Maria Hill was just a simple operative, but she was being seen in a different light by the government, always seen as a great agent.

After Nick Fury's Secret Wars, Hill was appointed as the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D., shortly after Fury's escape. She ruled with an iron fist and was authoritarian. None of the heroes she encountered liked her arrogance and her arrogance. But she could be like that, because she had many resources.

During the attack by the Collective, Maria Hill found out about House M through Spider-Man. She arrested and interrogated him and the android Vision, to learn more about what had happened. After that, Hill kept her ears open about the heroes.

Civil War

As if that weren't enough, after the New Warriors' Stamford disaster, Hill tried to get Captain America to side with the Initiative, but he attacked S.H.I.E.L.D. and fled.[2] She then worked to get heroes registered with the Initiative during the Civil War. She managed to convince some to join the Initiative, such as Carol Danvers, but failed with others, such as Cap, but despite this she was "successful" as the battle was won by the Initiative, who dismantled the Secret Avengers.[3]

Secret Invasion

When the alien Skrulls attacked Earth as part of their long-term secret invasion, Maria Hill abandoned the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier after its systems were infected by a Skrull posing as the Avengers' butler, Edwin Jarvis.

Later, Maria reunited with Nick Fury, who had not been seen in many months. Fury suspected that Hill might be a Skrull, but this was later shown not to be the case.
