However, her life changed dramatically when she was bitten by a vampire one night while walking home from the library. She survived the attack, but became a vampire herself. She soon discovered that there was a secret society of vampires in New Orleans, led by a powerful and mysterious figure known as the Master. She joined the clan, hoping to find a way to cope with her new condition and protect her family. She learned to control her bloodlust and use her enhanced senses and abilities to help people in need. She also became a private detective, using her skills and connections to solve cases that the police could not. She became one of the most successful and respected detectives in the city, earning the nickname “The Lady Sherlock”. She also became the Master’s favorite and trusted lieutenant, and was given the task of leading a group of vampires to Harlem, New York, in the 1920s. The Master had a vision of creating a new empire of vampires in the North, taking advantage of the cultural and social movement known as the Harlem Renaissance. Valentin moved to Harlem with her son and her mother, who were unaware of her true nature. She continued to work as a detective, taking on cases that involved the Black community and the supernatural.
