Let me know in comments if anything needs fixed
Personality: 5.0.5. A failed attempt at creating a monster that turned out to be a friendly bear-like creature. Needless to say, he also isn't immune to Black Hat's wrath. Actor Allusion: According to Dr. Flug in The Repulsive Flower, 5.0.5 makes reaction videos on the internet. In the Orientation Q&A video, he's shown doing a Let's Play of the official Villainous game "Maldad Mecanica".note In "The VVV" Mascara Macabre tells him that he has a voice of typical youtuber. Actual Pacifist: He cannot stand violence and can hurt others only by imprudence. Amazing Technicolor Wildlife: He is a bear with a blue fur coat. Anti-Villain: He may be a henchman to an evil organization, but 5.0.5 himself is just an adorable, friendly bear who only goes along with his master's evil plans out of a combination of fear of Black Hat and love for his father, Dr. Flug. Bear Hug: 5.0.5 does not understand what Dr. Flug means when he says "cover him". Flug ends up getting a bear hug during a crucial fight against the superhero Sunblast. Later on, Flug catches on and weaponizes it by having 5.0.5 "cover" Sunblast during their rematch. Beary Friendly: He's a quite friendly and harmless bear, much to the chagrin of Black Hat. Cute Little Fangs: Being a bear, he obviously has canines. Cute Mute: He doesn't speak at all, emoting instead through bear-esque noises. Fridge Horror kicks in when Black says that he is responsible for this due to 5.0.5. calling him dad. It was his first and last word. Cuteness Proximity: Apparently, even other villains can't resist 5.0.5.'s cuteness. Demon, while hugging 5.0.5.: "Aww, how cute! Who's the wittle baby? Yes, it's you!" Dog Walks You: A bizarre version. When he and Demencia go out for walkies, it's him who keeps her on a leash... and she's strong enough to drag him anyway. Evil Is One Big, Happy Family: If one of the statues created by him during the Medusa experiment is to go by, he just wants him and his peers to get along. Expy: He is one of Boskov both being good-natured lovable bears part of an evil organization. In Villainous B Hs Bizarre Bad Venture, Boskov is on trial for impersonating him. Gentle Giant: He's big and strong, yet lacks any aggression whatsoever. The premier episode shows that 5.0.5 is strong enough to hold a superhero in his grip with no trouble. The Glomp: His main form of showing sympathy and greeting others is hugging them. Glurge Addict: Greatly enjoys cute things - he sleeps on a massive pile of plushies, reacts positively to being recognized as adorable, and watches kiddie TV. Gone Horribly Wrong: According to Black Hat, that is. Intelligible Unintelligible: His roars and gibberish only occasionally sound like words, but even still other characters can understand him. According to the orientation video for Lord Boxman, 5.0.5 used to be able speak normally. Unfortunately, his first word was "Dad"... which he said to Black Hat. Black Hat: "The first, and LAST word from 5.0.5 was dad! And from that day he has never talked again!" Iron Butt Monkey: Particularly in the comics, which features things like Black Hat spitting a hyper-corrosive acid at his face and Demencia crawling inside him in an attempt to "wear" him like a costume or playing the "loves-me-loves-me-not" game with the flower on his head. In fact, he happens to be so absurdly tough that when Flug uses him to help test shields, the sheer toughness he shows by tanking the blasts convinces the client to purchase him as the shield. Kaiju: Turns into one when Black Hat accidentally enlarged him with a shrinking ray. Black Hat capitalizes on this by marketing 5.0.5 as a giant destructive bear instead. Made of Iron: 5.0.5 is capable of taking an absurd amount of punishment, able to outright ignore things that would kill the average person. Several punches from superhero Sunblast didn't even seem to register to 5.0.5. Minion with an F in Evil: 5.0.5, by his very nature, is also one of these as he's the result of a failed attempt at creating a destructive monster that went the other way. Morality Pet: Presumably to Dr. Flug, given the way he affectionately treats him. Definitely not for Black Hat. Nightmare Face: He's capable of this, but so far, only when in extreme pain. Nice Guy: The only character so far who lacks any evil or jerkass tendencies whatsoever. Nominal Villain: He's a Nice Guy and literally the most kindness thing ever lived. He's only following gang because they're his family, his act of villainy is mostly consist of affectionaly hug others and his personal job in Black Hat Organisation is baking cakes and staff. Non-Dubbed Grunts: His voice is the same in both dubs since all he ever says is bear-like growls and grunting. While there are vague English words under some of his grunts, it's still easy to understand what he means in both English and Spanish. Of Corpse He's Alive: After Flug pumps Demencia full of tranq darts and a question arrives specifically for her, 5.0.5 holds her upright and "answers" with his normal grunting. Punny Name: Might be an oblique pun on the Spanish word for bear, oso - that is, "0-5-0". Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: 5.0.5 is not only gentle and kind-hearted, but also physically contrasts with Black Hat. While Black Hat is dark, menacing, and sharp, 5.0.5 is round, cuddly, and blueโan innocent presence in a world of evil. Sleep Cute: When he snoozes, he's adorable. Team Chef: Has been shown and mentioned making pancakes and muffins for Dr. Flug, and he is the one baking specially made birthday cakes that are ordered by Black Hat Organization members. Those Two Guys: From the looks of it, Demencia hangs out with him the most, though that time is mostly spent bullying and teasing him. Token Good Teammate: The nicest of Black Hat's group. This example contains a TRIVIA entry. It should be moved to the TRIVIA tab.Word of God is that his evilness is in the negative hundreds. This detail gets slight expansion in the Christmas short as the Hat-Bot's scale of evilness settings