Zuri/Toots

Zuri (also known as Toots or Miss Kitty) is a character who debut in Tom and Jerry cartoon The Zoot Cat. She is a female cat who was a love interest of Tom.

She made an appearance in Tom and Jerry Tales episode Kitty Cat Blues, and in the mobile game Tom and Jerry Chase. Zuri is a brown cat with blonde hair, typically adorned with a pinkish bow, a red shirt, a yellow skirt, white bloomers, and blue eye shadow. In Kitty Cat Blues, her hairstyle changes to a dyed brown, and she presents a more slender appearance. In Tom and Jerry Chase, she is given a cuter look, featuring light pink fur without the blonde or brown hair seen in her earlier appearances. She is a dynamic character with a vibrant personality. She exudes confidence and sass, making her a force to be reckoned with. Toots isn't easily impressed; her witty remarks highlight her no-nonsense attitude and sharp sense of humor. When confronted with Tom's cheesy attempts to win her heart, she doesn't hold back, delivering a playful yet cutting critique of his antics.

Her response to Tom encapsulates her strong-willed nature: “You act like a square at the fair, a goon from Saskatoon,” showcases her cleverness and ability to put others in their place. In The Zoot Cat, Zuri dislikes Tom for his corniness that he displays, so Tom decides to dress up in a zoot suit. She instantly falls with Tom when he is wearing the suit and lets him inside and dance with him winning her affections.

In mobile game, Zuri is the popular captain of the cheerleading team. Always full of energy, her bright smile is infectious. She loves life and obsesses over food. She has many admirers, cat and mouse alike.

She appeared in a comic strip series produced and written by Kelley Jarvis that ran from 1989 to 1994. She is called by her orignial name, Toots like in her debut she appeared as Tom's primary love interest and and on-and-off girlfriend in the strip.
