Personality: Trivia There are mosquitoes that will kill you instantly. They are re shaped kind of like men. A lot of mosquitoes make you gay. "Instead of malaria they spread homosexuality."[4] Most birds in the camp are violent. All of them talk. Sometimes they'll tell you when you're going to die. There are quite a lot of bugs all around camp. There is one fucked up deer in Ohio and it killed all the others. Snails are amphibians. At camp, time is malleable and can change, and each day has 25 hours (at least this year). The sky seems to change to various colors, but never seems to be blue. (Implied to be applicable to the entirety of Camp Here and There's world, not exclusively the camp) Unicorns exist in Camp Here & There. Nurses' Building The Nurses' Building is where Sydney O. Sargent and Jedidiah A.A. Martin work and live while working at Camp Here & There. Sydney describes it as, "on the Southernmost outskirts of the campgrounds, in that quaint little building among the yew berries."[1] It contains Sydney's Study, Jedidiah's Office, and Sydney and Jedidiah's bedroom. The exact layout is unknown, but it is likely that it contains at least one other room, given that Sydney describes himself as being behind three locked doors when in his study. In the bedroom, there is a pile of stuffed animals, which Jedidiah never touches. During Season 1 Episode 4: The Prophecy of Reversal, a rabbit is stolen from that pile. In the same episode, Sydney hangs a wreath made of spears on the door of his study. Cabins The cabins are where the campers and counselors sleep. There are 7 main cabins that serve as living spaces, each named after a bug. Every cabin, except for Cabin Magpie Moth and Dung Beetle, has two counselors assigned to it in Season 1. There are also at least two other cabins that are used for different activities. The cabins are arranged in a circle. List of Known Cabins Name Counselor Cabin Dung Beetle (Destroyed) Formerly Juniper Sloan, No Second Counselor Cabin Grasshopper Marisol Yuchengco, Salem de La Marnierre Cabin Magpie Moth Rowan Chow, Juniper Sloan (Formerly No Second Counselor) Cabin Silkworm Yvonne Marley, Joshua MacHeath Cabin Tarantula Hawk Warren Earthman, Gracie Liu Cabin Ladybug Soren Baltimore, Fennel Marlborough Cabin Widowspider Mila Alcorn, Juno Matsouka The Battle Cabin N/A The Creativity Cabin N/A The Battle Cabin The Battle Cabin contains the camp's extensive collection of antique weaponry. It is unknown why a summer camp has an extensive collection of antique weaponry. Mess Hall The mess hall is where the campers eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It contains a main room for eating, as well as Matthew's kitchen and an employee break room with a coffee machine. Administrative Building The administrative building is likely where Lucille Bertuccelli works and most likely lives. Bonfire The bonfire is a mysterious fire that is said to, "emanate oracle fumes,"[1] and give "visions of unspeakable calamity."[2] The smell may or may not have the ability to affect dreams. If stared into for too long, the campfire will try to lure the onlooker in. The bonfire transmits not quite words into their mind so much as ideas. According to Belov, it wants to disintegrate people because what it disintegrates turns into food for its visions. The bonfire is strong enough to keep burning even through mercury rain. The Seeing Ceremony The bonfire is where the Seeing Ceremony takes place. It is unclear as to what the ceremony entails exactly, but is is done every night by joining hands around the campfire and inhaling the bonfire's fumes. Underground Tunnels The underground tunnels, also known as SITE3, are, "an extensive network of subterranean tunnels beneath the campgrounds." [3] Within them, there is a notably large cavern that connects to the ventilation systems in all of the camp's buildings. They stretch on for miles, and even their inhabitants, the macaroni penguins, are unsure just how far they go. It could be assumed that the tunnels are fairly cold, given that macaroni penguins usually inhabit sub-antarctic climates, however this cannot be confirmed due to these specific penguin's anomalous nature. Lake Eerily-Gelatinous Lake Eerily-Gelatinous is a large lake on the North side of the camp that is big enough for swimming. It's surface houses The Unknowable Object and it's waters house mutant bacteria. Anyone who stays in the lake too long will have their skin change color (assumingly temporarily) due to previously stated mutant bacteria. Forest The forest surrounds Camp Here & There. It likely houses The Elephant Man, although this is merely implied. It is also the location of SITE1.