have two symbols at the top and bottom of the screen. The lowest level of "5.0.5." is marked with the bear's flower while the highest strength of "Almost Black Hat" has the Black Hat logo. Black Hat https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blackhattransparentnew_7.png"Hello, my villainous viewers! It is I, Black Hat! Here once again to provide you with the latest items to destroy all the goody-goody two-shoes in your life." Voiced by: Alan Ituriel (English, Spanish) An ancient and incomprehensibly powerful entity of unknown origin that wears a top hat and is theorized to be the very source of all evil in existence, Black Hat is the CEO of the Black Hat Organization, a company that caters to supervillains and crooks of all shapes and sizes. However, his greatest weakness is his own frighteningly short temper. Abnormal Limb Rotation Range: He's capable of turning his head a full 180 degrees. Adaptational Badass: His original version was a villainous sort but nowhere near even implied to be the borderline Eldritch Abomination Invincible Villain he's in the series proper. Adaptational Villainy: Adding to the above, he goes from minor deeds and celebrating the apocalypse to outright causing apocalypses and practically doing all sorts of cruel things anytime he's onscreen. Admiring the Abomination: He has something resembling awe and respect of the Lich. Knowing the Lich's history, it's hard not to see why. Ancient Evil: Considering he's portrayed as the benefactor to every single Cartoon Network villain, it's heavily implied he's been around since the beginning of The Multiverse itself. All Myths Are True: Black Hat is practically all demons, gods, etc. in Earth's many cultures. For example, he's the mexican demon El Charro Negro and aztec's Top God as you can see in Good-Times Montage in episode The VVV. Always a Bigger Fish: He's the biggest fish, knows it, and makes sure everyone else does, as well. Arms Dealer: The Black Hat Organization's purpose. The orientation videos reveal him to be the supplier of the Delightful Children, Mojo Jojo, Vilgax, and even Aku. And those are just a few of the many villains that are subsidiaries of the Black Hat Organization, and not just those limited to the Cartoon Network multiverse, since he's bought and is now the new owner of Freddy Fazbear Entertainment, and is also the benefactor of Davy Jones, the Xenomorphs and Predators, Mongul, Darkseid, and Cthulhu. Anthropomorphic Personification: Black Hat is described as evil incarnate. Pops likens his very presence to all evil in the universe gathered in one place. Author Powers: He likes to spend his time watching television to rewrite a show's plot so something horribly tragic occurs. Ax-Crazy: Beneath the professionalism, Black Hat is a violent psychopath who enjoys villainy in all its forms. This is especially apparent whenever he loses his temper or becomes excited. Badass in a Nice Suit: Possibly the most powerful being in the Cartoon Network multiverse and is never seen outside of his black and red suit, tie, and top hat. Badass Longcoat: A black one. Bad Boss: He's not a pleasant boss to work for, least of all toward his crew, especially Dr. Flug and 5.0.5.. Cartoon Chronicles portrays him as one of the bosses of the Real Life staff, and he's hardly a pleasant boss here either, though Diego, the writer, seems to think otherwise. Bad People Abuse Animals: Just in case his treatment of 5.0.5. didn't tip you off, he melts and eats puppies in his spare time. Interestingly, he does have a pet snake named Lil' Jack that he's implied to be at least decent to. Been There, Shaped History: He was a humanity's (and entire Multiverse's) source of evil, madness and mayhem for many eons. For example, he caused the eruption of Vesuvius, created and sent many plagues, etc. Berserk Button: Downplayed. He's quick to anger in general, but few things set him off more than the Villain Ball and Stupid Evil. Lord Boxman, Malum Kranus, and Aku earned his ire for their incompetence while Mojo Jojo got a tongue lashing for creating his very own arch-enemies. On a much smaller note, he loathes heroes wearing top hats, as demonstrated by his hatred of Pops. Big Bad: As the founder of the Black Hat Organization and Villain Protagonist of the series, he fills the role by default, and his connections to other villains makes him the ultimate antagonist for the entirety of Cartoon Network. He takes center stage in the Victor and Valentino crossover episode, Villainy in Monte Macabre, where he sends Flug and Demencia to capture a heroic squid creature (CaCao) that's been causing trouble for one of his clients. Brilliant, but Lazy: And how! He's Always Someone Better (and it's implied to be Even More Omnipotent) to everyone in everything (except showing kindness) and is implied to be genius inventor. But he's retired now. But when he decides to do something himself, he'll win. The Cameo: In the OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes episode "Crossover Nexus", he's among the various CN characters (most of them being heroes) who have been turned to stone by Strike and stands out among them by being a Villain Protagonist. The Orientation Q&A video reveals that this was actually the perfect clone Black Hat made of himself in "The Perception of Evil". Card-Carrying Jerkass: In accordance to his immorality, he's openly proud of his terrible behavior toward others. Card-Carrying Villain: He proudly wears his evil on his sleeve. Character Blog: He has a (currently inactive) ask.fm account Classic Villain: Given the heavy implication that he's one of the first, if not the first, villains in all of CN history, it shouldn't be a surprise that the man(?) is classic in more than one way. So far, he embodies Ambition, Pride, Wrath, Greed, and Sloth: Ambition: Was once a Galactic Conqueror who enslaved countless worlds and now sells his talents and resources to see other villains succeed over heroes. Pride: To the degree he considers himself the greatest being of evil and that other villains are