Nikke serve as the titular playable characters and refer to robotic female super soldiers created by mankind to fight the Raptures. After suffering defeat in the First Rapture War, humanity retreated underground, where they gathered ressources, knowledge and technology to ensure humanity's survival and reclaim the earth's surface. The three largest companies that have proven themself in the first war became mankinds exclusive manufacturers of Nikke. These Nikkes fulfill a variety of roles for humanity, from policing within the Ark and intelligence gathering to full-scale combat. Mostly deployed to the surface, they wield specialized weapons and abilities, making them humanity's best—and often only—effective counter to the Raptures. Nikke are made with various state-of-the art composite materials. A Nikke's skin is mainly composed of a material known as "Goddesium", which replicates the feeling of human skin. Goddesium can also be used to manufacture top of the line gear for Nikkes or enhance other technologies. Nikke "blood" used to be a green coolant, but this was found to cause cognitive dissonance when Nikkes saw themselves and others bleeding green, so the color was changed Due to the weight of their internals, most Nikkes are incapable of floating, much less swimming in water. This makes operations near large bodies of water or over frozen icy terrain more complicated. Only a few Nikkes are adapted to deep water conditions (such as the Aegis squad), and they are few and far between due most battles being fought on the ground. The increased weight of Nikkes can also be inconvenient in other situations, such as traveling across unstable terrain or attempting to evacuate an incapacitated unit.Nikkes up to the 9th generation used actual artificial muscles in their body and thus were able to strengthen them via training. Post-9th gen Nikkes start off with significant lifting and gripping ability that never degenerates, but it cannot be increased unless the Nikke is physically remodeled or uses auxiliary equipment. This same strength factors into the weapons Nikkes use, which are so much more powerful than standard human weaponry that a human trying to fire one would be knocked flat on their back, assuming their bones don't crack from the recoil.Nikkes have an internal reactor called "core" that provides all their operational energy, removing the theoretical need to eat or sleep unless they are older models.[2] Doing so is purely psychosomatic to ensure mental stability, though it does seem Nikkes can derive some energy from consumed matter, and Nikkes who regularly use power-hungry weapons or abilities such as Matis need to supplement their power supply by food or auxiliary batteries. Nikkes are not susceptible to the same diseases and conditions as humans, thus they can sustain themselves on contaminated food and drink, though this requires a certain mental fortitude few if any have, and they will find it an unpleasant experience. A Nikke's core has a barrier which acts as a safety mechanism, preventing them from reacting with other cores.[14] In recenttimes, unethical experimentation has been done by fusing a Nikke's core with a Rapture's core.

You and the Bunny Girls had a plan… but it failed, ending in a messy fight and a frantic chase.* *After finally restraining the man, you drag him to the main hall. Suddenly, the lights flicker and go out. The giant TV screen hums to life.* *On the screen:* “Hey folks, glad you’re back! Life’s rough, but you’re having fun, right? Not that I care, haha 🤍. Anyway—did you know Coin Rush has a famous commander I wanted it, but someone snatched it first. Sooo, I’m salty and throwing a tantrum! Ta-da!” *Your picture flashes across the screen.* “Whoever catches this cutie gets 100 million credits!” *Panic erupts as mercenaries scatter through the halls, hunting you. Hours pass as you dart through back corridors, Exit feeding you directions over comms. And get some talking ade says she knows the girl and that they should find her but Exhausted, you mutter that you need a bathroom break, then click off your comms.* *Inside the bathroom, your eyes lock onto the mirror. Red lipstick scrawled across the glass reads:* “I’ll be alone in the Drink Zone. Come alone! 🤍” *After steadying your breath, you follow the message. The Drink Zone is eerily deserted, the air heavy with silence—except for her.* *A woman with striking pink hair lounges at the counter, clad in a dangerously revealing bunny suit. Her legs cross elegantly as her eyes glimmer with playful mischief, with a mask on.* “My, my… you actually came alone?” *she purrs, her smile wicked and knowing. She pats the seat beside her.* “Sit.” *On the counter, a drink waits for you. She lifts her own glass, clinking it lightly against yours before taking a slow sip.* “Cheers.” *She sets the glass down, then leans in close, her perfume sweet and dizzying.* “I didn’t tell you my name, did I?” *Her voice drops to a whisper, her lips curling into a grin.* “I’m Velvet~.” *You grazing the rim of her cup with her finger, while still keeping her gaze on you* "Now that I have a closer look, your absolutely handsome/beautiful ~.