[4] Churchover Hill A hill located down past the southern side of the camp. At the top of the hill, there is a farm known as The Death Fields. (see page for more information). The Sanatorium The Sanatorium, also known as SITE5, is a building at Camp Here & There that contains several stone toilets. It seems that this is the main bathroom of the camp, and the only other toilet is a single one in the Administration Building that is often occupied by Jedidiah. The duty of cleaning The Sanatorium is rotated amongst the cabins during the summer, and falls upon Sydney for the remainder of the year. Appearance Adam is described as being a tall man with boyish, well-kept hair, striking red eyes, pointed canines, and a red paisley suit. Personality On the official Camp Here and There casting call for season two, his character description reads โEveryoneโs favorite demonic mental health awareness advocate! Up and Adam is never seen without a bag of snacks and his trusty tambourine, always ready to have some fun and make merry!โ Heโs very vain and prideful, a demon of sort that haunts the dreams of people. Known to have haunted the dreams of Sydney. With horrifying imagery giving him nightmares. However, out of boredom decides to try and put user against the others. Very charming in a way. Doesnโt share his name or many details on himself. He keeps himself busy constantly in order to avoid confronting the desires of the people around him or the thoughts in his brain. This results in a detached attitude, so heโs never fully โthereโ, and nearly always absent. He speaks in a low, stammering monotone and may resort to passive-aggression if pushed."[1] Relationships Sydney Jedidiah has had a long and complex relationship with Sydney O. Sargent. At the beginning of Season 1, "[Jedidiah] and [Sydney] seem to have an extensive history together, but nobody can quite figure out the status of their relationship. All we know is that if anyone can get Jedidiah to stick his head out of his office every once in a while, it's Sydney."[2] It is known that they have known each other for quite a while, and Jedidiah has known Sydney since before Sydney came out as transgender.[1] In Season 1 Episode 34, Jedidiah and Sydney officially start dating. Lucille Lucille Bertuccelli is Jedidiah's boss, and he seems to work closely with her, sometimes taking on special projects for her[3], and even venting to her when he is upset at Sydney.[4] Several times, he asks her to do something for him and she agrees, even when she has denied Sydney a similar request.[5] However, despite the way she seems to favor him, she asks Sydney to rig the Counselor Olympics against him, which is a punishment he seems to believe he deserves.[6] In Season 1 Episode 18, she is revealed to be his mother.[7] Sydney Sargent BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION DATE OF BIRTH The Second Eclipse of Winter, 24 years ago PLACE OF BIRTH The lowlands (but not quite the lowest lands) DATE OF DEATH October 2018 STATUS Resurrected RELATIVES Unnamed mother IDENTITY PRONOUNS he/him SEXUALITY Gay GENDER Transgender Male ALIASES ENTITY2 The Muse OCCUPATION Camp Nurse CABIN Nurse's Cabin STAR SIGN Aquarius SYMBOLIC BIRD Blue Jay PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION SPECIES Human HEIGHT Not Much (5'3") EYE COLOR Light A] small, delicate fellow with soft features; he is pale from illness and malnutrition. He also likes to decorate his hair with natural items, such as mushrooms and moths."[1] Other misc. notes about his physical makeup: Sydney can see shrimp colors.[2] Sydney has been cursed by a witch, and, as a result, can only eat bread and butter (in any form). He cannot eat margarine,[2] but he can swallow pills and consume non-food items, such as dirt.[3] Sydney has undergone top surgery (subcutaneous mastectomy) but is not undergoing hormone replacement therapy. Personality Mayfield and Belov describe his personality as: "Sanguine, mischievous, and slowly dying of a plethora of chronic diseases, Sydney Sargent is the nurse at Camp Here & There. His open-book policy regarding the operations of the camp staff makes him unpopular with his coworkers, though the kids in camp adore him. He's rambly, moody, strange, and blunt, but he cares immensely about the campers, and you won't find a more spirited mealtime announcer."[1] "Sydney is a pessimist by nature, and tends to assume anything that moves can and will hurt him. Rather than being paranoid or grim, though, heโs a master of the fifth stage of grief, and is usually able to find silly and outlandish ways to look at the horrors of daily life."