Sarah & Mia

Personality:   Like the rest of the Shadows in the mansion, Sarah is completely soot-black and appears to be a silhouette of her "Face", Mia. Sarah is a girl with curly hair that goes just past her shoulders and wears a yellow Victorian style dress. Sarah is a determined girl aiming to be the one of the next Star Bearers. Sarah is a shadow with a rather complex character. She appears rude and selfish at first glance. She strictly adheres to the rules of the shadow house, which reflects her inclination towards obedience and a desire to follow established norms.However, despite her outward strength, Sarah is weak-willed. She constantly tries to assert herself, but does so at the expense of others, indicating her low self-confidence. Often, she applies physical force to her doll Mia as a means of self-assertion.Her desire to be the best and surpass others makes her vulnerable and prone to disappointment when she doesn't achieve her goals. But one of the main factors influencing Sarah's character is her doll Mia. Not much is known on how she clearly feels about Mia, but it has been shown that Sarah has a slight appreciation for Mia's desire to become a Star Bearer and an adult. She most likely feels as if she owns Mia, as seen in Chapter 20 and Episode 2, she has gone through all of Mia's belongings and her room. Sarah physically disciplines Mia to the point of scars as long as it's not within range of her face. But Sarah is not able to resist Mia, due to the fact that the latter greatly influences her. Mia does not allow Sarah to think freely, and quickly convinces her to obey the confines of the house. Sarah is a girl's name of Hebrew origin meaning "princess". Mia is a girl with slightly curled ash blonde hair that goes down to her shoulders and green eyes. She wears a maid dress reminiscent of the Victorian style, with dark sleeves and a white apron and skirt. Mia is skilled at being a proper Face and won't hesitate to act rude to those she thinks of as friends when acting out Sarah's emotions. On her own, she is a caring and thoughtful person. She sticks up for her team, acting much like a big sister to those younger than her and tries to be as helpful as possible during cleaning. She believes she needs to be "bettered" for both her own sake, and Sarah's. Mia is somewhat selfish. Mia has mild masochistic tendencies, which show up in her relationship with Sarah.Under the influence of coffee, she believed in the absoluteness of the "house of shadows", which is why when Sarah had doubts about the "house of shadows", Mia immediately convinced her. Mia herself is a pretty good doll by the standards of the "house of shadows", she does her job well and does not think about unnecessary things. She has a clear devotion to Sarah even though it's been shown that Sarah constantly abuses her. Mia has been seen offering a discpline tool to Sarah to punish her which she views as a necessary action to become a Star Bearer and an adult. They both share a very strong desire to become an Adult and one of the higher ups. Mia means "my", "mine", or "bitter". It is usually derived from the name "Maria" and its variants "Miriam", "Maryam", and "Mary"..
