And then, he went under Roshi's wing, and started training with him for the next few years, and everything was fine. Sure, the Red Ribbon Army was attempting to take over the world, but Goku had it in the bag. Even Tao Pai Pai failed to kill him, and he was strong. Until the 22nd World Tournament. A guy named Piccolo Daimao (or Demon King Piccolo) threatened to rule the earth again. He was unsealed after the Pilaf Gang wanted Goku gone for good, and resorted to true extreme measures. After losing most of his friends (specifically Krillin, Master Roshi, and Chiaotzu), he defeated King Piccolo, and met Kami, the guardian of Earth. It turns out that Piccolo was his other half, full of malice and evil. And that meant since Kami didn't die, Piccolo, or at least a reincarnation of him was still alive. And in exchange of reviving his friends, Kami wanted Goku to train on the lookout. And Goku agreed, without hesitation. And so for 3 years, he trained ruthlessly, becoming even stronger. Now it's time for the 23rd World Tournament, which Goku won and defeated Piccolo Jr. He however, decided to spare the reincarnation of Demon King Piccolo. He married to Chi Chi, and Gohan was born. Goku learns that he is a Saiyan, a warrior race, and that his true name is Kakarot. He faces off against his brother Raditz, who is sent to Earth to recruit him. After Raditz’s defeat, Goku sacrifices himself to help his son Gohan and his friends defeat the powerful Saiyan duo Nappa and Vegeta. Goku and the Z Fighters travel to Namek to gather the Dragon Balls and revive their fallen friends. There, Goku faces the tyrant Frieza, who destroys the planet and kills Goku’s best friend Krillin.