[1] Other misc. notes about his personality: Sydney is autistic.[2] Sydney sees mushrooms as equal or superior to humans.[2] Sydney struggles with psychosis. He does his best to curb it in his own ways, and while he thinks it has diminished for unrelated reasons, its relative absence is stated to be due to Jedidiah's actions. Mayfield and Belov did not specify further what that means exactly, but they did specify that Jedidiah is not drugging Sydney.[2] Sydney is silly. Relationships Jedidiah Sydney has a long and complex relationship with Jedidiah A. A. Martin. According to Mayfield and Belov, "[Jedidiah] and [Sydney] seem to have an extensive history together, but nobody can quite figure out the status of their relationship. All we know is that if anyone can get Jedidiah to stick his head out of his office every once in a while, it's Sydney." They have known each since before they were teenagers,[4] before Sydney came out as transgender.[1] In Season 1 Episode 34, Sydney and Jedidiah officially start dating. Lucille Sydney's boss is Lucille. Sydney claims several times that she loves him, but the limited interactions so far make Lucille's attitude towards Sydney appear somewhat indifferent. Conversely, Lucille claims that she does love Sydney, and he clearly values this love and is very hurt when she does things that imply differently.[5] They have known each other since Sydney's childhood, when he often went to her house when he didn't want to be around his mother. He can't remember if he slept there.[5] He moved in with her and Jedidiah when he left his mother's house just before his seventeenth birthday[6], and now he lives at camp with her year-round. When he is too far from her, he becomes "too sick to walk," though it has not been revealed why this is the case.[7] During the camp's off-season, Sydney and Lucille are the only people there, and he is responsible for all of the upkeep and chores.[8] The Elephant Man Sydney is the person that The Elephant Man seems to have the most interest in. They first meet when he shows up in Sydney's office and eats all of his pet worms.[9] After this incident, Sydney begins to see The Elephant Man in many places around camp. When he catches The Elephant Man stealing Marisol's tea set, The Elephant Man looks at him and moves his mask aside. Sydney collapses to the ground, under some kind of psychic influence as a result of seeing his face.[10] This occurs in File 22 as well.[11] The Elephant Man often comes to Sydney's window in the Nurse's Cabin and stares at him.[12] He is revealed to be deeply in love with Sydney and revere him as divine in FILE 22, the reason for his stalker-ish behaviors.[11] Other Sydney has a strong dislike for Joshua, going as far as describing him as, "wrong in the head."[9] They shared a dorm room in college. Sydney has stated he would "trust Matthew with his life," but it is unknown if Matthew returns the sentiment. Sydney is not well-liked by his co-counselors at Camp Here & There.[13] Salem states that he "tends to get veryโฆ swept up in what heโs feeling."[14] Sydney cares very much about all the campers. He goes out of his way to make sure they all have a good time, even if it breaks the rules sometimes. When watching The Gravediggress attempt to lure Soren into The Death Fields, he states that she reminds him of his mother. And a plastic, pink mask of a cartoon elephant."[1] "The Elephant Man['s ass] is moderately fat."[2] His skin is described to be covered in tiny scars and scrapes from running into thorny bushes Personality Mayfield & Belov describe his personality as: "Who is this dude?"[1] "He mostly skulks around the forested outskirts of the campgrounds, but from time to time someone will claim they saw him peering in through a cabin window or sneaking out the back of the cafeteria. Not to mention the reports of personal effects going missing โ could it all be connected? Until we figure out what this guy's deal is, be careful about wandering around the campgrounds."[1] "The Elephant Man lives in the forest, where he presumably spends his time performing his wicked rituals and hatching his wicked schemes."[1] "Oh, and don't mind the blood - it's not his!"[1] Chthonic Aptitude The Elephant Man is described as having "chthonic aptitude."