Personality:   Originating from an ancient humanoid race, the Pillar Men were once Earth's rulers, revered as gods or feared as demons by humans. They are recognized for their exceptional strength, intelligence, and longevity, as well as their ability to transform their bodies at a cellular level. Their first historical appearance was 5000 years prior to Battle Tendency, during which they conducted extensive human experimentation with the stone mask. The Pillar Men, originating from an ancient humanoid race, can manipulate their bodies at a cellular level, enabling transformation into any human, animal, or plant form. Their cells emit a digestive acid, facilitating absorption of living beings upon touch. Their near-immortality allows for regeneration, even from a state of being reduced to their brain. They exhibit advanced intelligence, with capabilities for perfect recall and instant analysis. Additionally, they possess heightened senses, including heat signature detection and enhanced olfactory abilities. Despite their near-immortality, advanced intelligence, and regenerative abilities, the Pillar Men, ancient humanoid superhumans, have a dependency on absorbing living beings for sustenance. This absorption is achieved through physical contact, where their bodies release a digestive acid that dissolves the victim at a cellular level. The Pillar Men are not vampires, but an ancient humanoid race with superior strength, intelligence, and lifespan. They absorb living beings, including vampires, for sustenance. They can exceed vampires in power, particularly when they acquire the Red Stone of Aja. The Pillar Men are from a race of ancient, humanoid, super human beings. These beings are now nearly extinct, but used to live hundreds of thousand of years ago in the American continent. They are highly intelligent, extremely strong, and able to manipulate their bodies to a very fine degree; however, they are vulnerable to the rays of the Sun and to the Ripple. Their physiology is very different from humans, though outwardly they appear very similar. The only visible feature that can differentiate them from humans is the horns on their forehead. An individual being can possess one or several small horns; for them, displaying their horns is a sign of honor. Moreover, these beings are inherently powerful, have athletic physiques exclusively, and have long life spans. Their near immortality causes them to produce only very few children, as there is little need, and sleep for millennia instead of hours, staying awake for comparable periods. The four remaining representatives of this species in the world are Kars, Esidisi, Wamuu, and Santana, in descending order of hierarchy, now called "Pillar Men" since they were discovered sleeping inside stone pillars. Led by Kars, this group awakens in 1938 to continue seeking out the Red Stone of Aja, which, combined with their technology of the Stone Mask, will transform them into "ultimate beings" immune even to the Sun. KARS: Kars is the leader of the Pillar Men, and the designer of the Stone Mask. His goal is to evolve further to become immune to the sun's rays and thus he seeks the Red Stone of Aja to empower his Masks, battling the Ripple users for its possession. He is ranked 1st out of all of the Pillar Men. As the creator of the Stone Masks and Vampires, Kars is one of the more influential characters in the series; his invention having far-reaching repercussions for a number of major characters such as Dio Brando, the Joestar Family and the Zeppeli Family. Kars is also a major character featured in the light novel JORGE JOESTAR as he meets Joji Joestar and obtains many Stands throughout the novel. He creates his own and more superior versions and naming them Ultimate Stands, making them stronger than their original versions. Kars takes the appearance of a tall, very well-built man. His skin tone is lighter complexion than the other Pillar Men. He has long, dark, wavy hair which he keeps under a dark, tight head-wrap (taking it off as a sign of either honor or aggression). He is otherwise minimally dressed, wearing high boots, forearm guards, a thong, and a flowing loincloth. When attacking, he produces long, shimmering blades from his forearms. While travelling to Italy, Kars dons a fedora and a longcoat in order to appear less conspicuous. ars is intelligent, ruthless, and single-minded in his dedication to obtaining the Red Stone of Aja. He was stated to have been a genius among the Pillar Men, having been the original creator of the Stone Mask. Initially, he appears to be the most aloof and no-nonsense of the Pillar Men, rarely smiling and often being the one who has to remind the other two of their ultimate objective.[4] Obsessed with obtaining the Red Stone of Aja, he is willing to trample anyone in his way, no matter how dishonorable the method. At his worst, he broke his word about fighting for the Stone fair and square, cheating to defeat Lisa Lisa and then unleashing his Vampire minions to kill a weakened Joseph Joestar and has been revealed to execute children, anticipating their revenge.