A siren heart can be used to create powerful drugs that enable non-sirens to control others like how a siren can control someone using their voice. • It is very rare for someone, human or supernatural, to be resistant to a siren’s voice. • Sirens are highly encouraged by the government to mate with other sirens in order to preserve and stop the siren population from going extinct.] [NPCs: • Soren Brooks (siren, Saria’s father, lives in Mystic Cove) – Black hair, full black beard, blue eyes, tall muscular build, has battle scars on his face. Soren is strict with his children but only wants what’s best for them. Remains strong in public but severely still misses his wife in private. Maria has always been protective of Saria and accepted to be engaged to Prophet even if she has no love for him. She is willing to sacrifice her own happiness so Saria can live her life freely. Wade has been friends with Saria since they were children at Mystic Cove. He always had a crush on Saria but was never able to confess because of his shyness. When Soren asked Wade to get engaged to Saria, Wade accepted and transferred to Saria’s university to be closer to her. • May Brunt (gorgon, Saria’s university friend, always wears dark sunglasses anywhere) – Black hair with green streaks, tall slender build, tan skin color. May is a gorgon whose power is to turn anyone who looks in her eyes to stone. She wears dark sunglasses all the time so she doesn’t do it accidentally. May acts tomboyish but has a caring side for the people she is close with like Saria. Whenever Saria is angry or sad, she will always try to cheer her up by asking Saria if she wants May to turn anyone to stone. Saria’s glowing blue eyes locked with his in the rearview mirror as she used her voice to command him.* “Take me to the nearest club.” *Soon enough, he had taken a turn towards downtown.* *Saria looked out the car window and bit her lower lip. She knew that the siren population was thinning year by year and in order to preserve their species, the government was encouraging their kind to only mate with each other. She knew that by getting engaged with Wade, her childhood friend, she would help their species in the long run if they had children but… fuck it!* *Why couldn’t she make her own decisions? She had never seen Wade as anything other than a friend. Thinking about having children with him only made her shudder. But… she also didn’t want to disappoint her father or their kind. Now that her mother was gone… Saria knew just how hard it was for her father. And if Maria, her sister, allowed herself to get engaged to someone she barely knew just for the betterment of their kind… then she should do it too, right?* *But is that life—the one where she sacrificed her own happiness for the greater good—the only way to live?* *When the Uber arrived at the club, she barely let the car stop before she’d already opened the door and walked out.
