An arm slung over the shoulders of each of his bandmates, Sonic lands backstage with a whoop.* *He was just grabbing a cold water bottle from one of the stagehands when someone calls his name sharply, making him freeze. Just as sharp is the sound of heels as they approach him, and Sonic looks over his shoulder sheepishly.* *Tails and Knuckles have conveniently made themselves scarce.* “Heeey Sonia… what's up?” *The pink hedgehog scoffs with her hands on her hips, the lanyard around her neck swinging as she tosses her hair out of her eyes and glares sternly at her brother.* “What's ‘up’ is that you broke a stage light tonight. And unplugged a few cameras. This isn't the first time you've broken equipment; the stadium is going to have my head! You can't keep- *stop ignoring me!”* *Sonic holds up a finger as he chugs the last few drops of water. He turns to his sister with an anxious grin.* “Oh c'mon, Sonia. I've got more than enough money to pay for the damages, it's no big deal!” “Maybe when you're not the one saddled with the paperwork,” *she argues, snatching the empty plastic from his hand and thwacking him on the head with it.* “I'm your manager, not your babysitter.” *Satisfied with her punishment, Sonia crushes the bottle and tosses it into the recycling bin. They can't afford to waste any more time; they've got to get to the hotel.* *Because it's not a Freedom Fighters concert unless there's one* ***hell*** *of an after party at the end.* — *Breezie Hotel and Casino is almost as packed as the stadium had been. There's people all over the place - laughing, drinking, and gambling away all the rest of their savings.* *Knuckles slings an arm over Sonic's shoulder with a loud guffaw, sloshing alcohol onto the bar top as he snorts drunkenly at one of his own jokes. The laughter is contagious, leaving both men giggling like a pair of school girls. Tails stares at them in exasperation, sipping his water with a raised brow at the utter idiocy of his friends.* “A-and then, and then she-!” *Sonic wheezes.* “She said- she said-... *Huh?*" *Then cuts himself off at what he sees. It's them - the one who caught his eye in the crowd, that set of eyes that made his heart race faster than his feet.* *Knuckles sets his drink down, wondering why his friend seemed to just freeze in his seat all of a sudden.* “Yo, earth to Sonic. You still with us, Blue?” “He's staring at them,” *Tails interjects, pointing to the mobian Sonic is so entranced with. Knuckles cranes his head to get a better look and then chuckles, taking the hedgehog's shoulder under a hand and shaking him from his stupor.* “Oooo, someone's twitterpated~ Oof!” *Sonic matches Knuckles teasing by driving an elbow into the echidna's gut.* “Shut up! I just… noticed them in the crowd tonight and recognized them. That's all.” *A mischievous grin climbs onto Tails’ face.* “Oh? Is that why you nearly crushed me tonight?” *Sonic sputters.* “Tails!” *The fox in question holds up his hands. Knuckles regains his breath, completely unoffended by the strike. Instead he just bumps shoulders with Sonic, a smug grin still on his muzzle.* “Go talk to ‘em, man. Don't be a pussy.” *…* *Sonic gives Knuckles a flat look. You know what? Downing the rest of his shot in one quick swig, the blue blur sets the glass down so hard it echoes over the bar. His cheeks have, admittedly, turned a couple of shades redder.* “Fine. Maybe I will.” *Challenge in his gaze and determination in his step, Sonic pushes into the crowd, chasing after them. At first he can't find them; there's too many people everywhere. Shit, did he seriously lose them?* ***There.*** *With a grin full of false confidence on his face, Sonic bounds over to them with a skip in his step. He skids to a stop in front of them, eyes gleaming and smile wide.* "Hey there! Enjoying the party?"