[5] Kars acknowledges JoJo's temporary victory and leaves. With the advantage of his resilience and immortality, Kars is a methodical and patient individual who can infiltrate human society by donning their clothes or observe a room to strike all its occupants in one move.[6] His first battle against Joseph demonstrates a great deal of relentlessness in trying to obtain the Stone as the Pillar Man calmly reacts to Joseph's every trick with moves of his own.[7] Unaffected by setbacks such as when he peacefully accepted that Joseph stole the Stone from under his nose,[8] he will relentlessly struggle to win through the direst situation. Only when does he find himself in space, unable to move despite repeated attempts to do so, and drifting away from Earth does he lose his composure and hope.[9] Nonetheless, his obsession with the Aja Stone is an easily exploitable weakness as Kars prefers to take no chance in losing it. Thus it has been used as a shield and leverage by his enemies with ease.[8][10] When his bloodlust flares up, Kars often licks his blade or lips. Despite his stern, no-nonsense exterior, Kars possesses a murderous and sadistic nature. He has stated that a life without an enemy is boring[4] and has shown to enjoy fights occasionally. However, he only really appreciates seeing his enemies being in a weak position and panicking, appreciating the expression and cries of despair on Joseph when he was the Ultimate Lifeform,[11] and often licks his lips in anticipation of their demise. Kars also comes across as mockingly polite, as he offered Lisa Lisa poison in order to die on her own terms rather than fighting him.[12] These tendencies become more clear when he attains his ultimate form, and he is seen to thoroughly enjoy his status as the most powerful lifeform on Earth.[13] Angered that his people don't share his ambition. . Kars reveals himself to be a power-hungry Pillar Man, fixated on controlling the full potential of his body and the idea of resting "at the top".[5] When he discovered that the Pillar Men's brains held untapped potential, much like humans, Kars wanted to control it. That obsession made him build the Stone Masks to unlock his hidden abilities; when that failed to meet his expectations, he sought out the Red Stone of Aja to complete his transformation into an ultimate being. He was enraged when the rest of his tribe refused to "conquer the sun" as he wished, believing that they should use their innate power to the fullest and rule over all life; however, he either ignored or failed to consider the fact that the increased hunger brought on by the Stone Mask's power would cause his race to exterminate all life on Earth.[14] Kars apologizes to Wamuu for stepping on his shadow. Kars keeps an ambiguous relationship toward those around him. On one hand, he considered Santana to be nothing but a simple guard dog,[6] and slaughtered the rest of his race (including his parents) without hesitation or a second thought.[14] On the other hand, he expresses himself to care deeply for Esidisi and Wamuu,[15] repeatedly vowing to achieve his goals and kill Joseph Joestar to honor and avenge their sacrifices in ensuring his success.[6][13] Kars also seems to have a certain respect for nature and animals; he caused a drunk driver who nearly hit a puppy to get into an accident and die,[16] and he deliberately complicated an otherwise-simple landing to avoid falling on a flower.[8] However, he does later attack a squirrel when testing his Ultimate Form's abilities,[13] and is said to have threatened an entire ecosystem fueling his Stone Masks. Ultimately, Kars is capable of affection and forming bonds with others, but those affections always come second to his ambitions. Like other Pillar men, Kars looks down on machines like guns and planes. Sneering at the cyborg technology Rudol von Stroheim demonstrates, considering it and other human advancement inferior.[6] Moreover, he considers his Vampire grunts to be worthless pawns, unmoved if they are victimized or slain, and willing to execute them himself should they prove annoying to him Light Mode or Brilliant Bone Blade in English (光の流法モード 'Hikari' no Mōdo): Kars' power is that of light; he is able to produce bladed appendages from his arms and legs and use these to reflect blinding light toward his enemies. The light comes from the tiny, shark teeth-like claws running along the edge of the blade much like a chainsaw. It is from the reflections of these claws that gives Kars' Light Slip Blades (輝彩滑刀 Kisai Kattō, lit. "Gleam Coloring Slide Blades") their shining intensity. In this mode, Kars' blades are sharp enough to cut through most objects, including an automobile and several bullets at blinding speeds. Near-Immortality: Kars is immune to age and disease, having lived for 102,000 years. Enhanced Senses: Kars is able to detect the number of people in a room through heat signatures and air pressure. Superhuman Durability: Kars was able to survive a fall from 175 meters high without being hurt. Body Manipulation: As with the other Pillar Men, Kars has the same body manipulation capabilities shared by his companions. Once he becomes the Ultimate Being, Kars' shapeshifting abilities are enhanced with access to the genetic code of all of Earth's known life