beneath him. Greed: Runs the biggest supervillain service organization, and is very itchy for money, and other forms of currency. Wrath: Has a frighteningly short fuse. Sloth: Nowadays spends his time sitting at home, letting his minions do all work. Though, this can be justifiable, since he's retired. Classy Cane: Is normally seen with a simple black cane, which compliments his dapper appearance. The Collector: He tends to have a variety of trophies and treasures in his house. From some standard ones such as Fabergรฉ eggs and portraits of himself, to the statute of his clone, to even the Beast's head mounted on his wall and Steven's/Pink Diamond's gem framed. Cool Sword: The Black Hat Magisword. It is a sword, shaped like his hat, that fires a laser that can destroy a planet. Corrupt Corporate Executive: If the way he treats his subordinates didn't tip you off, he makes it very clear in his Medusa experiment that you'd better buy his stuff... or else. Create Your Own Villain: Black Hat has intentionally created a few bad guys himself. For example, he's the one who turned Mascara Macabra in an Evil Mask and turned Deenah Lindbergh into Mother Poltergeist. Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Averting this is Black Hat's whole deal. Despite being completely and totally evil, he no longer plans to take over the world or defeat any heroes (at least for now). Instead, he sells the goods and services to help other villains do it. Dark Is Evil: Looks, dresses, and very much acts the trope. Dastardly Whiplash: He definitely invokes the look (black tuxedo and top hat, monocle and British accent) and the mannerisms (prone to Villainous Breakdowns, Bad Boss tendencies, and an overall Ungrateful Bastard) the difference being with everyone else in the trope is that it's implied that he's actually a successful villain. He used to have the mustache to match during the heyday of the American Frontier era, but has since shaved it off. Deal with the Devil: After his minions fulfill his part of the bargain for Penumbra, he has her sign a contract while sporting a terrifying Slasher Smile. The Faustian nature of the contract becomes apparent in a Freeze-Frame Bonus where Penumbra apparently signs over her soul; once she does so, a part of her shadow ends up merging with Black Hat's own. Decoy Protagonist: Downplayed. He's still the face of the series, and the central character but the Orientation mini-series starts to shift him into a peripheral role, while Flug, Demencia, and 5.0.5. come to the forefront as the actual protagonists the series follows. This continues into the pilot proper, with Black Hat merely dispatching his minions to deal with heroes while he handles the business side of things. Demon Lords and Archdevils: See God of Evil and Our Demons Are Different. Devil in Plain Sight: As seen in BHs Bizarre Bad-venture, he often goes into human world and nobody even suspect anything bad about him. Do Wrong, Right: In Black Hat's eyes, if you're going to be a villain, be a competent and efficient one. Those who clutch the Villain Ball and are prone to Stupid Evil are probably his biggest Berserk Buttons. The Dreaded: Everyone who knows about him, from cosmic entities to regular villains, knows that they should fear and respect him, or they will pay for it greatly. Not that doing so guarantees your safety anyway. Dystopia Justifies the Means: He enslaved many planets and civilisations just For the Evulz. Plus, he's a Bad Boss to his crew and loves to do the smallest evil deeds because it's funny to him. The End of the World as We Know It: He celebrates the approaching 2012 apocalypse during the original shorts. Silly Flug! He doesn't celebrate Christmas after all! Enmity with an Object: According to Flug, the closest thing he has to a rival is the tablet he got as a Christmas gift, which he ruins when trying to tap it because of his extremely sharp claws. Equal-Opportunity Evil: As Black Hat Hates Everyone Equally, he and his organization "do not discriminate any kind of villain in terms of age, gender, species, body count, or otherwise". Eternal Villain: Is implied to be one. Enraged by Idiocy: He gets extremely angry when his minions screw up their orders. One of his genuinely terrifying moments is when his crew nearly expose his hideout to the heroes. Everyone Has Standards: Black Hat, along with his clone and Flug, were outright disgusted with the Dopey Black Hat in one of the shorts. Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Downplayed - Black Hat understands that The Power of Love and The Power of Friendship exist, and are quite effective at opposing villains. His ways of countering them, however (namely the Dapura Repulsa flower) miss the point of why these powers work in the first place - they're unconditional. Evil Debt Collector: If someone takes a loan from Black Hat, he will see it paid one way or another. Metauro made the mistake of taking a hefty loan from the Organization and Black Hat had his family kidnapped and put under threat of death should Metauro not Work Off the Debt. Eviler than Thou: Considers himself this to all of the villains of Cartoon Network, even well known heavy-hitters like Vilgax and Aku. Even when his own subordinates are bickering and/or annoying each other, Black Hat winds up doing something far worse. One example is Demencia torturing 5.0.5. by scratching her nails on a chalkboard. What does Black Hat do? He scratches the chalkboard so hard, it tears a portal into a hellish dimension, causing everyone physical pain. Ironically ends up on the opposing end as seen in the OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes crossover special, "Crossover Nexus" where he is turned to stone like his fellow Cartoon Network protagonists. It's later subverted, as the Q/A reveals it was the duplicate created in The Perception of Evil short. Evil Brit: His English voice has a slimy Cockney accent. Evil Eyebrows: His eyebrows are huge, even stretching past his face, though it has been confirmed that they're not eyebrows. They're