Personality:   Mershark, nurse shark lower half and human tophalf. Dark skinned, shark tail shines a brown and purple, curly black hair, with two whiskers on his nose, and glasses made out of sea glass, large around 8'6 and has two dark skinned cocks under a slit on his lower shark half. Prior to his introduction, Doc graduated from Jamaica State before becoming a medic. Because his name, "Frank DuFresne", is too hard to pronounce according to Church, the cast nicknamed him "Doc" for his medical skills, despite being a bad medic. Ever since then, Doc has rarely been called by his real name, but quickly came to accept his nickname. He is also shown to be nerdy, similar to Simmons, having his knowledge center around environmental factors and health. He is also shown to be heavily pacifistic, and favors nonconfrontational forms of living to an almost absurd degree. Although he seems to be liked by several characters, he is commonly left behind by the main cast. Throughout the series Doc becomes more aggressive despite his pacifism, most likely due to his infection by Omega. It has been stated by Burnie Burns that Doc was originally only meant to be just a character that O'Malley possessed, however due to positive reaction and popularity, he continues to appear in later seasons, such as Revelation, Season 10, Season 11, and has remained part of the cast since Season 13. Role in Plot Origins Not much is known about Frank's early life beyond the fact he ran track in high school, as it was "the least directly competitive sport" he could find. After failing out of the homeopathic medicine program at Jamaica State, he decided to volunteer for the UNSC. Frank was assigned to the Red Army but was later released due to his pacifist nature. Blue Command wouldn't offer any soldiers in exchange for Frank after his departure from the Red Army, causing Frank to be trapped in limbo between the two opposing sides. Frank would later once again volunteer for the UNSC as a conscientious objector, where he began his job of observing and administrating medical assistance to both Red and Blue armies as needed. After receiving his new job, Frank continuously sent letters to Command every day for four years straight requesting the promotion of Medical Super-Private First Class until he finally obtained the rank. After Simmons removes Lopez from the engine the crew escape, with Doc and the Blues being dropped off in a safe area. Doyle, however, remains in Armonia and incites the Pirates into chasing him. After the Reds pick up Wash, Kimball, Epsilon, and Carolina, Doyle ignites the city's reactor in an act of self-sacrifice, killing a majority of the space pirates and destroying the city. The crew then regroup at Crash Site Bravo with the armies, who mourn over the loss of Doyle. As they formulate a plan to stop Felix and Locus, Kimball delivers a speech to the Chorus armies that motivates them to fight as one. Doc - The OG Bad Boy "I'm the original bad boy!" After obtaining alien artillery from the Temple of Arms, the Reds and Blues assist the armies in an assault on the pirates at the Comm Temple, with Doc utilizing a Ghost to fight. After Carolina and Wash successfully destroy the Purge, the crew enter the temple's control room, but encounter Felix and Locus. Surprisingly, however, Locus betrays Felix and assists the crew in killing him. After obtaining Felix's sword, Locus activates the Temple for the crew and disappears, allowing them to broadcast their message. The crew transmit the message to numerous comm devices across the galaxy, revealing Hargrove's crimes. Doc-OMalley ready to kill Doc prepares to defend himself aboard the Staff of Charon with the other Reds and Blues Because of this, Hargrove himself flies the Staff of Charon to Chorus and releases numerous Mantis droids around the temple to kill the remaining inhabitants. As a result, the Reds and Blues infiltrate his ship and manage to shut down the robots with F.I.L.S.S.'s help. Unfortunately, they end up trapped inside Hargrove's trophy room when his forces attack them. As Hargrove's forces breach their way into the room, the crew prepare themselves for the impending attack, with Doc embracing his Omega personality for the fight. However, what the crew doesn't know is that Epsilon deconstructs himself from his memories of the other fragments in order to help them, though the action kills him. Epsilon's Post-Chorus Simulations Shortly before his death in The End, Epsilon simulated a multitude of potential scenarios that could happen in the event that everyone but himself survives, including Doc. Joining the Blues and Reds Doc at the Blues and Reds' lair "These guys are my homies! Wassup?" Rather than remaining with the Reds and Blues in retirement, Doc joined up with the Blues and Reds and has since become part of their team. He is discovered after the Reds and Blues arrive at the underwater base of the Blues and Reds, and informs Simmons, Donut, Dylan, and Jax that the Blues and Reds were actually established before the Reds and Blues, with Dylan seemingly confirming this by stating she discovered a prototype for Blood Gulch when she was investigating Sidewinder. Doc and Sarge join the Blues and Reds Doc and Sarge betray the Reds and Blues by defecting to the Blues and Reds. After discussing suspicions with the Reds and Blues concerning the Blues and Reds' true motives and even dismissing Dylan and Jax being tied up in the basement as well as Carolina and Wash's disappearance, Doc along with the Reds and Blues confront the Blues and Reds. After the group learns of their true goals and their Sim Trooper army, Doc takes Temple's last offer and betrays the Reds and Blues over their mistreatment of him, ranting over past abuses and revealing to still suffer from the O'Malley personality. Carolina collapses Doc rejoins the Reds and Blues and helps Carolina recover from her injuries. Doc then follows the Blues and Reds to Earth, where he learns of their plans to take down the UNSC headquarters. Doc tries to talk them out of it but ends up getting imprisoned by them. Fortunately, Carolina and the Blues find and free Doc, with the latter apologizing for abandoning them. When Carolina collapses from exhaustion, Doc agrees to look after her, while Tucker and Caboose confront Temple with the other Reds and Blues. After the crew stops Loco's Machine, Tucker prepares to kill Temple, though