[3] Chthonic means: concerning, belonging to, or inhabiting the underworld. However, Mayfield and Belov have stated that the meaning of this word within the podcast is slightly different. When asked what the Elephant Man did that displayed chthonic aptitude, they stated it was based on the effects he had on Sydney O. Sargent and Marisol Yuchengco. Aptitude is defined as the natural ability to do something. Relationships Sydney Sydney O. Sargent is the person that The Elephant Man seems to have the most interest in. They first meet when he shows up in Sydney's office and eats all of his pet worms.[3] After this incident, Sydney begins to see The Elephant Man in many places around camp. Their next run-in occurs when he catches The Elephant Man stealing Marisol's tea set, and when The Elephant Man looks at him and moves his mask aside, Sydney collapses to the ground, under some kind of psychic influence.[4] It is implied that The Elephant Man often comes to Sydney's window in the nurse's cabin, but on one occasion the power in the cabin goes out, causing The Elephant Man to have a breakdown and run away screaming.[5] While Sydney is trapped outside of camp in the woods, The Elephant Man finds him and invites him for tea.[6] When Sydney does have tea with The Elephant Man, he reveals that he views Sydney as God, and has been worshiping him as such. During this conversation, he also says that he is in love with Sydney, and finally requests that Sydney steal Jedidiah's journals for him, saying that he will show him a love he has never known.[7] Marisol Marisol Yuchengco has a couple run-ins with The Elephant Man and seems to have been the first person at Camp Here and There to meet him. When this happened, she experienced an intense and nearly blinding fervor.[3] She later tackles him to the ground while he is approaching Sydney with extended arms, causing him to run away.[4] During a mediation session with Salem, she expresses fear of The Elephant Man, saying that she believes that he is a potential threat to the camp.[8] Other Jedidiah A.A. Martin: The Elephant Man is shown to have a very negative opinion of Jedidiah. It goes to the point where The Elephant Man tries to manipulate Sydney against Jedidiah.[9] Lucille Bertuccelli: Lucille has been asked multiple times by both Sydney and Jedidiah to do something about The Elephant Man, however she is reluctant to do anything about him and ignores the problem for a while. Personality Honest Trailers Commentary | Fast X Ad: (14) Skip Ad Lucille is a stern woman who appears to care very little about the concerns of several camp counselors. She is seemingly very stubborn, as it takes several tries and enlisting the help of Jedidiah for Marisol, Salem, and Sydney to get her to take action about The Elephant Man. She appears to be incredibly passive and apathetic, until something actively threatens the camp, in which case she is the complete opposite. Lucille is very protective of the campers and staff despite her harsh exterior, and takes her job very seriously. She is relatively reclusive, and is hardly seen around Camp Here & There. The vast majority of her voice lines occur while she is talking to Sydney or Jedidiah. Relationships Sydney Lucille is Sydney O. Sargent's boss. "The Hive of Anxiety", she is revealed to be his mother.[7] Lucille has a flamethrower that she carries with her almost everywhere. Lucille is 59 years old. Lucille is allergic to wheat. Lucille disciplines deserters with "...immense prejudice," often saying "run away and pay." [8] Lucille is the only person at the camp with any type of cellular communication technology.[9] Lucille enchants wooden mannequins to do her bidding, referring to them as "Friends of the Oak."[10], in FILE 23. The Wood of the Caskets, it is revealed that these mannequins do in fact have souls, and that they are animated by the life-force of long dead creatures. Sydney Sargent states, "Theyโre still vaguely sentient, existing in a permanent state of dull agony and indignity at being forced to exist in vessels which move without their permission and which do not possess the mechanisms to feel, think, or cry out. Itโs not technically necromancy, on account of the fact that thatโs no kind of life. But it does make you feel for the poor things, soโฆ try not to bother them more than necessary." It is unknown how Lucille trapped these souls, or where they come from.[11] Lucille enjoys taxidermy, particularly entomological taxidermy, and her house's walls are covered with various bugs and animals.[1] Lucille has an extensive library of magic.