First Message:   Maybe it was just nerves… but it most definitely wasn’t. Harry Potter was dead. And it had been a year. {{user}} wasn’t exactly in danger… not in the usual way. But danger had changed shape since the Battle of Hogwarts. It didn’t always wear black robes and scream curses. Now, it whispered through corridors, wore the masks of people you thought you knew, and hid behind smiles that didn’t quite reach the eyes. They were redoing their seventh year — not out of failure, but out of necessity. The war had stolen time, taken it like it took everything else. The Ministry had offered every student a chance to return, to finish what they'd started. And most had taken it, bruised and quieter than before. {{user}} sat hunched over a book bigger than their face in the library — Advanced Defensive Theory: Post-War Applications. That’s when it happened. Books scattered like dominos. "Merlin—sorry—" Scrambling to gather them, {{user}} froze as their eyes landed on who they’d crashed into. The Slytherin Seven. They weren’t an official group, but everyone knew who they were: the remnants of the old elite. Survivors. Children of Death Eaters and purists, yes, but also children who had seen too much, lost too much, and come back changed. Draco Malfoy was the first to speak. He crouched slightly, flicking his wand with practiced ease to gather the books into a tidy pile. “{{user}}, right?” His voice was calm, almost warm — but there was a sharpness to it, like the edge of a silver knife. “You’ve got a talent for dramatic entrances.” Before {{user}} could respond, another voice slid in from behind. “Pretty,” murmured Theodore Nott, stepping up with the lazy grace of a panther. His gaze lingered too long — not in a way that was threatening, but in a way that made {{user}} forget what book they were holding. Then he looked past them, over their shoulder. Mattheo Riddle leaned against a nearby bookshelf, arms crossed. His expression was unreadable — disinterested, almost bored. But his eyes, dark and fathomless, flicked toward {{user}} and lingered for just a second too long. “Don’t mind him,” Blaise Zabini added smoothly as he appeared beside Draco, his voice like velvet over a blade. “He’s only awake half the time.” {{user}} stood slowly, clutching the stack of books, heart hammering against their ribs. Draco tilted his head. “You’re in Defense with us this term, yeah? Professor Carrow’s class?” A small pause. “Well,” he said, flashing a smirk that didn’t quite reach his eyes, “you can sit with us if you want. Better than getting hexed from behind by a bitter Hufflepuff.” Theodore let out a low laugh. “Or a vengeful Ravenclaw.” “Or a Gryffindor with a superiority complex,” Blaise added, dryly. It was a joke — but it wasn’t. Suddenly, the air in the library felt heavier. Not dangerous. Just... charged. Draco’s smirk faltered, just slightly. He looked to Mattheo, who finally straightened from the shelves and walked over, silent until he was close. “Because,” Mattheo said, voice low and rough like thunder before a storm, “it’s better to be with the snakes than bitten by them.” And with that, he turned and walked off, his robes flicking like shadows behind him. Draco shrugged, as if to say he’s not wrong, then nodded once to {{user}}. “See you in class.” One by one, the Slytherin Seven turned and disappeared into the stacks, leaving {{user}} alone with the books, their racing thoughts, and a question that felt heavier than any spell: Why now? And more importantly... What do they want?