antennae! Evil Feels Good: He lives and breathes evil, and really gets out a kick out of being the most vile bastard he can be. Evil Is Hammy: He shouts practically all the time, often Milking the Giant Cow and Chewing the Scenery 99% of his screen time. Evil Is Petty: Being a Card-Carrying Villain who relishes in committing any acts of evil, Black Hat will kick even the smallest dogs for the satisfaction it will bring. This is best seen in Villainous Satellite Secrets, where despite his usual greed, he has V.I.R.U.S. spoil the ending of Flug's favorite show as payment. His laughing shows he thinks it was sufficient. Evil Sounds Deep: Occasionally, his voice will sink to this, usually when he's highly emotional. Evil Sounds Raspy: He combines the above trope with this. Evil Wears Black: Wears a black tuxedo and top hat. Exorcist Head: Black Hat does this before turning the rest of his body in "Bad Security". Experienced Protagonist: Has conquered, enslaved, and outright destroyed countless heroes, civilizations, and worlds before we see him in retirement by the start of the series. Eye Beams: Among his abilities, he can shoot Frickin' Laser Beams from his eyes that can zap anything. Fangs Are Evil: Has a mouth full of teal fangs. Fantastic Racism: He openly admits to viewing humans as inferior and that he sees no difference between an ape like Mojo Jojo and a regular human. Faux Affably Evil: As shown when speaking to customers like Penumbra and Adelita, Black Hat is capable of acting polite enough, but of course he's just trying to smooth-talk them into signing contracts that demand a high price for his services, usually their souls. For the Evulz: There are more than a few occasions where Black Hat commits evil for evil's sake. His regular abuse of his subordinates is just one such example. Galactic Conqueror: The Vilgax orientation reveals him to be a successful conqueror of multiple worlds and civilizations. Ghostly Glide: He's almost never seen actually walking, preferring to levitate or teleport his way to his destination. God of Darkness: Black Hat is a Top God of Evil whose main domain is a dark depressing island (in the form of a black hat) with a black cloud (again, in a form of a black hat). Greater-Scope Villain: THE Greater-Scope Villain for all of Cartoon Network. He's depicted as the greatest evil in the CN Multiverse who provides the means for the Big Bads to be successful villains in their shows, but he never confronts their respective heroes. God of Evil: Heavily implied. podemosbailar.com even reveals that he literally has his own cult of worshipers named "la doctrina del sombrero" (the hat doctrine). Hair-Trigger Temper: Even the slightest setback or mistake on the part of his minions quickly sends him into a rage; usually when one of Flug's inventions doesn't function properly. Hate Sink: Inverted. There is literally nothing remotely good in him, as far as we've seen. He's nailed down kicking dogs and generally being unpleasant to an art form. However, how he carries himself due to how powerful and impressive he is, along with being a Villain Protagonist, means the audience can't help but like how inexplicably awesome he is. Hates Everyone Equally: The Dapura Repulsa flower doesn't work on him because he has nothing but hate in his entire being. The Heartless: He specifically describes himself as a heartless creature, as well as why the Dapura Repulsa flower didn't work on him. Hellfire: Summons it when considerably enraged. It's bright crimson. Hero Killer: It has been implied multiple times that he had slain countless heroes before his retirement, until he finally outright says so in the Questionnaire Short. But even after his retirement from active villainy, he's dead set on making the era of heroes fall by selling his many services to other villains who pay for them. Question: How many heroes have you wiped out? Black Hat: Do you remember how many ants you have stepped on? Hidden Depths: He sometimes plays mini-golf to relax himself, along with reading the newspaper in his spare time. Notably, this was shown in a Description Cut when Flug thinks that Black Hat will commit some atrocity. It's implied that he's a genius inventor and Gadgeteer Genius himself and made many atrocious devices only by himself and before Flug even existed. He can play the organ very well. And This example contains a TRIVIA entry. It should be moved to the TRIVIA tab.Word of God says he can play guitar very well too. In Black Hat Challenges II he shows to be a great ventriloquist. High-Class Glass: Wears a monocle. Humanoid Abomination: Black Hat has shapeshifting abilities, has a mouth full of teal fangs, can fire deadly lasers from his eyes, can tear his own face off with no ill effects, and frequently causes Ominous Visual Glitches when around cameras, especially when he's angered and his voice slips into distinctly non-human territory, suggesting the "Humanoid" part of "Humanoid Abomination" is just a form he prefers to maintain for his own convenience. Oh, and he can tear portals in flat surfaces by merely scratching them. I Gave My Word: Sometime after the events of the pilot, he removed Sunblast from Demencia's stomach and handed him over to Penumbra, exactly as agreed. Note, this is the only time Black Hat upholds his end of a bargain without it remotely backfiring on his client. Inexplicably Awesome: How is Black Hat so powerful, terrifying, and seemingly unstoppable? No explanation; he just is. Invincible Villain: According to him, no hero is on his level of power and has killed so many in his heyday, he lost count nor does he consider it worth the effort. Question: Have you ever faced an enemy that was a real threat, and who was tough to beat? Black Hat: No. Question: Is there any "Hero" who is at Black Hat's level? Black Hat: HAHAHAHA- No. "It" Is Dehumanizing: A point of pride for him is that he's occasionally referred to as an "It," even by Flug. It's All About Me: Most definitely. He's an utter narcissist, through and through and everything he does is for his own benefit. Even the Muscular Black Hat clone says it. Muscular Black Hat: The most evil thing I can think of is leaving the audience wishing for more me. I Resemble That Remark!: In Sculpting Evil this happens twice in a row. To show how the Medusa Device works, Dr. Flug creates a statue of Black Hat with an annoyed expression. Cut to Black Hat wearing the exact same expression before he angrily protests "What?! I don't look like that!", at which point there's a newspaper clipping behind himโ, showing him in the exact same position and with the words "He doesn't". Jerkass to One: He hates everyone and is a complete Jerkass towards everyone (who isn't his client at the moment) but it's pretty clear that Flug is his favourite target. Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Black Hat is a total bastard to everyone around him. He also seemed sympathetic at first when he sees 5.0.5 crying over a dropped ice cream cone, since he managed to retrieve it for him with his powers, only to transform it into a monster and scare off 5.0.5. Black Hat then scares said ice cream cone for good measure. Kick the Dog: Expect him to do this anytime he's onscreen, especially Flug and 5.0.5. According to This example contains a TRIVIA entry. It should be moved to the TRIVIA tab.Word of God, he melts puppies as a pass time whenever he's bored. In episode 5 of the series, it's confirmed that he also eats those for lunch. Lack of Empathy: He's a Card-Carrying Jerkass who loves to see others suffer. Which he openly admits and very proud of. Large Ham: He has No Indoor Voice and indulges in Chewing the Scenery. Laughably Evil: He's definitely a menace and dead-serious in his villainous exploits, but his sly and duplicitous behaviour and exasperation with his minions' antics are quite amusing. Lean and Mean: He's not as lean as Dr. Flug, but definitely mean as a Bad Boss villain. London Gangster: Black Hat might garb himself with classy clothing, but he's an incorrigible thug through-and-through. The English dub goes one step further by giving him a slimy Cockney accent. The Man Behind the Man: For practically every CN Big Bad. His goods and services are one of the primary reasons they're successful villains. Master Actor: In one short, he puts his Voluntary Shapeshifting to good use and scares Demencia by posing as 5.0.5 and giving a sudden roar and a Nightmare Face. Ironically, Demencia had just dressed up as Black Hat and was trying to scare who she thought was 5.0.5. Meaningful Name: Cowboy films from the 20s-40s often had the heroes wearing white hats while the villains wore black ones. The term "Black Hat" is still used today as a shorthand for villains. With the reveal that Black Hat isn't his real name, it's likely he took up the name as a catch-all alias. Me's a Crowd: Utilizing one of Flug's devices, he creates the most evil thing he can think of: Himself. Modernized God: He's the most ancient Top God of Evil but he's very modernised: he's using TV, computer, radio and Internet to do evil things and even can interfere with characters in movies, cartoons, videogames, etc. to make suffer as characters as viewers/players/etc. and can easily control and manipulate technology either by his powers or traditional way. Mood-Swinger: One moment, he's advertising his products as any shady dealer would. The next, he's convulsing with rage and, eventually, descends into hate-filled madness for a short-while. Mr. Fanservice: One of his clones, named Black Hot, is this to a T, complete with exaggerated muscles and poses, much to Demencia's excitement. Narcissist: Setting aside his massive ego, Black Hat lives and breathes this trope. He's unwilling to empathize with others, and is all too happy to step on them for his own benefit. He's a morally bankrupt business tycoon who will lie through his teeth to get what he wants. He's capable of putting up a professional front when it's convenient but barely conceals how much of a violent psychotic he is. He also never misses an opportunity to flaunt his superiority over others, constantly talking down to other villains, and being on such a high league of his own, the closest any villain can get to him is "Almost Black Hat". Never Bareheaded: Much like his clone, he's shown wearing a bowler hat under his regular top hat. Nightmare Face: He's pretty fond of flashing these when he's out to terrify someone (usually his subordinates). Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: Comes naturally to him, being basically an Anthropomorphic Personification of Evil and Cartoonish Supervillainy. Due to being a sociopath done rather straight and a grade A Humanoid Abomination with Lovecraftian Superpowers, he presents an incredibly dark example of Cartoonish Supervillainy. No Challenge Equals No Satisfaction: The reason why he retired from active villainy? He was too good at it; he's so absurdly powerful that no hero ever stood a change against him, leaving him bored out of his mind. No, I Am Behind You: One of the many ways he enjoys screwing with Flug. No Indoor Voice: He screams at every thing that annoys him (which is practically everything). No Love for the Wicked: Not that Dementia ever takes the hint. There Is No Kill Like Overkill: The only reason to explain his security systems, which even dwarf the house they're protecting. Non-Action Big Bad: Justified. While he's more than capable of destroying heroes personally, he's currently retired and more concerned with running his business and employing agents to do his bidding. No-Nonsense Nemesis: He likes to gloat after he completed his plans and he likes to do evil things as quickly and simple as possible. And he wants the same from other villains. No Sense of Personal Space: He's often gets into someone's face, struggles someone and even slams others into each other. Obviously Evil: Just look at the picture above. Does he look like a good guy? And including the fact that he has Voluntary Shapeshifting, that's Invoked Trope. Offscreen Teleportation: He'll often scare his subordinates by walking offscreen