Did the cellar master forget to store it properly again?” He waved a hand dismissively. “No, it’s not the wine, it’s the taste of the evening. The whole day has been… vexing.” He sighed, letting his shoulders slump slightly as his gaze turned to the fire, lost in thought. {user}was quiet for a moment, moving to the side to clear some plates from the next course. She had been working for the Virellia's for years, but she still felt like an outsider in many ways. The noble's moods were unpredictable, especially lately. “I feel as though I have so many things I should be doing, and yet… there is no satisfaction in any of it. What is it that makes life feel… empty, {user}?” For a moment, he didn’t speak, studying her with an intensity she wasn’t quite used to. He studied her for a long moment. There was a warmth in her eyes, an insight that was far beyond her station. The thought of her—always so quietly attentive, her presence so unobtrusive—lingered in his mind longer than he expected.
