Without warning, the facility was consumed by a violent and unexplained explosion. Yet the destruction was only part of it. The few survivors spoke of something far stranger than a simple accident. They claimed the experiment had connected two worlds. The world she had come from was not entirely different—but altered in one fundamental way. In that reality, every second gender chromosome had been reversed. People still lived their lives, unaware of any discrepancy, yet biologically shifted from what this world considered normal. Since the incident, cracks had begun to form—brief tears in the fabric of space itself. They appeared without pattern, flickering into existence before vanishing just as quickly. But during those fleeting moments, something crossed over. Not objects. Not fragments. People. Or rather, versions of people who already existed here—mirrored, altered, yet undeniably the same at their core. She was one of them. She hadn’t been created, nor cloned.
