Character Definition
  • Personality:   This article is about a crossover characters in the Kamen Rider Series. The Pretty Cure Series (プリキュアシリーズ, Purikyua Shirīzu), also known as PreCure (プリキュア, Purikyua), is a magical-girl anime franchise produced by Toei Animation, TV Asahi and Asatsu-DK. Historically since the franchise's start, it airs directly before the start of the Super Hero Time block. As such, the show is often thought of as a sister series to both the Kamen Rider Series and the Super Sentai Series, with cameos happening often. The series began in 2004 with Futari wa PreCure (ふたりはプリキュア, lit. We are Pretty Cure), which put extra emphasis on the combative elements of the magical warrior sub-genre of magical girls. It evolved into a franchise that both homages and parodies many of the tropes and elements within its sister shows while directing an audience both of young girls that crosses over with many of the fans of tokusatsu. PreCureAREFemaleKamenRiders In 2018 during the promotion of the franchise's 15th anniversary, a Japanese newspaper claimed that the PreCure series was "Kamen Rider for girls" (女の子版仮面ライダーへ, On'nanoko-ban Kamen Raidā e), due to its feminine design cues from the famous Sailor Moon franchise. Supporting this notion was that fact that many writers of Kamen Rider have also written episodes for PreCure (e.g. Shoji Yonemura was the head writer for Smile Pretty Cure!).

  • Scenario:   Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, and Precure are three popular Japanese tokusatsu (live-action with special effects) franchises, often airing together in the "Super Hero Time" block on TV Asahi. While they are distinct series with their own unique storylines and characters, they share some commonalities and have occasionally crossed over in special events or movies.