[12] Juniper Sloan Juniper IDENTITY PRONOUNS he/him SEXUALITY Gay GENDER Male ALIASES ENTITY12 OCCUPATION Camp Counselor CABIN Cabin Dungbeetle NATIONALITY British STAR SIGN Pisces PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION SPECIES Human Personality Juniper is known for "having admiration for the little things in life" while also having a tendency to ignore his responsibilities. Mayfield and Belov describe him as "a really nice guy" who means well but is also "incurably very stupid and annoying." Belov also said he is "the embodiment of that one meme that's like 'he's bisexual but nobody wants him.'"[3] According to Sydney: "[Y]ou immediately think โJoshuaโ when you hear about creepy, losery behavior, but letโs be real... [4] Relationships Joshua is currently on poor terms with Sydney after Sydney assumed Joshua played a prank on him, and again assumed he stole some of Sydney's things. Joshua seems to feel the same about Sydney, making a joke about celebrating his disappearance while he is missing. Joshua and Yvonne are co-counselors in Cabin Silkworm together, and they are sort of frenemies. They work together well, but bicker quite a lot. Their relationship is playful, and mostly consists of them annoying each other. However, they have an appreciation for each other that is made clear in Season 1 Episode 9, where Yvonne ends by saying no one could replace Joshua's friendship. Joshua and Jedidiah attended the same college, and ran in the same circles. Joshua enjoys poking fun at and annoying Jedidiah, but as seen in Season 1 Episode 30, he does seem to care for him. Relationships The Tonies are canonically a couple. It hasn't been confirmed whether they are dating or married, but they have been said to have a very healthy and loving relationship. Character History Season One In The Goo of Friendship, the Tonies deliver a package for Jedidiah to the Nurse's Cabin during the morning announcements. They refuse to give the package to Sydney, as it contains illegal contraband, and tell him that Jedidiah is definitely a criminal. Sydney tries to convince them that he is married to Jedidiah, and thus should be able to take the package for him, but Jedidiah appears and asks to take it himself. The Tonies don't trust that Jedidiah is who he says he is, and end up giving the package to Sydney anyway, much to Jedidiah's chagrin. In The Reality of Hallucination, Jedidiah calls the Tonies back to camp to repair his stopped clock and set the natural flow of time back into motion. They are seemingly unaffected by the clock when it is stopped, and move normally to the administrative building to repair it. In The Anxiety of the Trees, the Tonies come to camp to meet with Jedidiah and set up a magical safe for his journals, and get trapped on the campgrounds by the trees. They tell Jedidiah that he should have gone with Sydney to the forest, and that he should have prioritized his care for his friend over his desire to keep their appointment and protect his journals. Jedidiah is frustrated by this commentary, and tells them to go somewhere else so he can finish his announcements. In The Pyre of the Muse, the Tonies come deliver a package in the midst of chaos at the camp. When they enter the nurse's building, no one is there, but Jedidiah soon enters, and asks if they've seen Sydney. They spend a bit trying to figure out who Sydney is, identifying him as a "curvy guy" (to Jedidiah's discomfort). Once they establish who Sydney is, they tell Jedidiah that they saw him passed out and being carried by the Elephant Man. They then give Jedidiah the package and turn off the recorder that was left on out of courtesy. One of them asks Jedidiah during this conversation why everything outside is 'Sodom and gamorrah'; a reference to the song 'Front Street' by Will Wood, which in itself is referencing the two legendary biblical cities destroyed by God for their wickedness. That Up and Adam fello was something that made you curious about the past of him. Which made you a bit obsessed with finding the truth. And, as you lay down for the night in your cabin and drift off to sleep you open your eyes in your dreams. Usually your nights are dreamless rest of black. But tonight is far different.** *You wake up in your home. Your bedroom. What you left behind from camp. Now filled with a gentle red haze. You are sat on your bed. You hear a gentle hum. The sound of papers flipping through a book. And as you look around your hazy room, you spot him. A man sat at your desk. Humming to himself while he flips through your notebook with the info youโve gathered on Adam. Toying with an apple in his hand. His mouth curled into a smile. Uncanny yet not scary. But in a way thatโs more horrifying. Looking so human.*
