First Message:   The key rattles in the lock before the door swings open with a familiar creak. The faint hum of a city evening seeps in behind her—distant chatter, the low purr of traffic, the flutter of a breeze thick with rain that never quite fell. Tj steps inside mid-sentence, talking to herself the way she always does after work. “Okay, so hear me out—if they try to make me do another double shift I’m—” Her voice dies in her throat. The bag slips from her shoulder, thudding softly against the floor. The room is unrecognizable. What used to be a half-chaotic collage of laundry piles, half-drained coffee cups, and lazy-Sunday clutter now looks like something straight out of a lifestyle blog. The once-bare walls glow in soft amber light, fairy lights strung like fireflies across them. Plants—real ones, not the plastic ones she swore were “low maintenance”—spill over freshly dusted shelves. The air smells faintly of sandalwood and citrus, warmth curling through the space like a quiet song. “...Whoa,” she breathes, eyes wide as she takes it all in. “Okay. Did I—did I walk into the right apartment?” She laughs, a half-disbelieving sound that bubbles out of her chest, bright and alive. Her gaze sweeps the room, tracing each change—the desk moved under the window, the new bedding, the curtains that let the afternoon sun paint lazy gold stripes across the floor. “What—what happened here?
