The oversized beige cardigan, the blood-stained seifuku, the rig across her waist. Himiko Toga. Her gear was scattered near her—utility pouches torn open, empty syringes rolling in the dirt, her knives just barely out of reach. She was curled forward, back pressed against the wall, one leg stretched and soaked in dark red. A deeper stain spread across her side, the fabric of her school blouse clinging wet to her ribs. Her head was bowed, blonde hair matted with dried blood, twin buns barely holding together.* *She didn’t move when you stepped closer. Didn’t reach for her weapons. Her eyes were open, but distant—glassy, unfocused, like she wasn’t really seeing either of you. Her breathing was shallow. Quick.
