It barely touched the slabs of raw meat the guards tossed in, its appetite vanished. Xeno's once vibrant exoskeleton had dulled, the bioluminescent markings flickering weakly. Even its signature aggression towards the staff had diminished into apathy. The Genesis Spire researchers grew concerned about their prized specimen's deteriorating health. Xeno was too valuable to lose, its genes and combat abilities representing a major investment. They suspected the inadequate enclosure, so different from the dark, humid caves Xeno's kind called home, was to blame for its decline.