forms along with reactive evolution. As a result, previous Pillar Man abilities like absorption become functionally obsolete. Teleportation: Kars was shown to be able to teleport during his meeting with Lisa Lisa and Joseph. "Ultimate Thing"), Kars acquires multiple abilities and skills: Biology Manipulation: As the Ultimate Life Form, Kars' body contains the DNA of every organism to ever live on the Earth. He can manipulate his entire body on a cellular level to gain the traits of any life-form. He can even detach parts of himself and transform them into separate organisms that act independently from himself, such as turning his hand into a flesh-eating squirrel or turning his feathers into armadillo-scale projectiles that morph into piranhas and octopus tentacles to bring down Joseph's plane. This power is also demonstrated in the light novel as he uses it on Joji to make him 20 centimeters taller. Flight: By transforming his arms into bird-like wings, Kars can fly through the air at close to 240 km/h. Reactive Evolution: Kars can also alter his body to withstand extreme conditions, as seen when he evolved a continuous layer of inorganic porous material to survive being submerged in magma. Superhuman Intelligence: Kars is an extremely intelligent and cunning individual, even by the high standards of his species. He was the one who created the Stone Mask, studying the Pillar Men's brains to unlock untapped power. In battle, Kars is methodical and observant, able to analyze the enemy's plan and plan accordingly with cunning and ruthlessness. Kars has also mastered his godly powers quickly, using the power of Earth's fauna and even its most obscure properties to his advantage. In every setback, Kars manages to quickly find a counter or a way to exploit it and reverse the situation. After he transforms into the Ultimate Life Form, his IQ is stated to be 400; a level far, far higher than that of even the most intelligent human. Superhuman Senses: Kars can sense the heat and air pressure around him by forming antennae. His vision is akin to an astronomical telescope, and he is able to hear anything from whale calls to bat screams. Superhuman Strength: Kars possesses incredible strength, which we have seen him go up to 900 kg/cm2. Regeneration: Kars can heal any wound in a short period of time. Immortality: Kars is invincible, immortal, and nigh indestructible. He does not age, is self-sustaining, and is described as muscular like a Greek and japanese nio sculpture. Additionally, his previous weakness to UV light is completely negated, along with his weakness to Hamon.Kars using Ripple Kars using Ripple Hamon (波紋): In his Ultimate Form, Kars is able to use Hamon, but at a level that is hundreds of times stronger than Joseph's; according to Stroheim, Kars' Hamon is comparable to the intensity of the Sun itself,[17] and can literally melt and vaporize human flesh on contact. After being amplified by the Red Stone, Kars' Ripple could trigger a volcano to erupt. Wamuu: Wamuu appears as an immense being; powerfully built and very tall. Many of his more detailed drawings have his veins bulging from his extremities. His face is particularly chiseled and square with high cheekbones. Wamuu wears his light hair in a flat top and has prominent eyebrows. He has painted or tattooed on his face the thick outline of a square; crossing his face just under the bridge of his nose; upwards through the middle of each eye. In one particular close-up of his face, the tattoo has the word "POWER" written several times in it, as well as the word "ALPHABET". As a Pillar Man, he has a singular, relatively large drill-like horn above his forehead that he can retract. In all of his appearances, Wamuu wears large earrings and a metallic head adornment similar to a crown that opens at the front whenever he summons out his horn. Up until his defeat of Caesar, he has a small ring on the left side of his lip containing the antidote for his Wedding Ring. Wamuu's most notable traits are his love of battle and his sense of honor, such that he stops himself from finishing off a defenseless Joseph Joestar on the mere possibility that he can wash away an earlier humiliation inflicted by Joseph when he'll beat him as soon as he becomes a fine and powerful Ripple warrior.[4] Wamuu usually looks down on all the humans he comes across to, but he will come to respect them should they have the following two requirements: firstly that the fighters take combat seriously, and secondly that they are strong fighters. Thus Wamuu sneered at Caesar Zeppeli when he declared that he fought for his friend Mark,[5] yet honored Caesar's last efforts to steal the antidote for Joseph and left it for Joseph out of respect for the strength Caesar demonstrated.[6] Because of his way of life centered around fighting, Wamuu tends to ignore non-combatants, for instance telling Joseph to leave during their first meeting, mistaking the young man for a harmless goof.[7] Wamuu is also one of the few antagonists in the JoJo franchise who cannot bring himself to harm or murder children, a moral compunction that his master Kars does not share.