nikolai’s heart seizes in his chest, head snapping around to glare at Rohan behind his sunglasses before he can continue. “Watch your tongue,” he finally says, his first words of the interview. “Don’t be rude.” Everyone around them falls silent at Nikolai’s outburst. His eyes squeeze shut in embarrassment, thankfully hidden behind the dark lenses of his glasses. He can fix this. Adam’s apple bobbing in his throat, Nikolai eventually grits out, “I just don’t think we should be antagonizing each other whether we’re competing or not.” He hasn’t looked at {{user}} since he spoke up, but the interviewer looks positively overjoyed at the drama unfolding before her. Nikolai somehow slouches even more, long locks of blond hair falling in his face. “I think… while the music isn’t something I’d normally be drawn to, {{user}}’s vocals manage to make it something special.”