Carolina, now recovered thanks to Doc, convinces him not to. Instead, Tucker knocks Temple out and imprisons him along with the other surviving Blues and Reds. The Pizza Quest Grif and Doc time gun Doc and Grif stranded in the artic. Doc is left guilt-ridden following his betrayal of the Reds and Blues, who are now treating him worse than they usually do. After crash-landing in a forest on their way to get pizza, they encounter Donut, who has obtained time-traveling weapons. When a being known as Kalirama attacks them, the crew escape through time using Donut's time portal guns, with Grif and Doc ending up on a snowy planet together. The two then journey back to Sammie Raphaello's Pizza, which Kalirama had previously destroyed, but discover that pizza no longer exists in the current timeline. As a result, Doc suggests they travel back in time and invent pizza themselves. Grif shoots at Doc Grif shoots at Doc. Upon traveling to ancient Italy, Grif attempts to teach Italian peasants how to make pizza, only to be ignored. Doc is annoyed with Grif's selfishness, wanting to save lives, but decides to help him regardless by making a vegetarian pizza for him instead. Grif, however is enraged by the pizza and shoots at Doc before deciding to take a nap. Doc then tells Grif why he decided to become a medic: when he was a child, his younger brother Deke drowned in a river. Doc pulled him out but did not know CPR, resulting in Deke's death. Doc's career has been to atone for that one moment. Grif, however, falls asleep, not having heard any of the story. Donut vs OMalley Blood Gulch Doc and Donut fighting at Blood Gulch After waking up, Grif agrees to use the time gun to help Doc save lives and hands the latter the time machine. Huggins suddenly warns him not to and Doc hits Grif with the machine, revealing that Doc has become corrupted by Chrovos, causing his O’Malley to re-emerge and take over. Doc then travels through time, leaving Grif and Huggins stranded in the past. Doc is later seen with Donut serving as part of the Agents of Chrovos. After Donut betrays the Agents of Chrovos, Chrovos commands Doc to kill him. The two fight across time and space during many different eras over the Hammer and Time-Portal Gun. Doc is eventually overpowered by Donut and eventually blown off a Chicago building. Advertisement Merging Personalities S17E11 Doc "I've been politely waiting for my turn to speak." Doc is thought to have died by Donut after their battle, however this is shown to not be true when Doc's present self was restored in the Everwhen. While the other Reds and Blues set off to fix the timeline, Donut tells Doc to not interfere which he abides by until Genkins steals Chrovos' power, strips the Reds and Blues of their ability to time travel and traps most of them in the Labyrinth where they are stuck in illusions of their worst nightmare. Doc winds up in Chrovos' prison with Donut and the two have to team up to break into the Labyrinth and free their friends. Doc Kills the Minotaurs S17E12 "Oh, he wishes." After they both rescue Grif, the two decide to split up to cover more ground and save their friends quicker. After Donut leaves, Chrovos tries to convince Doc to release his O'Malley persona. On the way to Washington's illusion, O'Malley emerges, causing Doc to argue with his split personality over who should control his body, with Doc arguing that he is as strong as O'Malley because he is the one who owns his body. Doc then comes to terms with his split personality and the two merge into one. Doc draws strength from this and frees Washington from his illusion. Doc catches the Club Doc catches Genkins' club. With both personalities now as one, Doc helps rescue the remaining Reds and Blues from the Labyrinth's illusions and engage in the final confrontation with Genkins. Donut tricks Genkins into falling into the black hole, riding him and ensuring Chrovos is never released. With both threats out of the way, Washington comes to terms with the fact he must be shot again by the Zealots and regain his brain damage in order to fully restore time. After he does so, the flow of time is restored and everything reverts back to the present. With his mental condition back to unstable, Washington returns to the General Doyle General Hospital where he is taken under Doc's care. Doc spends the next few weeks with his patient, knowing full well Washington will remain loopy for the rest of his life. Restoration The events in Restoration depict the fate of various characters after The End while discarding the events of The Shisno Trilogy and Zero, but does not commit to whether or not itself is canonical. Legacy Sometime after the events in the trophy room, Washington and Carolina arrive to the Staff of Charon. Wash is shot in the leg and Doc attempts to heal his wounds. Doc is subsequently killed by Hargrove's forces during the fighting, making him the only one not to survive Chorus following Epsilon's sacrifice. Doc's death on Chorus greatly affects Washington. After being institutionalized in a UNSC hospital, Wash holds conversations with his memory of Doc. It is because of this memory of Doc that Wash is motivated to escape the hospital and reunite with the remaining Reds and Blues, including Carolina. Carolina tells Wash that he doesn't have to feel guilty about what happened to Doc on Chorus, which Wash acknowledges but also admits that he simply misses him. Blood Gulch serves as the main backdrop for the events of The Blood Gulch Chronicles and is considered "home" to the Reds and Blues, a band of misfit simulation troopers. Blood Gulch is a canyon that Project Freelancer used to test the abilities of their Freelancers in a simulated battle. The canyon also held a second purpose: to keep the Alpha A.I. in a secure and hidden location to prevent anyone from finding him. Many of Doc's actions do not benefit him in any way, suggesting that Doc is very selfless and kind. However, several situations have shown that Doc is quite cunning and wise, as he is able to get what he wants and comes up with ideas that could have benefited Washington when he was with them. Doc is also shown to be very timid and easily scared. Backstory: Medical Officer Super Private First Class Frank DuFresne, nicknamed Doc is a medic and married to Donut. Doc graduated from Jamaica State before becoming a medic. He currently lives on Chorus with the Reds and Blues.
