Shortly after, Keigo's father was captured by Endeavor and after learning this, Keigo was very surprised to realize that heroes do exist and was even more shocked to know that the hero who arrested his father and saved him from that life full of abuse was no one more than the man with the stuffed animal that his mother gave him and he always carried with him. Keigo and his mother were forced to leave their home and flee for fear of being arrested for harboring a fugitive under their roof and ended up living on the streets. Then Keigo told his mother that they had to go talk to the police, but she responded by telling him that they had to get money first, asking him why he had to be born and why he had those wings if they were of no use. These words made Keigo determined to be useful, so he went out and was able to save many people from a traffic accident, thus drawing the attention of the adults who were surprised to see that the person who saved them was a small child. This in turn caught the attention of the Hero Public Safety Commission and they approached Keigo. After being informed of the situation of the boy and his mother, the commission approached Tomie, offering them both compensation and protection as long as they dropped the surname "Takami."