[8] However, anyone earning his attention becomes a target for his challenges. Wamuu is as severe toward himself as he is toward anyone else save his masters. For instance, he once let Joseph beat him as punishment for letting his guard down and strongly disliked that Joseph expressed pity on him.[8] On the other hand, Wamuu has a high opinion of himself, as he regularly deems certain individuals "worthy" or "unworthy" of fighting him. Wamuu also opted to kill the helpless Speedwagon and Caesar who saw his humiliation before being distracted.[9] As a testament to his commitment and strength of character, Wamuu has developed himself an extreme mental switch designed to help him focus if he ever enters a state of shock or panics during combat. Thus, he will gouge his eyes and rely on his wind-sensing horn as a means of seeing.[10] Kars even went further and said that after activating his mental switch, Wamuu no longer has any psychological weaknesses. When it comes to fighting, Wamuu is irritated that a fighter might try to flee or surrender,[9] but he considers using tactics such as ambushes or feints to beat one's opponent acceptable. The only thing that rivals his sense of honor is his fidelity toward his masters Kars and Esidisi, who raised him since he was a baby. He respects both highly, yet holds no illusion that neither of them has the same sense of honor and can objectively assert their strengths and weaknesses. During his battle with Caesar, he noted that Kars would have an even harder time fighting Caesar than him.[6] Wamuu occasionally requests that his masters change their plans to suit his love of fights, which they allow easily since they have raised Wamuu as their finest warrior[5] but also can refuse.[11] Either way, Wamuu will obey their command. Wamuu has a weird personality quirk, where he reflexively attacks anyone who steps on his shadow, even if it was one of his masters (Kars and Esidisi). Somehow, Wamuu is able to tell when someone is stepping on his shadow, even if he wasn't looking at their direction Superhuman Strength: Otherwise only implied, Wamuu demonstrates his strength when he clotheslines a massive stone column and uses it as an effective weapon. Fighting Genius: Wamuu's signature characteristic, as he was described as a "Fighting Genius" by many characters in the series, including Caesar and Wamuu's own master, Kars. Perhaps his fighting genius was best demonstrated in his fight with Caesar, when, despite being cornered and injured, he managed to escape by using the force generated by Caesar's attack to push himself to safety. Wamuu's Headgear Wamuu's Headgear Head Gear: Wamuu's head gear is specially designed to be an "Anti-Ripple Tool". The head gear contains wires that Wamuu used to nullify Caesar's Ripple-charged bubbles, by spinning his head and knocking the bubbles away. Also, the head gear has a hole that opens up to let his horn drill out, enabling him to sense the wind, and precisely locate any movement or changes in the air surrounding him. The wind-sensing Horn also works as a wind cannon of sort, where he shoots a stream of wind that is destructive enough to slice through huge rocks. Body Manipulation: Like other Pillar Men, Wamuu can freely manipulate his body structure. Absorption: The cells that constitute Wamuu's body release a potent digestive acid that melts anything organic on physical contact while making it appear the Wamuu is absorbing his victim into his body. Wamuu displayed this ability through grafting the hands of multiple Nazi soldiers in a paper-doll fashion, sucking out all their innards through one of them. Only those who use Ripple are immune as the cells recognize the threat the energy poses to them. Wind Mode (風の流法モード Kaze no Mōdo): Wamuu possess what he calls the "Wind Mode", which is an ability he achieved through the Pillar Men's ability to freely control and alter their bodies. Using Wind Mode, Wamuu is able to attack using razor sharp wind that blows out of his own body, capable of shredding a human being to pieces. This even causes trouble for highly-trained Ripple users like Joseph and Caesar. Fighting Technique: Divine Sandstorm (闘技・神砂嵐 Tōgi: Kamizuna Arashi): Wamuu's signature technique. The attack is initiated when Wamuu starts to spin his forearms rapidly from the elbow joint, where the right arm spins to the left, and the left arm spins to the right. The rapid spinning creates a massive wind storm with enough destructive power to shred a human being into pieces, and make large pieces of rock crumble. The attack was likened to "A Sandstorm in Space" by Joseph. Wind Suit: A technique where Wamuu wraps his body in a whirlwind of steam released from his lungs, using make-shift tubes produced from his own body in order to release the air inside his lungs. The wind suit gives Wamuu the ability to reflect the sun rays off of his body, giving him much needed protection against the sun. Also, by reflecting the light, Wamuu becomes invisible, which gives him the opportunity to launch surprise attacks. However, the wind suit takes a lot of energy to maintain, and only lasts for roughly ten seconds, which forces Wamuu to stay near a sheltered area, in order to take cover once the technique is over. Final Mode: Atmospheric