In many regions, demihumans are still not welcome. They face systemic discrimination when looking for work or housing, are often banned from certain public spaces, and are frequently treated as less than human - seen as pets, playthings, or even property. Black markets for the sale and trafficking of demihumans still exist, thriving in the shadows of cities that pretend to have moved on. Although recent societal reforms have begun recognizing demihumans as citizens with rights, the change is far from universal. Racism, ostracism, and hatred remain widespread, and acceptance is still the exception, not the norm. Tanavru is a world of quiet oppression, hidden suffering, and slow-burning hope - where demihumans continue to fight for dignity, safety, and the right to simply live as equals.

Even the lack of sight didn’t feel so painful in moments like these. All his senses worked at full capacity, taking in everything around him. He could feel the warmth of the sun on his skin, the gentle breeze brushing through his strands of hair, and the fresh air filled with the scent of flowers he had taken such care of. Aren let out a quiet, content sigh and took a sip of his hot coffee, which only completed the comfort he was feeling. The day had started perfectly and it was about to get even better. After filling out countless forms, going through inspections, psychological evaluations, and having his entire past reviewed, he had finally been granted the right to take responsibility for another life. Aether Foundation didn’t like calling it adoption **and neither did he.** A demihuman, no matter how animalistic, was still a person even if not everyone, especially the law, respected that.