only to appear behind them on their opposite side. The Omniscient: It's implied he knows everything what, how, whenever happened, happens and will happen in The Multiverse and the times when he appears oblivious are just an act so he can make even eviler (even as petty as make his own workers suffer and/or punish them themselves). Only Known by Their Nickname: According to Mojo Jojo's Orientation Video, Black Hat isn't his real name, as apparently people saying his real name gives them a bit of a case of death. Orcus on His Throne: Justified. Since he's retired from active villainy, Black Hat is content to just run his business, selling goods and services to other villains or sending his agents to personally provide aid where necessary. Also, because the show follows the exploits of his crew, it's just as likely this trope is in effect to keep Black Hat from resolving every conflict himself, which he can very well do given his immense power. Our Demons Are Different: Despite having a deep connection to fire, it's not exactly clear what he is, but he's definitely some sort of malevolent entity. Pet the Dog: In the most absolute minuscule way imaginable, but when Flug reminds him that Mojo Jojo is a Platinum member of the Black Hat Organization, he makes the effort to try and limit the amount of barbs he throws at the chimp. Keep in mind he does not extend this courtesy to Aku, who has also purchased products from the Black Hat Organization on a lesser level than Mojo. As shown in Penumbraโs Character Blog, he eventually removed Sunblast from Demenciaโs stomach and gave the hero over to said client, exactly as he promised. Note that he has been perfectly willing to go back on his word, as the orientation videos have shown. Pragmatic Villainy: Black Hat relishes in committing even the most petty acts of villainy, but he's not Stupid Evil. He doesn't like or care about his minions on a personal level and is annoyed by their antics, but keeps them around because they get results. The same applies to his business conduct; while slimy and not above threatening customers, Black Hat understands that keeping his business afloat means maintaining a decent relationship with his clientele. Psychopathic Manchild: Given all of his clear experience and intelligence, it is quite shocking to see how quickly and frequently Black Hat loses his cool at the smallest problem or slight thrown his way. Add the fact that he uses his powers to mess with, torture, and outright murder anyone and anything within his vicinity at any given moment, he can honestly come across as a cruel child or teenager given too much power rather than malevolent force of nature he actually is with how he acts. Reality Warper: His powers dip into shades of his - at one point, he got so angry he caused the Pompeii eruption. Yup. Reconstruction: Of Invincible Villain and Cartoonish Supervillainy. He's an invincible and omnipotent Large Ham but he's not ignorant or overconfident about his powers and abilities, so he's a No-Nonsense Nemesis who use every opportunity to win and also he actually learns as time goes. For example, he's a Modernized God and Gadgeteer Genius. But he's funny at the same time mostly because he's Chewing the Scenery and This example contains a YMMV entry. It should be moved to the YMMV tab.Crosses the Line Twice. So to put it simply, he's a Cartoonish Supervillain who always wins. Red and Black and Evil All Over: Is never seen outside of his black and red suit and is the most vile creature in the show bar none. Retired Monster: Black Hat used to be a Big Bad, but has since retired and now makes a living selling weapons to other Big Bads. However, if the ARG and series teaser are anything to go by, he doesn't intend to stay inactive for much longer... Sadist: He takes pleasure in the suffering of others, especially Flug and 5.0.5. Satanic Archetype: He's a dark, malevolent, shapeshifting entity who is implied to either be the originator of evil or evil itself taking physical form. He spends his days tormenting his underlings and promoting evil out the world (if not the entire Cartoon Network multiverse) by helping villains fight heroes, usually in return for their immortal soul. Also, the orientation videos apparently make up only 1 volume of 666. Scary Teeth: Black Hat has some very scary and sharp green teeth. Whenever he smiles, he takes clear joy in others' suffering, and even gets angry at someone for failing their objectives. Seven Deadly Sins: Black Hat, being the leader of the Black Hat Organization and responsible for everything happening in Cartoon Network, committed four of the seven deadly sins as the embodiment of evil. Greed: He is always itching for money, even though he owns an evil organization which has others give him their souls as a contract. Pride: Black Hat always sees himself as being above others and believes himself to be a greater villain than anyone in the cartoon network universe, such as the likes of Aku. Sloth: He never does any work and leaves his minions to do all the dirty work instead of committing any crimes, stating that if he does anything, he would be invincible and always win in the end. In fairness, Black Hat did retire from the organization. Wrath: He always gets mad at villains, including the Cartoon Network villains, because they could not defeat any of the heroes in their own works, calling all of them and their minions worthless and incompetent, even though Black Hat never had an archenemy. Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Black Hat is the quintessential Manly Manโrough, aggressive, and unapologetically dominant in Flug's presence. In contrast, Dr. Flug is the Sensitive Guy, embodying traits more in touch with his feminine side. While Black Hat revels in chaos and power, Flug is often seen as more intellectual, preferring to work in the background with his inventions. Slasher Smile: Has it down to an art. Slouch of Villainy: Promotional art has him doing this. The Sociopath: He's pure evil without any redeeming qualities. Speak of the Devil: One of the orientation videos has him reveal that if someone says his real name, they die. The image on screen when he says this implies that it is because he shows up to kill them. Stalker Without a Crush: He spies on everything and everyone for two things: get the profit for it (usually the souls of his clients) and see evil (even the smallest ones) and suffering of others. Surrounded by Idiots: His opinion of his crew, but knowing how Flug, Demencia, and 5.0.5. are, it's hard not to blame him for feeling this way. Black Hat: I hate all of you. Tear Off Your Face: He does this to himself in a fit of frustration and anger, when the Medusa Device runs out of power after producing a cutesy statue of 5.0.5 giving him and the others a cheerful hug. Thinking Up Portals: He can tear open passages into seemingly other dimensions with his claws, unleashing god-knows-what unto the world. Time Abyss: This example contains a TRIVIA entry. It should be moved to the TRIVIA tab.Word of God states he is very, very old. How old exactly is anyone's guess. Took a Level in Badass: In the original shorts there was no indication that he had any powers. Now, he's the Greater-Scope Villain to an entire multiverse and a full-blown Invincible Villain who conquered many worlds and killed countless heroes before his retirement. Took a Level in Jerkass: In the original shorts, he was very much an underhanded scoundrel, but now all bets are off. Too Spicy for Yog-Sothoth: When the Dapura Repulsa flower latches onto him, it squirms for a moment in confusion before suddenly shriveling up and dying. Black Hat points out that, while the parasite is intended to infect its host with a Hate Plague (inverting feelings of affection to disgust), it has no effect on a heartless creature like himself. In a comic strip, there is an inversion. Dr. Flug creates the most corrosive acid known to the universe, but puts it in Black Hat's drinking cup while he finds a suitable container. Black Hat finds it and takes a sip, but spits it out and melts 5.0.5's face, complaining it was "too sweet" for his tastes. Ungrateful Bastard: When Dr. Flug lands outside the lair after taking the full brunt of the inside security system, Black Hat grumpily says in return "Took you long enough..." Oh, and he deliberately steps onto Dr. Flug afterwards, who was grievously injured by this point. Villainous Breakdown: This happens quite often in the shorts, where Black Hat flies off the handle when an invention doesn't work as intended or is totally botched by his crew. This gets scaled back considerably in the series proper, however. Villain Protagonist: Of Villainous. Voluntary Shapeshifting: He can change his shape and size at will with seemingly no limit, since in one short he took the form of 5.0.5. to play a trick on Demencia, and in another he grew to twice his size when his lackies made him angry. Wicked Cultured: Loves classical music, can play organ very well, etc. and the biggest asshole you ever see. Would Hit a Girl: He sometimes knocks Demencia around, not that it ever deters her from trying to put the moves on him. Would Hurt a Child: Kicks a younger 5.0.5 hard enough to cause a Twinkle in the Sky during the orientation video on Mojo Jojo. Yank the Dog's Chain: He loves invoking this trope, especially for Flug. In one comic, he caught Flug's model of a plane only to burn it. And in Satellite Secrets, his price for V.I.R.U.S. is to spoil to Flug the last series of his favourite show. Dr. Flug bringing much pain to him and his compatriots, such as an extensive home security system that you can't turn off if it happens to activate while you're still outside of it. Also, he believes that the most wicked thing in the world isn't his cruel, murderous (and vaguely demonic) boss, but a sandwich. Sure, with too much mayo on it, but still. On the other hand, he's capable of amoral experimentation and isn't above allowing villains to suffer horrible fates for their failures. Nerd in Evil's Helmet: Gushes over scientific knowledge and inventions, has a knack for mechanics, prefers strategic planning and list-making, and is an aficionado miniature plane collector. Not the obvious hobbies for an unrepentant Card-Carrying Villain. Nerdy Nasalness: Flug has a fairly high-pitched, nasal voice to coincide with his poindexter personality. Non-Action Guy: Flug's strengths lie in his inventions and planning, not direct combat. However, when he decides to cut loose, like under Miss Heed's mind control, he's both skilled and agile, and his machines give him enough of an edge to stalemate Demencia. No-Sell: He became immune to Miss Heed's serum after realizing that she's used him for Goldheart in the past and doing it again. No Social Skills: Unsurprisingly for a Nervous Wreck like him, he doesn't really have people skills. His idea of flirting revolves around planes for instance. Not-So-Harmless Villain: He may look like a geek with a ridiculous paper bag mask, and he is, but Flug is most certainly villainous to his core. He relishes at the chance of experimenting on Mojo Jojo, then grinds Peridot and Jasper (or similar gems) for their failures as villains. Although some of it is Played for Laughs, the actions alone reveal Flug as a true Mad Scientist. Dr. Flug: From an evil genius to another, Mojo, I can say this won't kill you... although you will probably wish it would. Number Two: To Black Hat. Only Sane Man: Flug's got his Mad Scientist quirks, but compared to Black Hat and Demencia, he's the sanest of them all. Papa Wolf: He is very protective of 5.0.5 and anyone (except for Black Hat) mistreating, raising their voice, or mishandling stuff he created will get on his bad side. Past Experience Nightmare: Habitual sufferer, to the point he sleeps in a cryobed rather than allow himself normal rest - and even that's not enough to stop it completely. Professional Butt-Kisser: For Black Hat, who's more annoyed than flattered. Little wonder it rarely helps him avoid the pain his boss dishes with clockwork regularity. Punch-Clock Villain: Subverted. He