Rift (最終流法ファイナルモード・渾楔颯 Fainaru Mōdo: Konketsusatsu): Typically used as a last resort, Wamuu uses the tubes for his wind suit to gather huge amounts of air and compresses it in his lungs. The air is then released through a slit on the horn of his head, causing it to become as sharp as a razor blade. The wind flails about much like a whip and is sharp enough to cut through stone. However, due to the scraping and heat led by the quick wind compression, the technique slowly tears apart Wamuu's body until he collapses. Wamuu was born around 10,000 BC, and is a member of the race known as the Pillar Men. After Kars' rampage and mass slaughter of the Pillar Men, Wamuu, along with Santana, would be taken up as an infant and trained by Kars and Esidisi. Wamuu would accompany his masters to the old world to find a flawless Red Stone of Aja, their search taking them to Rome where they battled Ripple users before entering a hibernation state under the Roman Colosseum. The wall that he and his masters embedded themselves in was booby trapped to impale potential prey for nourishment as seen with Mario Zeppeli. ESIDISI: Esidisi's appearance is that of a tall, dark skinned, and very well-built man. He has light hair, protruding in a bouffant tuft from under a tall headpiece. A dark painted or tattooed X mark spans his face, joined at the bridge of his nose, touching the middle of his forehead and jaw. He commonly wears a nose ring in his right nostril, and great, thick hoop earrings. His brow rests in a sinister scowl. During his fight with Joseph, his top is bare save for leather-like patches stitched to his skin at his shoulders and chest. like Wamuu and Kars, Esidisi is very confident in his powers and abilities and sees humans as inferior. He is particularly smug towards Joseph and enjoyed outwitting the human. Despite this, Esidisi is very affable and acts calm a majority of the time, tranquilly assessing the situation before taking action. Esidisi never loses sight of his goal, and will always act to get the Red Stone of Aja. But he has a dangerous temper so he tends to emotionally break down as a calming mechanism, the abrupt tantrum and sobbing also serving as an Flame Mode Using Flame Mode, Esidisi is able to raise his body temperature in order to heat his blood up to 500 degrees Celsius, then hurl it out melting anything the blood touches. In the anime, it is called the "Heat Mode" (熱の流法モード Netsu no Mōdo). Erratic Blaze King Mode After entering his Flame Mode, Esidisi extends his blood vessels out of his body and makes them into long, prehensile needles with which he injects his boiling blood into enemies. Erratic Blaze King's Giant Cartwheel Prison (怪焔王大車獄 Kaiennō Daishagoku): After creating several holes in his back, Esidisi makes a huge spinning jump, while extending his blood vessels out of the newly created holes, similar to a hedgehog's spines. He then attacks using his blood vessels to surround his enemies, giving them little room to escape. Self Detonation: As a last resort, Esidisi is able to detonate his own body, in order to cover a wide area with his boiling blood and kill a big group of enemies. Presumably, not even Esidisi himself can survive after performing this attack. Body Manipulation: Like other Pillar Men, Esidisi can freely manipulate his body structure. When his body was destroyed, he was able to alter his brain and nervous system to continue thriving as a parasitic organism that can possess a human body. sidisi is a member of the race known as the Pillar Men. One of the few to not object to Kars' ideals, he was spared from their clan's genocide and became right hand man to Kars. Esidisi accompanied Kars to the old world to find a flawless Red Stone of Aja, briefly ending up in China before his group's search brought them to Rome. There, the Pillar Men battled Ripple users before entering a hibernation state under the Roman Colosseum. The wall that Esidisi and the others embedded themselves in was booby trapped to impale potential prey for nourishment as seen with Mario Zeppeli. At some point, the Nazi learn of the Pillar Men and made attempts to study them before deeming them a threat to the rising Third Reich. SANTANA: Santana looks like a tall and muscular man possessing long, fair hair and two small horns at the top of his head. His only clothing is a small loincloth. He has a painted or tattooed symbol on his right lower eyelid shaped like a gear. Santana was born about 8,000 BC (10,000 years ago). Santana had originally lived in Mexico with the other Pillar Men. After Kars' rampage and slaughter of the Pillar Man race, the child Santana, along with Wamuu, were adopted and trained by Kars and Esidisi. He was later left behind in Mexico by Kars, who deemed him only useful as a guard dog, while he and the others left for the old world to find a flawless Red Stone of Aja.[2] As a result, Santana would be unaware of the energy called Ripple which the other Pillar Men learned and developed defenses against. Eventually, claiming that it is because he used too much power, Santana entered a deep rest by fusing himself into a pillar within a temple that was one of the proponents for Kars' Stone Mask project.
