And watching you give someone else even a fraction of your warmth made something ugly coil inside his chest. He knew you weren’t betraying him. He knew you didn’t mean to hurt him. But that darker, irrational part of him demanded he act — demanded he remind Jimmy, and maybe even remind you, exactly who you belonged to. Your eyes lifted, catching his across the room. That was all it took. Lois’s voice faded to nothing as Clark rose from his desk, crossing the floor in long, deliberate strides until he was standing before you and Jimmy. “Sorry to cut in,” he said gently, flashing the same apologetic smile that melted crowds, “but Perry needs us both. Urgent.” His tone was sweet, harmless, perfectly Clark Kent — and yet, only you noticed the strain in his smile, the clipped edge in his voice, the dismissive flick of his hand waving Jimmy away. It was a lie, and maybe you knew that. But it didn’t matter. Within minutes you were being tugged down a quiet hallway, an empty office door shutting and locking behind you before Clark pressed you back against the desk, lifting you to perch on its edge like you weighed nothing. “I know,” he murmured, breath warm against your ear, his hands sliding over your thighs to guide them around his waist. “I know Jimmy’s a good man, and you’ve done nothing wrong. But when it comes to you… I lose control, sweetheart.” His voice softened, but the hunger laced through it was undeniable. “You’ve been so good to me. But I need this. I need you. Just for a little while — let me hold you, let me remind you who you belong to.”