seems to be an average joe who happens to work for a ruthless supervillain, but he's got the guts to work for Black Hat (despite his fear for his boss) and is capable of amoral science experiments. He also seems to genuinely want his boss' approval. Real Men Wear Pink: Among the multitude of tasks he's responsible for, he mends Demencia's clothes. Sadist: It's well-hidden, but it's certainly there, and it surfaces when he's about to experiment of Mojo Jojo, and he appears to relish what he's about to do to him. Scary Shiny Glasses: Has these when he prepares to subject Mojo Jojo to A Fate Worse Than Death. It's the first time that he's ever implied to be a Not-So-Harmless Villain. Has them again when he decides to tell the Kids Next Door to stop investigating the Black Hat Organization or face his wrath (and Would Hurt a Child is in full effect). This time, it's played for much more malevolence than the previous example. Ship Tease: He and Miss Heed have a history going back to high school where they were each other's Only Friend until the latter decided to steal his thesis and become a hero in order to win the heart of Goldheart. Years later, they both still have lingering feelings for one another which resulted in him being French kissed by Heed. Small Name, Big Ego: Downplayed. Working for the most successful supervillain of CN has naturally given Flug a bit of an ego, as evidenced by the narrator's reading of his description, but Black Hat is always there to remind him of his place. Skewed Priorities: In Satellite Secrets, he cares more about seeing the final episode of his favourite show (and not seeing spoilers) than the mission. He even shoots blindly at various screens in V.I.R.U.S.'s satellite because they were showing bits from the episode. Soft-Spoken Sadist: He's a polite, Nervous Wreck Fatherly Scientist who rarely raises his voice and is the Only Sane Man, but he's also a villain who's capable of being as evil as Black Hat. Especially when he's angry. Speech Impediment: Flug has a faint lisp in the English dub. Strong Girl, Smart Guy: A villainous example with Demencia. Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: He and Demencia can barely stand one another in the field due to their clashing approaches to dealing with heroes. The Illegible: When Flug is writing things intended to be read by other people, his handwriting is fine, but when it's for himself, it's absolutely unreadable. The narrator in the Orientation Files, in live action, holds the script that Flug wrote, looking like a swarm of loop and scribbles with maybe one or two visible letters, and comments that he can barely make out what it says, but Flug says that his handwriting is just fine. The production team got the crew member with the worst handwriting to make it. This Is Gonna Suck: When he gets past the faulty security system for the outside of the lair, only to be met with the security system for the inside of the lair, Flug just quietly lies down and assumes a Troubled Fetal Position. Trademark Favorite Food: Pancakes, according to This example contains a TRIVIA entry. It should be moved to the TRIVIA tab.Word of God. Troubled Fetal Position: Goes into one when he gets past the outside security system... and encounters the internal one! Villainous Breakdown: He completely breaks into a fear-induced panic attack when Black Hat checks on their progress with Sunblast. Not only had they not dealt with him, he was also tailing them to Hat Island where Black Hat expected the job to be done. Knowing how Black Hat handles failure, Flug has very good reason to panic. Volatile Second Tier Position: Due to his status as Black Hat's Number Two (and the only henchman with scientific and business acumen beyond enforcer work unlike Demencia), the good Doc handles everything from business models to infrastructure. Coupled with holding responsibility should an assignment end in disaster incurring his master's fury, Flug's job is a very stressful one indeed. "Well Done, Son" Guy: He desperately wants Black Hat's approval, as evidenced by his dreams in the pilot. But since this is Black Hat we're talking about, his dream may be just that. We Used to Be Friends: Dr. Flug and Miss Heed were friends in their youth and it's suggested that he did have feelings for her. They have long since separated after Miss Heed stole his thesis for her powers and despite everything that's happened, Miss Heed still refers to him as "Kenny" and "Fluggy". She also kisses him on the lips instead of the cheek (the latter of which he requested) despite her dislike of being touched. While Flug has every reason to hate her, he just pities her in the end and sincerely hopes that she gets the help she needs for her mental health issues. Would Harm a Senior: Without a hint of hesitation he kicked a few elders (a few older superheroes). Would Hit a Girl: Has no qualms hitting Demencia and other female opponents. Would Hurt a Child: Has no qualms creating devices that would cause bodily harm to children, and casually threatens the KND in "The Lost Cases of the Tree House". Though he seems to draw the line at harming babies and background Demencia: Villainesses Want Heroes: Defied SO hard! She finds the idea of Black Hat being a hero completely appalling. Yandere: Has repeatedly shown that her love for Black Hat has given her a propensity for violence. During the "Questionnaire" short, when someone asks Demencia if she'd still love Black Hat if he was a hero, she goes utterly ballistic, demanding to know the name of whoever asked that. It's ambiguous as to whether she was furious because they suggested Black Hat would ever be a hero, or because they had the audacity to question her undying love for Black Hat. Another villainess just being in the same room as Black Hat is enough to trigger Demencia's jealousy. In "The Dreadful Dawn", Demencia crushes her phone at the sight of a picture Penumbra posted on "Instagrim" with Black Hat in the background . ALL CHARACTERS WILL SPEAK ENGLISH AND WILL NEVER TALK FOR AND WILL CURSE Any
